Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
Agreed with you Fraudia. In general, if the name does not have any anti-islamic meaning then it is OK to have that name.
Jawad would be pronounce Gawad in egypt. What's with Gawad
its a curseword :D
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?

yes pls do go on, they're are thousands of ppl who convert to islam, they dont go and do such things, becos islam is not like that!!!!!
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
But most of those names you mentioned are connected to Muslims since they have been used by Muslims for a long time. I don't know any Christians named Parvez.
I didn't mean to come across judgmental at all. That's the way you read it. Throughout this thread I have tried to understand both points of view, and I have just stated my opinion.
My classmate was a Pervez Masih...
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
^^ That is exactly my point. Name should have a religious or cultural assosiciation. Pervaiz is a common name amongst Indo-Pak Muslims, christians and Parsis
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
For you to call me a liar implies guilty conscience from you...Are you lying about the Christian boy? Maybe telling half truths, exaggerating or maybe twisting the facts? Be honest now...
Never mind, I didn't knew i was merely holding the torch infront of an individual of this gupland, who comes across as a top class Eeyore.

Suleyman Keeler
Abu Izzadeen
That Hindu convert who was recently convicted in England to bomb the NYSE
Adam Gadahn
The rest of al-Ghurabaa
The rest of the Islamic Thinkers Society
Many members of Hizb-ut-Tahrir
They are the most fanatical since they again often think they have something to prove, yet Muslims on here continue to defend these fellow brothers and sisters.
I wonder how many people on this board mourned the loss of Saddam and Zarqawi.
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
alisha(aleesha) means "protected by god"..the name can be found in many MUSLIM name books.
Look you,
Apparently, you didn't understand my posts and what I've been saying this whole time.
Alisha is also a non-muslim name as well. The statements that poster made make it seem that we shouldn't be copying the west. Then why take a name that also is accepted in the west.
I never said its not a muslim name. You make too many assumptions, thereby wasting my time to bother replying to you to correct your confusion. Really.
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
did ur parents honeymoon in that city ![]()
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
My eldest son is Adam which means "of the earth". My next one is "Alexander" which means "the great protector". And HOW do they fit their names!!! Its an amazing thing....how the eldest needs some help and here comes the linebacker-sized middle guy who defends and protects his own like a little lion!
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
That's because converts think they have something to prove lots of times. They even discard their native culture and start adopting trends native to Arabs and Desis. It's quite laughable.
What's the big deal? You'd think 90% of American, middle class white kids would appear to have a serious inferiority complex wrt inner city kids - if one goes by appearances and how people dress.

touchy.
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
Instigator. :)
Re: Is it okay if you give ur child a english name: though u are a muslim/pakistiani?
would you have an issue then if someone names their kid
abraham, isaac, Ishmael, Jacob, Jesus, Moses, or Noah, Adam, Michael, Gabriel etc?
The issue is not in the names but in the reason why one would want to name their kid any of those anglicized versions of Islamic names.

It is a tiny percentage of converts who become involved in such activities, and the fact is that they will have been exploited/brainwashed by people who were not converts. Their enthusiasm as a new Muslim is taken and used by those with bad motives.

Again, coming back to this topic, I re-read it and I realise I had missed some parts. Mamaof3 I didn't see your original post on the first page, and I'm sorry if you thought any of my posts were aimed at you. I still think someone can name their child any name they like. I was just trying to state why I wouldn't use a western name, but I didn't mean at all to attack anyone or offend.

lets say someine is a british convert, and is comfortable with the name he has and wants to give name he is confortable with to his kids?
what u are saying is that its the niyyat and u dont really know anyone's niyyat.
so all is kewl baby.

Seems like its you, cause...I have never seen anyone mention their names as frequently as you've been doing.
