intermarrying? incest?

salam all,

as we all know that intermarrying/incest (marrying a close relative like brother, sister, khala, chacha etc) is haraam in islam. if thats the case then how did the human population grew knowing that adam (as) was the first human god made along with his wife (as)?..quran references would be helpful.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

I know that you ask for quranic references I am unable to provide you any at the moment but I like to think that the God who created Adam and Eve could create more women and men for the children of Adam(A.S) to marry I mean the laws of God are eternal so if incest is haram it has been from day 1.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

Just because they were the first ones doesnt mean they were the only ones at that that time! No 1 always gets mentioned. No one remembers no. 2.
Just a thought...

wrong, according to islam rulings have been introduced over time.

the deen was only completed in the latter days of Final Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him

Re: intermarrying? incest?

Allah send down 2 woman as wifes for habil and Qabil.

The custom of marriages between really close relatives was long there before and was stop by Abdul Muttalib, grandfather of the last prophet.

Qabil got jealous of habil and killed him. Qabil later went and settle in Eden and became a fire-worshipper. His descendent were all drowned when the flood of Prophet Nuh came.

Adam and hawa later have Prophet Sheeth and the world population is his descendents

but then they had sisters too, had they married each other there should be mentioning of them in the story when one killed the other i think ...

Re: intermarrying? incest?

Now someone tell me how all the different races and sub-races of the human species came about...

Re: intermarrying? incest?

thats what i thought too.

true maybe adam and his wife were the first human beings god created...and then later on he created more humans which werenot mentuioned.

agreed. there have been changes in islam over the time by god.

ya thats what i have heard and read too....do u know where it mentiones about this in quran?

hmmm that comes to mind too.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

Adam (as) was not the first man, he was the first Prophet! This world is older than 7000 years. You make religious people look so stupid. No wonder.

The Mystic Muhyi ibn Arabi once told the following Story:

Once I had a dream in which I completed my round around the Kaaba. In this dream I saw a man who told me that he is one of my ancestors. I asked him how long has it been that you passed away. The man told me, over 40.000 years. This period is longer than the time which divides us from Adam, I replied. The man asked me who Adam was and of which Adam I was talking. He asked me if I was talking about Adam who was close to me or a different Adam?

Then I remembered a saying which tells us that Allah didn't create less than 100.000 Adams. I was thinking that maybe this man was one of my ancestors who was one of those foregone Adams.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

you are absolutely right but then the absence of a ruling does not necessarily indicate a change in the attitude towards the particular issue for example: you do not have a conversation with your 5 year old son about sex and incest you wait for him to become more mature before you talk about these things with him no? So I believe that the deen was introduced little by little keeping up with the development of the human mind again that does not really indicate that God's attitude towards things changed he just told us about somethings later when we were able to accept them.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

that was totally uncalled for but still thanks for sharing/adding the knowledge.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

you are mixing up israilis religions (jews/christians) with islam. Islam does not give a number in the years

Re: intermarrying? incest?

What do you mean? Can you be exact?

Re: intermarrying? incest?

marrying a mehram is haraam in the shariat of Prophet Mohammed :saw2:. It was not Haraam in the shariat of Adam AS.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

i think * that Bibi Hawwa gave births to twins and the marriage between them was Haraam even at that time when progression of progeny was the ultimate goal. marriage between other siblings were allowed for that period of time because it was the ‘need of the hour’.*

Re: intermarrying? incest?

That is exactly what I was referring to.

Re: intermarrying? incest?

glad to be on the same page! :D

Re: intermarrying? incest?

darwin says the same :rotato:

so any source for such an insightful idea? need of the hour mai rligious rules badal jaatey hain—sorta like today ; )*

Re: intermarrying? incest?

and btw, if Adam wasn't the first human, as some of you are saying, then no need to have twins and worry about marriages, etc etc....humans had already spread on the earth.
