you can claim it but you can't justify it.
story of every single post of yours on this thread, bibi. if we needed justifications, you wouldn't make the cut. :)

how does hedonism coincide with religion?
what is the ultimate aim of the religious human, but the pursuit of eternal pleasure in "hereafter"?
yeah right....being harsh doesn't make me wrong. If you have something against what i've said then present your argument instead of talking about your observation which have nothing to do with the topic.
You were addressed with questions by a couple of members... which u chose to ignore. I was following the thread.. and hence it's an observation CONNECTED to the thread.
Clears-up everything.. I never said you were wrong.. I was however waiting for logical reasoning to your bold statement.
NO religion allows you to mock another person's belief. (even if that person doesn't blv in God)

whenever i put you on the spot you change the topic.

LOL. you are going on ignore for your dishonesty, hareem.
another instance of religiously inclined folks lacking simple everyday morality.
^ LOL wait a min, rewind that... who's in the 'spot'?

that is interesting but adopting an atheist perspective, hereafter is a load of balloney anyway so hedonism doesnt come into picture. and those who will look at it religiously will tell you if hedonism is the base of virtue than way to hell if paved with good intentions.
All atheists and secret supporters of atheists.
Here is a little thing.
Lets just leave God aside for a min. Unless you have a code of ethics and medium to address masses in underdeveloped country; you shouldn't really make too much noise.
NO GOD thing works fine in developed countries. Where social structure is developed.
Talking against religion is easy; try playing God your self in an underdeveloped country and you will know what is like to keep ppl human and what religion does for ppl.
NO God thing talk is good discussion for coffee houses only.

an atheists perspective is for his own thoughts and actions, and a believers perspective for a believers thoughts and actions. the greed for heaven is purely a believer's drive who is fully convinced of an afterlife. hence, "hedonism" is fully justified as a qualification to this pursuit as well.
i am familiar with the concept of hedonism being the base of virtue. in fact, i have even heard strange things from god-men that a good deed is a sin if it is not done with the intention of pleasing the supreme being for a place in heaven.
go figure. morality?

Quran talks about Unbelievers and a disease in their heart in many places if you read.
Surah9
123. O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.
124. Whenever there cometh down a sura, some of them say: "Which of you has had His faith increased by it?" Yea, those who believe,- their faith is increased and they do rejoice.
125. But those in whose hearts is a disease,- it will add doubt to their doubt, and they will die in a state of Unbelief.
This discussion has turned into a personal thing and as usual you are siding a team against a member of this forum. I don't want to add anything to this fight, you can carry on fighting with your buddies queer, jaanwar etc.
^ See there we go.. that's what I wanted! It wasn't that hard was it? It's anything but personal hareem..
And where do u see me 'fighting' with my buddies? LOL

Okay if nothing's personal I take my words back. No hard feelings.

hmm so you are debunking the morality of the religion based on the pleasure being seeked in hereafter? i donot think you can say greed for heaven is purely the reason of a believer.that is certainly a matter of perspective. the true believers would do it because of innate morality. the ones who get the top marks are the ones who who arent after the top comforts. most religion would,i think, confirm this. In islam they are called the ones who seek Allah rather then heaven. I wouldnt call it hedonism that is the driving force, rather the innate search of divine truth.
the true believers would do it because of innate morality
welcome, closet atheist. ;-)
on a more serious note, i have zero issues with the perspective you present, croquet.
why can't we learn to respect what other people believe in? there is no harm in disagreeing but to to think that you are better than somebody else based on your beliefs is disappointing (IMO).
kia panga kerwa dia
Next time don’t use such a general statement. Desi is just too broad of a term for such a sensitive topic.
If some one’s folks believe in a god with truck-nose and 9 hands sure he is gonna grow into an atheist. What surprises you there??
I had a roommates who would tell me fasting is “bul****” on first of Ramadan while I am fasting. Called islam crap a million times on my face. SO much for atheist being face of morality and ethics My A$$.
I mean those dudes are driven by 50% shame of their 7handed creator and 50% of why “we” ruled them for 1000 years.
What so frekin hard to understand there???
I mean all they do is; put words against words.
They never say what they present or what they defend, they are no body when we want to go on offense. But when they want to go on offense they are every one(use all idiologies agianst us). We have hader job to protect oufr set of beliefs.
Now every one close your thesauruses which u use to write posts. PRESENT IDEAS not words!!!
Go to sleep.
I don’t like this place too much. sigh..
Re: Intellectual show offs.
And mirch if you think I am lying I can tell you a test to check how genuine the those "atheist" are.
Very simple test, works 100% of the time.

ha!
PS: glad i could explain my perspective.

I would think that believers are more interested in avoiding the severe eternal punishment (such as that prescribed in the Quran) than in pursuing the pleasures in heaven. Hence, I don't think they are being hedonistic...rather they are avoiding eternal hell. This part of your argument is not convincing.
Re: Intellectual show offs.
you are right, jojo. hedonism was too strong a word.
