Sorry to say, I didn’t. Correct me if I’m wrong but the argument is “you will get long lasting pleasures by avoid those pleasures in the short term and pledging yourself to Me”.
How is that sacrifice any more special than someone who sacrifices by dedicating their whole life to the poor while living in squalor or one who dedicates themself to a partner who ends up making them miserable their whole life or one gives up a life of freedom to in order to take of an invalid relative? Because it is not in a book that comes with traditions, edicts and threats? What if that person does it for love and selflessness and not for a promise of eternal carnal pleasure? Are they really a lesser person?
Does God require a woman to dress in a burlap sack her whole life only to beccome a promiscuous pleasure-giver for eternity? Or does he use non-believers to fulfill those duties in the afterlife?
Not much special but one of the pre-requisites to get eternal ‘pleasure’.
very different…no promise for eternal plaeasure for anyone who makes life miserable for anyone. Making life miserable for someone who is on the wrong side of the line is quite OK if it is based on true religious guidelines who is on the wrong side of the line.
Its like…caution:…a crude example…why should we make life miserable for a murderer? Will that make us evil people?
There is much more than what you mentioned in this book. The clues that it is written by someone who knows us better than we know ourselves.
Maybe. Loving someone or selflessness is also present in animals. Only humans are required to have love and recgnition for its creator AS WELL AS love and selflessness for others.
God does not require such thing for a woman for her whole life. that’s clearly an exaggeration in your statement.
‘Promiscuous pleasure’ relates ONLY to the life here and wordly rules do not apply hereafter as we understand.
LOL…very amusing.
Non-believers will be in a different place. If they need cold air..they can ask me to open my window towards them…just kidding:)
…I am not sure if I will be in heaven but… sure hope so!
The children in Taaif also cheered behind the back of Rasoolulah:saw: when he went there to preach for the teachings of Quran. That does not mean the cheerleaders at that time were right. They were sinners and rebellions to the Truth.
Oh, I'm sorry. Does that fall on your shoulders? If it's sinful on this carnal planet, why wouldn't it be sinful in the place that is closer to God? If it is an affront for His people to do it here, it would be an affront to do it there. In my view it is an insult to God to reduce His reward from spiritual to carnal. It is also an insult to man to imply that our ultimate goal is to fornicate forever instead of being spiritually closer to God.
Of course I could be wrong. Any and everyone on this board, including esteemed members and moderators who'd like to believe otherwise, could be wrong. So is all gupshup a waste of bandwith? Are you suggesting they shut it down?
I just think it is very illogical to think that certain things are punishable by beatings or death on earth but somehow are given as rewards in the afterlife. Not to mention it has nothing to do with developing spiritually or getting closer to God. It seems as if it is a ploy to appeal to the selfish, unthinking, carnal (un-Godlike) desires of man to say we will be rewarded with unlimited physical pleasures.
To behave a certain way to please God and obtain spiritual goodness should be the reward otherwise we are doing the things for the wrong, selfish reasons.
It is really distressing to see fellow Pakistani Muslims thinking that everything fun is Haram in islam astaghfirulAllah
In Pakistan, the majority of the Muslims are Sunnis following the Hanafi School of Sunni Islam. All worldly life issue, such as fun issues are dealt by the fiqhi rulings from qualified scholars.
So, musical instruments are not allowed in the Hanafi madhab except the daff. I think the stronger opinion in the Hanafi madhab is that not even the daff is allowed.
Ophcourse football and other physical games are allowed only when the awrah of the men are fully covered.
So it is not appropriate to say "fun is haraam" in Islam.
Hanafi madhab is very strict in terms of entertainment. TV and songs by women are discouraged by its scholars very much, as well as making pictures by hand etc etc
^ Semi to answer your argument, think of certain deeds as hot boiling milk and yourself as a kid who is desperate to go for it. Now think of God as a mother who tells you to be patient for a while and then you can have it. But this is just an example of keeping yourself away from lust. Now, when humans were ordered (by the God) it was not for the sake of hot milk but because of a bet. Yes you heard me RIGHT a BET or a PROMISE that was committed between God and SATAN. SATAN promised to GOD that I will lure humans and make as many sinners as possible. To believer of Islam and other holy books, understanding this point is like a battle between evil and good.
Coming back to the point of shorts and playing soccer, neither one is haram. Short is not a prescribed dress as it reveals parts of the body those are suppose to be covered but again it falls under minor SIN not HARAM though
I have no problem understanding the sacrifice, dedication, devotion and hard work that man is asked to do to avoid sin, become a better person and get closer to God. The illogical part of is when the rewards a person is supposed to receive after spending a lifetime becoming such a good and spiritual person are the very things we are to avoid. Shouldn’t the rewards be spiritual and not the very carnal vices that we are supposed to avoid because they displease God. Or because God has a bet with such a lesser creature such as Satan he is going to let us fornicate with the most beautiful people while drink, smoke and eat like pigs? We will be allowed to gamble too? Will women be allowed to wear halter tops?
