IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

@ Zero_one & Samb

Right. Pakistani players should focus their energies on trying to improve their test batting - which has let us down on so many occasions recently - and winning international tournaments. That w'd be the best response

I am happy in a way.... some of these players were just dying to play in IPL for some dosh. It is not like they are skint themselves

Hope this slap was a good lesson for those greedy players too

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

GoldenAsif, overall I agree with you... except I don't really care for test cricket. imo, test cricket is destined to die. ODIs are the format I really care about. but even there, we need to do a lot of work on our batting.

Pakistan should resolve its Political and Social issues, a formal foreign policy (India specific) should be drawn and tabled asap.

Sports & Entertainers should be regulated when traveling to India and should be bonded to uphold Pakistan's national intgrerity and Respect at all cost.

ICC chief and whole ICC is India specific and should be dealt with sternly and I feel that Ejaz Butt is the most incompetent figure in tghe PCB setup to take Pakistan's case to any international forum. He should be sacked and tried for wasting time and resources of Pakistan's limited cricket.

Why should an India specific foreign policy involve cricket, the one thing that has potential to bring people together, one common ground between an average Pakistani and an averge hindustani.....why do u want to pollute that one thing with politics.

You are supporting the idea of politics influence on the game, which is very wrong. If Pak does that than whats the difference between US and them.

If ajmal and his friends had stuck to killing only the passengers at the train station, things would have gone back to normal a long time back. But the attack on the rich and the powerful at the Taj will take a longer time to heal. Mallya, Tata and Ambani are the kind of people that hang around in these hotels.

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

And to think Mohammad Asif lost valuable year of international cricket because ICL banned him!!! Why in the world did PCB had to honor a ban imposed by IPL? What if IPL had imposed a longer ban, say 5 years? This is ridiculous! IPL is going to tell PCB who to play and who not to play.

You can't separate sports from politics. That's the truth, just live with it.

IPL is a totally commercial venture. No govt indian or pakistani can force any franchisee to buy any player for any reason. Can your govt force you to buy any brand of tv ot share stock? Why cant pakistan people & govt understand this elementary fact.
We in india all feel bad about absence of pak players.Pakistan has 2 options.A businessman of pakistan can become a franchisee.Or you can start your own league.Any takers.

Oh no plzz…b’wood producers will go bankrupt :cb:

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

One of the officials observed that fear of negative publicity was also a key factor that dissuaded most of the franchises from backing the inclusion of a Pakistan player.

“I don’t want to get into the nitty-gritty of the developments but honestly having a Pakistan player would have added to the pressure on us. Any little incident, like demonstration against his inclusion, or even stone throwing, would have attracted negative publicity for us.

“Security would have been a huge task. There was little sense in becoming unpopular with a majority of our fans for the sake of playing just one Pakistan cricketer. In hindsight, we are better off without any of them,” said the official.

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

BCCI will come a begging when they'll need the PCB vote. Take your revenge then guys.

:omg:

Yaar kyon tum log itna rote ho, mujhe hassi aa rahi hai posts pad padke :hehe:… try to become independent and make your country stronger than ever :k: … launch PPL and then invite no. 1 team India

We shall launch PTL (Pakistan Terror League)…hahahahahaa

invite the indians and terrorize them with our bowling and batting..

Be warned! Be very Afridi..

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

It does not behold a great cricketing country like pakistan to get so much worked up on a lowly like Modi & a few businessmen not all indians.I agree that it does not look good not to buy such great players.Play the game & show that you are the best.At present pakistan cricket is in bad phase all demoralised. It is understandable what with pakistan under siege from terrorists & under virtual bycot.Defeatt the taliban.Play the game.Do not believe in consipiracy theories floated by zaid etc. They deflect from the purpose.

Seriously I never watched IPL games when Pak players were playing in it and doing well so why would I have any interest in it now? Let’s move on and focus on more important things like improving our batting and fielding & winning international events.

Miandad rightly calls all T20 leagues ‘a virus’

Twenty20 a virus, says Miandad

Former Pakistan captain and coach Javed Miandad has labelled the shortest format of the game “a virus” which could signal the death of Test cricket. Miandad believed that with Twenty20 leagues around the world offering vast amounts of money, international cricket - particularly the long form of the game - was becoming less attractive to the players, and he called for the ICC to step in.
“Twenty20 cricket is a virus and if the ICC doesn’t restrict matches of this format it will finish Test cricket, as leading players will no longer want to play for their country,” Miandad told AFP. "With the introduction of Twenty20 leagues, the notion that ‘country comes first’ is also hit for six because when there is a choice between national duty and more money, players will choose money. Some of the Australian players could have represented their country longer but retired to play Twenty20 leagues two years ago.
“When Twenty20 cricket started, I had smelled this format will damage cricket. Now the game will not see quality players, as they are now more attuned to play the big-hitting game than the traditional and classical way.”
Interestingly enough, Miandad’s comments came at a time when Pakistan players were ignored for the third season of the IPL with none of the franchises bidding for the available 11 players during the auction in Mumbai on Tuesday. The apparent reason was because the teams were not sure of their availability due to visa and other problems.
However, Miandad said **the players “should not be bothered” by the snub. “They must concentrate on their national duties as country always comes first.” **
He also expressed his concerns about India having a dominant say in world cricket affairs. “I fear a day will come when world cricket will be run by India alone,” Miandad said. “So I fear if Australia, England, Sri Lanka and the West Indies don’t realise this, world cricket will be at the mercy of India.”

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

Seriously guys, this is going a little overboard with Pakistani Interior Ministers (and sports minister) going in public about it and relating it to peace process and on top of all this, Speaker of National Assembly issuing the order that No Pakistani Parliamentary group will visit India in protest for unspecified period.

Indian Govt has again played its diplomatic (and political) cards correctly distancing itself from the issue (IPL Who sort of reaction) in public although I am sure its behind the issue internally. We should learn how to react to such things. PCB would have been the right body to get involved and at most minister for sports although I don't see it fit that anyone in the Govt getting involved in this (in public). It a f$%*ing private sports league. Do whatever you wana do behind the doors ...

Re: IPL auction: Pakistani players ignored

^^ Do you really think sanity is the major requirement to become minister in Pakistan...

This issue seems to be snowballing into a major controversy !!!!! Did not realise that Afridi and Co were so hell bent upon playing for Mumbai or Bangaluru :D

Is it Indo-Pak "Dosti" or is it just "For few dollars more" ..... only time will tell !!!

Hope people who are going ballistic with this relise that they wre not represting Pakistan .... they would have played from Mumbai or Bangluru or Kolkota teams !!!!

This is so stupid..., imo the best thing that should have been is probably PCB should have pressured ICC to move the worldcup final fixture from Mumbai to any venue outside India & also ensure that all Pakistan matches & all possible Quarter-Final & Semifinal in which Pakistan could have featured to be moved outside India & there was a very legitimate argument for this ..., the BCCI ambigous stance on the safety & VISA issuance was the basis of the 'risk-mitigation' which as claimed by the franchise owners as the basis of exclusion of Pakistani players from the IPL, based on this premise Indian authorities are not capable & impartial enough to hold any worldcup fixture where pakistan is involved.
