yeh dunyaa meN meHv ho jaane aur Allah se door ho jaane kii baat hai aur Ghaflat baratne ke silsile se hai. jo log iimaan laaye aur 5 sutoon qaayam kiye un par yeh aayat/aayaat laazim nahiiN aatiiN…

…someone said, it’s bid’a…the definition of bid’a is…“to do something thinking that it’s part of Deen and expect a reward for in doing it and gunaah in abandoning it”.

i don’t think any of us do that as a partt of deen or expect sawaab.

i’m NOT saying it’s oerfect to celebrate…of course NOT…this is a matter of taqwa. the more mutaqqi you are the more you will refrain from doing something which falls in the grey area of deen.

it’s NOT a big deal to take the kids for trick or treating but it’s ok if kids enjoy a bit. i’m sure we commit a lot of minor sins knowingly and unknowingly and Allah is most Gracious and most Forgiving.

Muzna, it is very wrong. The only way to make it right is to turn the pumpkins into pies after you’re done playing with them, and then post said pies to me. It’s okay, it’s okay, you don’t have to thank me, I’m here to help.

I just want to have fun…make a really silly face on a kaddu, carve it out and put a candle in it to make it light up at night…what’s the harm in that?

No harm at all. If someone tells you otherwise try to ask if they could explain how exactly it is harmful (and they should come up with a reasonable response not that you are worshipping a pumpkin/loosing your faith by carving on it) otherwise just ignore such people and continue to have fun.

It’s seems to be fun in Halloween mature Islamic persons know the limits Kahan tak Mustafeez hona hai!! But immature and specially kids could cross the limits and we all know the Halloween fun is not only distributing or getting of candies. Christians them self make this thing already crazy I mean costumes parties drinking etc.

Thanks for elaborating. I appreciate the effort that you have made. Thankfully we do not prescribe to or participate in any of the objectionable/questionable activities that you have listed here. I can also add a few that you have not listed that we used to practice and have now eliminated from our deen.

The distinction that we make between our deen and “fun” is quite clear also.

My mamu and aunty had a massive falling out over the fact that she wanted to dress up her 6 year old in a witches outfit and he didn’t. He is more strict on religion etc..

Erm for me if it caused arguments with people esp any of my family members then I would not do it BUT things like Christmas tree or easter eggs and even pumpkin are all good for sake of kids having fun but whilst allowing them to have fun I would also teach them about what Islam says about such traditions so that they know its alright to get involved with gora activities just to feel involved in all the hungama but at the same time make sure to teach them about our own beliefs as well and the reasons why we don’t believe in the same holidays as the gorey have.
Thats how my parents taught us kids. We were allowed a Christmas tree and roast a turkey but on Christmas day dad would also sit us all down and tell us the Muslim version of Jesus Isa As. Then on easter and even Halloween dad made sure to tell us the whole story behind Halloween and after we knew the story we decided we did not want to dress up in things we didn’t believe in but still handed out treats to the kids on the streets and put up a pumpkin in the window to show that we were involved in the community and the gora logue really appreciated it and in turn wanted to learn about our eid holidays and it gave us a chance to teach them about our religion and beliefs. Its all about learning and accepting and being involved in your community even if you do not all believe in the same thing. Remember Allah made us all diff communities for a reason.

BP…is category mein to GS pe surfing bhi ajati hai. TV bhi ajata hai.

Carving pumpkins, dressing up kids and trick or treating at a few houses is not a big deal.

It does not make someone a kaafir or whatnot.

Those are man/computer made shaklain after all as well. They won’t let their kids celebrate halloween but watching tv all day long is ok.
