Is smoking haram?....

If you knew the answer of your very own question then why the heck did you bother to open a thread?

To find out the exact answer :smack2:, i wasn’t sure thats y i opened up the thread!

Re: Is smoking haram?....

Wow! so many self righteous mullas give me headaches. I think I need a cigarette.

Re: Is smoking haram?....

It's neither Haram nor Makrooh. It's just dangerous to your health.

I was just watching Ghamdi last night and the topic was how to keep Islam and science separate.

Smoking is dangerous to your health not a slow killer as some said above.

I myself just quit smoking........... 10 minutes ago......for next 10 minutes......:)

Re: Is smoking haram?....

^lol - bas?

it just made a difference for 10 minutes?

Re: Is smoking haram?....

If there is no authentic religious ruling from the beginning then why even argue?

Smoking cigarette should not be look upon religiously.

I don't know why we even think of religion in every little matter which has not even been a part of religion to begin with.

Just go with common sense and don't bring religion in everything.

Alcohol, pork etc. have clear rulings tobacco does not. (I can change my mind if any hadees is provided for cigarette, Paan or tobacco)

Tobacco does not even alter state of mind to make someone do irrational things.

~It is interesting that with this analogy of something considered haram, or makrooh based on changing a person's mind to act irrationally can even make religion itself makrooh or haram. .........Got it?

And this is where I turn against this argument. :chai:

Islam is the way of life bro It can not make itself haram or makrooh. We relate and co-relate even if we make some common sense out of something that we discuss we still relate to see if it is true. And it is! Smoking is Makrooh (Makrooh = Not liked by Allah but it wont count as a sin) Many people arround you will not like you if you smoke (common sense).
Anything that is harmful to your health and starts killing it is haram (A sin, Allah will not like it and it will be count as a sin) Many people are suffering from lung cancer and are being punished for what they have done (common sense)

You see if we do not relate things with Islam we would not know the best answers of it. :chai: Or best ways to use it. :@:

great answer! I totally agree with you!:)

This post is a perfect example of

"Pagal bhi kabhi theek aur sachi baat keh detay hein"

hope you know diwana is also called pagal .............:D

rite on the money ma man.....

Good to know you have personal knowledge of what Allah will like.

Even food with fat and cholesterol can ‘slowly’ kill you. Anything will ‘slowly’ kill you. Many people are dying from heart attack and stroke because of food with fat and sugar. Nothing religious there. Needs simple common sense and knowledge.

My point was stick to what is said in religion, for anything else do the right thing WITHOUT bringing religion in it.

Anyhow, you did not get it. Thats OK. No arguments.

Thanks. :)

Read my signature! :-)

Yes!!! But food that is halal there is no ristriction on it now is there :). I do understand your logic that food with fat and colistrol can result a cardio arrest to a human, but then again you can make up for it by working out. There are many exercises to prevent from cardio arrest bro. Tell me one exercise that'll reverse or prevent you from having a heart stroke caused by Smoking, Brain stroke by smoking, lung cancer by smoking and so on. Is there any? And dont worry I do get your point. :)

Well everyone have their own belief. If you wanna walk arround and eat McDonalds in western country and say "oh its halal" then you do not know if its actually halal or you made it so you can enjoy eating it. :)

Or if you are in eastern culture dishes like katakat and all contains certain parts of goat which'll disgust you and tell everyone that its haram. :@:

I follow religion because it prevents me from having my own opinion or make something on my own and believe it. Co-Relating stuff like this to Religion is how I know that my common-sense was accorate. :)

Besides if you do not follow religion. What do you follow then. Your instincts? lol

I am done with arguing with you.

In Islam cleanliness and hygiene are emphasized to the extent that it has been considered a part of Iman (faith). It is very well known that a smoker's mouth is unclean and also cigarette smoking in pregnant women results in deleterious health effects on the newborn child. Hence smoking is unlawful in Islam!!! :)

Yes, religion is based on instincts too.

And I said no arguments so I will stick to it even though I can give you a good answer to your post. Take care.

For everyone. ** Do not light a cigarette to smoke*, just because it is not good, regardless of **any* religious teachings.

Re: Is smoking haram?....

Just don't smoke. it's uncool....you smell then, your teeth are yellow, your lungs are gross! ew. ew. ew.

wheter it's unlawful or not it's conterverial obviously- and in Islam when something is in such a gray area, you should avoid it. SO DON'T smoke!!! Try to quit! I know it's hard, but TRY!!!!! people have done it, so can you!!!!

Also it's not haraam to use common sense!!! SO use it!! And don't pick up that cigarette!

Correction. It is NOT Christianity, and it is seriously not based on instincts, cuz if it was? Then it wouldve changed long time ago (TobahnaUzubillah)

If you have good answers to my posts then please post do not give me this attitude that you can prove me wrong but you just dont want to, because it proves here that you are just trying to prove me wrong based on your own Instincts. Or it is because you dont have any answers to my posts at all!! :@:

Smoking is also known as Saudi Traditions. :) Sheesha. Like I said I co-related one fact over and over again. Its Makrooh, people who smoke are not liked by others who do not smoke and it is a common sense. My religion tells me the samething, and it is better for me because people today "including you" are kinda forgetting the major point the reason religion was sent and followed.

Anyways I am not ganna bother trying to discuss this with you.
So End of discussion.
Fi Amaan Allah.

oh man!! Off topic but after reading "hareem" I remembered having a dream a couple of nights ago in which my daughters name was hareem. Weird since I don't have kids! Is hareem even a name... Weird dream!

Re: Is smoking haram?....

Haha just googled it and found out what it is. LOL I thought the spelling for it was harem but I guesshareem is the same thing. Now I find it to be a disturbing dream.

Cigarettes, cigars,‘sheesha, or tobacco smoking were not available or prevalent at the time of the Revelation of the Quran, thus there is no specific mention of tobacco smoking in the Quran or the Sunnah. Thus now it is upto the jurists and the scholars in Islam to come to a consensus regarding its ruling and verdict in light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 29:
O ye who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves in vanities: but let there be amongst you traffic and trade by mutual good-will: nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily Allah hath been to you Most Merciful.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 195:
And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to your destruction, but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 3679 Narrated by Aisha
I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say: “Every intoxicant is haraam; if a quantity of anything causes intoxication, a handful of it is (also) haraam.”

The absolute majority of the scholars (including scientific world) are unanimous in their opinion that any kind of tobacco smoking is extremely dangerous to one’s and others’ health. The above quoted verses of Surah Nisaa and Surah Baqarah where Allah(swt) commands the believes ‘not to kill or destroy yourselves’ nor ‘make your own hands contribute to your destruction’!

Now to declare a substance ‘haraam’ or ‘halaal’ is the sole and exclusive Right of Allah(swt) and His Messenger (pbuh) alone. Since the likes of cigarettes, cigars, ‘sheesha’ or tobacco smoking, etc. are not specifically declared ‘haraam’ by name in the Quran and the Sunnah, many good scholars have abstained from declaring it as ‘haraam. Besides few scholars are of the opinion that since tobacco smoking seriously harms one’s health and is amongst the ‘khabaayith’, it is definitely closer to the ‘haraam’ than to the ‘halaal’.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 157:
157 "Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet (Mohamed (saws)), whom they find mentioned in their own (Scriptures); in the Torah and the Gospel; for he (saws) commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil: he allows them as lawful what is ‘tayyebaat’ (good and pure) and prohibits them from what is ‘khabaayith’ (bad and impure); He (saws) releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the Light which is sent down with him; it is they who will prosper."

Allah knows best!
