Safavids were brutal no doubt but I am not aware of any genocide of sunni muslims there but they were persecuted much like the Alids under ummayyads

they were Pagans any Iranian who prides himself on that and calls his brother shia muslims as "Arab Parast" is a apostate.but the notion that shiaeAli was a religious party "invented" by the persians is historical fiction.

He seems like an FOB who never found his groove in society and adapted an unkempt attitude just to blend in. You will find many Iranian folks with similar attitude; who can't even put couple of sentences together in english, but take up phony posture just to be like the majority - hollow fools!

^I don't think he is any sort of an FOB....His family atleast is quite educated one...his younger brother is a lawyer,sister & brother-in-law are cardiologists...he himself has done 6 years as research scientist in germany....I guess they are those sort of Iranians(Some Arabs)that want tho throw away "this burden of islam(in their own words)off their heads" & be liberal(sinful in other words).....Besides i have also seen many families from Turkish/Iran/Arab muslims who drink & have no restrictions....Turkish would even marry the non-muslims & are cool about it....Almost all Turks that i know here in USA drink(this is their own stuff & doesn't bother me,but i have experienced that they are decent enough not to make mockery of Islam)....

i know a a girl form iran. She is hijabi but yet goes out to clubs, parties around and stay out late...sometimes does end up talkin like this dude u r talking about!

Many of the Iranis living abroad are unIslamic in their behavior. And its not like one mistake a person makes, but its a habitual thing with them.
You'll notice that these very families were the ones to flee when the revolution happened in Iran. Its mainly because they weren't religious families in the first place, that they fled. I would not judge all Iranis like that.
Furthermore, I would not think that Iranis that come from these families are a lost hope either. Sometimes, its people from bhatke-huay families that are the most interested in Islam, because its part of their heritage that their families never really got them involved in.

^ Yeah, Iranians and majority of Albanains/Bosnians/Yugoslavians etc.. it's a common thing in their culture/society, they're Muslim in name only.. Theres one grl in my MSA tho, she's albanian, shes bene part of the MSA for a few yrs now and she just started wearing hijab..

That's what I'm saying Sara. You perceive that because look where you live? You live in the country that all the unIslamic people will run to when there is an Islamic Revolution in their country.
Granted, I don't know if the Iranian revolution was valid Islamically or not, and what flaws are in their current government system, etc.
But because of the crackdown on growing trends of alcoholism, and other social behaviors, these families fled during these "islamic revolutions". I put it in quotes, because I really don't know how Islamic the Iranian revolution was, nor how effective it was. But it sure did send people running away from there.
I had some Iranian friends, and they would talk about the stark difference between Iranians living abroad, and Iranians from back home. Iranians living in Iran who WANT to live in Iran are quite conservative. Not that they like everything about their governments, of course.

I cannot believe how some of you have used the examples of some spoilt brats and pissed off Iranian exiles, who always emulated anything western anyway, to make such sweeping generlizations about a nation of 70 million people, and Shia Islam as well. Not only that but some of you have gone further and started making similar sweeping statements about other Muslim groups as well, yet hastened to include our own people (Pakistani's ) who are also guilty of such attitudes and vices as well.
Jeez, when will Pakistani's drop the "thekadari" of the Ummah that we adopted so long ago?, because this self-appointed guardiancy is not much appreciated by other Muslims. In case some of you don't know your history, it is Iran that that stood upto the American's in '79, the Israeli's in Lebanon, and helped the Bosnian Muslims and stands up for the Palestinian's while most our blessed governments are busying kissing western behinds. So drop all this bile about Iranian's and others being such terrible Muslims, because frankly it is getting pretty offensive, and it does not show much for our so called love for fellow Muslims!

aside from Turkey, which muslim nation has a more irreligious populace, especially its youth, than Iran? which has a higher alcohol consumption? which produces a higher percentage of apostates and athiests?
plenty of kafir nations have given aid and stood up for oppressed muslims far more than Iran has…there’s no relevance in pointing that stuff out.
