Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
sheraz is correct. you can not label all iranians as this or that based on either the examples of the spoilt expat iranian brats like the ones pointed out in this post or the extremists like ayotollahs and what nots. Most Iranians are decent people, some are religious some are not. Just like in any other nation.
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
^I am talking about the expat Iranians here...who have left iran sometimes back & living in the west...
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
Ya right…i was not talking of the shias/sunni here…I was just trying to point out that many Iranian families in USA are not comfortable with being muslim & are out of their restrictions…
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
This is nothing new, strange or surprising to me. I know at least two dozen Iranians in Canada and I am yet to find one who is different from your above description. Don’t get upset and accomodate them? At least sometimes you will find that they sympathise and try to help you because you are after all a fellow muslim.
aside from Turkey, which muslim nation has a more irreligious populace, especially its youth, than Iran? which has a higher alcohol consumption? which produces a higher percentage of apostates and athiests?
Can you quote any figures?
plenty of kafir nations have given aid and stood up for oppressed muslims far more than Iran has
true.... but how many muslim nations have stood up for oppressed muslims?
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
Nahin mein tumhara humzaad hoon!
On another thought, scratch that idea!
Mujh jaisa chhein chabila khubsoorat nojiwaan tumhara hamzaad ban hi nahin sakta.. ![]()
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
I've met many Iranaians, and I don't think I've ever met one that was religious in any way whatsoever.
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
^ In that case, you haven't met many Iranians. Because I know both religious and non-religious Iranians, just like I know religious and non-religious Pakistanis, for example!
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
I know religious and non-religous pakistanis as well, but all of the Pakistani’s I know at least believe in Islam, even if they don’t practice. All of the many, yes MANY Iranians that I have met, don’t even believe in Islam.
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
mazza aa gaya thread perr ker....united we stand...............
:)
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
Are you saying that pakistanis are hypocrites??
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
Some of them, absolutely.
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
^ and that is something to be proud of?
I guess birds of a feather flock together. Most Iranians i've met so far (abroad) are mostly religious. But there are bound to be some none practising iranians, just like there are non practising pakistanis/saudis/egyptians etc. who claim to be muslims but do all sorts. its not limited to one nationality or one sect as the prince of persia would have us believe. hence using a few examples to tar a whole nation/sect is very narrowminded and pathetic to say the least.
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
agree
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
Well said Ma Mooli. :k:
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
obviously it will apply to all communities, but you don’t think there is a noticeably higher frequency of this with Iranians?
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
Offcourse now the iranian apologists (people who claim ancestry with Iran) will come and offer all sorts of excuses… ![]()
PS I like the matam of iranis, no blood no pain! ![]()
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
According to Ahadith
Dajjal will rise up from Isfahan(Iran) with an army of jews wearing persian shawls.
And the army that will fight on the side of Mehdi(A.S) will come from Khurasan(also Iran) carrying black flags(original color of the islamic battle standards)
so there is some weight in the argument that their is intense splitting between the religious and nonreligious Iranians
Re: Iran,Islam & Those Bashing Islam.
There is not a single interpretation of Islam to derive one's sense of rightuousness and essence of things from. (There is not a single concept of God even). So let this Iranian guy alone and let him assign meanings to life as he understands it.
Turkey and Iran don't derive their identities from Islam alone. Religion can only be one( and often very insignificant ) of a multitude of factors that go into forming a people identity. The point is, Iranians and Turks are very clear about who they are!
