why is nearly every fun thing haraam in islam?

Its not. People make you think certain things are fun, when they really aren't. You can be religious and do many fun things. Be more specific with your idea of "fun" please :)

Also, a muslim's concern is not with this life (like the mentality of this world). Our Beliefs and efforts are made only for the hereafter, JAnnah. Ultimate paradise-there you can have LOTS of fun!

man has been sent in this life for testing, and things which he has been stopped from, have been made desirable for him (so he can be tested) and things that he has been told to do have been made seemingly difficult and undesirable for him (so he can be tested)....

but u have a totally worng idea if u think fun is haraam....

well i have been told playing football with shorts is haraam, also there are many other things like that.

^ depends on the length of the shorts, I think. Anyway, is wearing the shorts the "fun" part, or playing football? If it's football that you enjoy, just change clothes and have some halal fun :D

I think we should strive for a life in which all the good things(according to Islam) become "fun"
sight seeing, picnics are haram or not depends on a lot of things IMHO
does having fun distracts you from your social/religious duties?
which would be a proper utilization of your time? doing good things and earning your reward in the afterlife or wasting it in meaningless activites.
If sports are played to keep up your health and fitness I dont see how that is haram though

There are alot of things I can do for fun without breaking the bound of Shari’ah.
Fun for me is Paradise.
