India's proud heritage

Re: India’s proud heritage

I think except Kerala everywhere it is the same.

No.We are not.The topic is India’s proud heritage. But there is one temple in Kerala,Sabrimala where people from all religions are welomed. The deity there even has Islamic connections. His friend was a Muslim and there is a shrine dedicated to him.

Something that is a sharp contrast.

This is also a part of India’s heritage. The ability to assimilate all ,despite differences.

The OP will be quite happy to see this.We are discussing India’s proud heritage. :champ:

Re: India's proud heritage

uh oh! Indians are proud of their heritage again!

Re: India's proud heritage

^ :)

Re: India's proud heritage

Be proud of whats factual...

Re: India's proud heritage

Anyway for the record my discussions with Arleitter had nothing to do with being proud. I was simply answering his questions re the temple. Didn't realize everything has to be about pride. Oh well.

Re: India's proud heritage

Well you can also be proud of Indias rich mythology I suppose. In the realm of the utterly unbelievable, Indian mythology is still better positioned then the Greek version or indeed many others.

As crazy as it sounds, the belief in giant flying metal cities (ships) with advanced technology, highly unlikely but not completely.

The problem here is that Modi tries to package mythology as facts.

Re: India's proud heritage

^ True. There are plenty doing chest thumping - so I thought I will sit this pride thing out.

Re: India's proud heritage

We do not know anything about super natural powers.

+

Mythology is there in each and every religion.

Re: India's proud heritage

Yeah, but one shouldnt make the supernatural and mythological the basis for identity. A country that prides itself on Secularism shouldnt be indulging in such things. Reason and logic, objective truths should form the crux of your Identity. If there are genuine accomplishments in your society, why resort to flying cities and ancient super weapons ? Unless they (the Hindu Right wing) dont believe that the genuine accomplishments of their society are sufficient enough, or worthy enough, to justify their hyperinflated Hindutva narrative?

Re: India's proud heritage

^ Why do you hate Hindus?

Re: India's proud heritage

Sometimes I hate all religious people. But then you meet some good ones. but then I hate the good ones too, because they make it difficult to hate them.

If they would only indulge me by being absolute a-holes, life would be a lot simpler.

Re: India’s proud heritage

Indians now have placed the head of an idiot brainless racist face on human body and made him their PM. No rigging of election is the prerequisite there.

Re: India's proud heritage

The problem with India was,it had forgotten it's past.Mr.Modi is revamping it. That's all.No country or society or civilization can move on without admiring it's past. For ex:Japan.

Some great initiatives have been taken in this regard. For ex:Restarting Nalanda University that reopened after 800 years!!!

Re: India's proud heritage

Re: India's proud heritage

Yeah, but once again, im talking about things that are historical facts concerning your past. Be proud of those things. What Modi is doing is using religious myths to create a false historical narrative.

And when it comes out of these Hindutva types, its scary, because it seems to be an attempt to instil in Hindus a false sense of superiority, which can lend itself toward bigotry, xenophobia and prejudice.

Re: India's proud heritage

On a personal note I do not believe Mahabharata and Ramayana as mythological stories but real. :)

Re: India's proud heritage

Bro,being a Hindu,I believe in Vedas,Upanishad's and Purana's.Nothing can alter my beliefs in them.I believe these are essential for India to move on. Forgetting it's rich culture and past was the greatest mistake Indians did.

Re: India's proud heritage

Well, thats fine for you, but yours is a secular country that separates religion and politics. So you should as a citizen of a secular country, be wary of anyone who injects religion into the political milieu.

Re: India's proud heritage

Yes.I believe in the same platform that you believe,Bro :) That is being religious does not mean that one is a religious bigot. :)
