---HOW 'UNIVERSAL STUDIOS' GOT ITS NAME---

UNIVERSAL , one of Hollywood's mightiest and best known
film studios, got its name in a very mundane manner.
No flash of inspiration, no great marketing strategy.
One day in 1912, the studio's founder Carl Laemmle
**(a German immigrant, who landed in the U.S at New York in **
1884 with $40 in his pocket *and had to go through quaran tine ***
***at the Ellis Island) looked out of his New York office window
*
and saw a van drive past with the name 'Universal Pipe Fitting'
emblazoned on the side. Aha, he thought, UNIVERSAL --- a
very good name for his new film production company,
AND
THAT WAS THAT !!!

MIANJEE

If you happen to drive down from Islamabad to Lahore
via Grand Trunk Road (of Shershah Suri), do not miss

the opportunity to have lunch or supper at
MIANJEE RESTAURANT
just a few kilometers away from LalaMusa.

Mianjee started his restaurant from a DHAABA
on the main G.T.Road in late 60's..and now
there's this big ground floor infrastructure
constructed with modern decor..fully airconditioned

but the Dhaaba..now next to it..still stands with memories.

WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT MIANJEE RESTAURANT?

Mianjee specialises in CHANNAY KI DAAL cooked
in very special and purest desi ghee...having a
special taste due to Mianjee's secret formulae
like that of Col. Sanders of KFC for chicken.

CHANNAY DI DAAL with tarka and red roti
is heavenly IF you have skipped your breakfast!

MIANJEE..who started with 10,000 rupees investment
on Dhaaba in sixties...is now a Millionaire
and it was in 2000 that he added more to the menu
then CKD only.....but whoever visits or stops-by
at MIANJEES on G.T.Road...does so for CKD only...

I recommend that you too do that...should an
occasion or opportunity takes you to Lahore by
G.T.Road drive from Islamabad or vice versa.

Khush Rahein...!

Re: INTERESTING LIVES and INTERESTING FACTS

A touching mail I received on my hotmail domain...
Thought to share it with you all.................................Raju
======================================

I ONLY WISH I COULD (*read to the bottom)
================================

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.
She said, "I love you, but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you."

**The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years,
but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.**
"What's wrong, are you well?" she asked. My mother
is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

**"I thought that it would be pleasant to spend some time with you." I responded. "Just the two of us."

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house,
I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date.**
She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she
had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

**She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

"I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed." she said as
she got into the car."They can't wait to hear about our meeting."

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy.**
**My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.
After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries,
I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.

"It was I who used to have to read the menu when you
were small." she said.**
**"Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching up on recent
events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. **
**As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home.

"Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn't have a
chance to do anything for her. Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant
receipt from the same place mother and I had dined. An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance.
I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless,

I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife.

You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I LOVE YOU" and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time
they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time."
**
***Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby.... somebody
doesn't know that once you're a mother,"normal" is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct.... somebody never took a three-year-old
shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring.... somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a
driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good".... somebody thinks a child
comes with directions and a guarantee. ***
Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices.... somebody never came out the back door
just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

***Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.... somebody never helped a fourth grader
with his math.

Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first.... somebody doesn't have
two children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books...
somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery.... somebody never watched her
"baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back....
somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married.... somebody doesn't know that
marriage adds a new son or daughter-in- law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home.... somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her.... somebody isn't a mother.

Pass this along to all the "mothers" in your life, and to everyone who ever had a mother.

This isn't just about being a mother, it's about appreciating the people in your life while you have
them.... no matter who that person is.***

Leap Day[Feb 29]
This is about another date that’s coming up. A nephew of mine helped out a friend of his. He’s had a crush on this girl for the longest time and he’s never been able to tell her. She’s completely clueless when it comes to computers so she usually calls him up. He’d fix her computer and act as her 24/7 personal tech support. She asked him out for dinner on
Leap Day the 29th!
***My nephew’s friend is ecstatic about it of course. Being the natural geek that he is, he knows all the trivia behind events and dates. ***

“According to superstition, Leap Day is the date when women propose to men! And, get this–they cannot refuse,” educated by my nephew to me:)

Re: INTERESTING LIVES and INTERESTING FACTS

*Discover the 90/10 Principle. *
(Author: Stephen Covey)

**It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations). **

**What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. **

**What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. **

**We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. **
**A driver may cut us off in traffic. **

**We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%. **

**How?……….By your reaction. **

**You cannot control a red light. but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react. **

**Let's use an example. **
**You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. **
**You have no control over what just happened. **

**What happens next will be determined by how you react. **

**You curse. **

**You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. **

**Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. **

**After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. **
**As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. **
**You look forward to coming home. **

**When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. **
**Why? …. Because of how you reacted in the morning. **

**Why did you have a bad day? **
**A) Did the coffee cause it? **
**B) Did your daughter cause it? **
**C) Did the policeman cause it? **
**D) Did you cause it? **

**The answer is “D". **
**You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. **

**Here is what could have and should have happened. **

**Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "Its ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having. **

**Notice the difference? **

**Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. **

**Why? **

**Because of how you REACTED. **

**You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction. **

**Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. **
**You don't have to let the negative comment affect you! **

**React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc. **

**How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them? **

**WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive? **
**Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it. **

**You are told you lost your job. **

**Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. **

The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take outpour frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on.

**Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse. **

**Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle. **

**The result? **

**Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle. **

**It CAN change your life!!! **

**Enjoy….! **

Yeah, that’s what life really is! :bummer: Truely said “No one remembers you when you’re right and no one forgets you, when you’re wrong”:hinna:

Re: INTERESTING LIVES and INTERESTING FACTS

Classic!

Let me though, put it as it is;

"When I am right----No one remembers!
*** When I am wrong—No one forgets!"***

Re: INTERESTING LIVES and INTERESTING FACTS

What to do in case; some one like me and Shakespeare says.......

What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. :@:

***The attached image is a HDR shot of Montreal. The original Photoshop Document was compressed twice…once for web placement and the second time for mailing. This will have affected the resolution of the image but, nevertheless, it’s a fine example of HDR photography.

After downloading the attached pic, slide it through your keyboard’s

I am now trying a HDR cyber-shot of Karachi from the 16th floor rooftop of my BON VISTA Complex in Clifton through my Canon 12.2 megapixel.

Re: INTERESTING LIVES and INTERESTING FACTS

Left-Handed United States Presidents

***There has been a great tradition of left-handed presidents, especially in recent years. This is a list that appears on a lot of websites...

James A. Garfield (1881) 20th
Herbert Hoover (1929-1933) 31st
Harry S. Truman (1945-1953) 33rd
Gerald Ford (1974-1977) 38th
Ronald Reagan (1981 -1989) 40th
George H.W. Bush (1989-1993) 41st
Bill Clinton (1993-2001) 42nd
**
**There is some doubt about Hoover and Reagan as some images seem to show both of then writing right-handed, *
*but often images get flipped unintentionally. **

**The "Left Handed History Of The World" book includes Reagan among the left-handed presidents - was he made to change hands for writing? **
**Does anyone know for sure? **

**What IS interesting is that BOTH of the leading U.S. Presidential candidates this year are left-handed writers - **
***Barack Obama and John McCain.

They both seem to have a bit of a "hook" in the writing style as well! If one of them does become the next US president ***
**(and assuming Reagan is a natural left-hander), **
**that will be 5 out of the last 7 (71%) **
**when only about 10% of the population are left-handed. **

Go Lefties!
