Re: India's proud heritage
oldest trick in the books! what's a way to not accept one's mistake? Find an excuse like you did!
don't worry. I know you have read it and won't insist you admit it.

Re: India's proud heritage
That is the problem with you. I haven't read past the first sentence. And don't intend to. Done see the point in lying abt such things. Are you projecting?
Am co fused about the excuse part. Since I have clearly stated I have absolutely no problems in admitting when I have my facts or logic wrong. You must be projecting again?
This is the reason I didn't want to go down this road.
Congratulations on your victory. I concede.
Re: India's proud heritage
She married quite young. Thanks to a very progressive husband though, she managed to get an education and convince local Hindu leaders to allow her to pursue a higher degree. Initially she was meant to go to England, but apparently her education there was contingent on her becoming Christian, which she would not do and neither would the Hindu community allow. But her cause was taken up by Americans who arranged for her to study at a Pennsylvania Quaker run medical school. This was around the mid 1800s, and she was about 18 at the time. She graduated as a doctor and returned to India where she died shortly thereafter from a chronic illness in about 1887... she was very famous at the time, and I believe she met the queen.
That is definitely very progressive and before it's time. Very broad minded of the Americans to accept her despite her being rejected by Europeans. I wish her story was known more or she had been around longer to contribute more to society.
Re: India’s proud heritage
Muslims poorer than most in Gujarat, says economist - TOI Mobile | The Times of India Mobile Site
In Gujarat muslims have been losing ground. Their graduation fate is lower than SCSTs. Rather than say they are poor BECAUSE their graduation rate is lower, maybe it is time to acknowledge that the reason for lower graduation may be related to poorer infrastructure in muslim areas.
The hypothesis of one side is muslims are poor because their girls don’t get education. My contention is that they are subject to more roadblocks BECAUSE of their religion
Re: India's proud heritage
Wrt muslims being shut out of home ownership in certain areas - a house in say Bombay for 25000 Rs in 1970 now goes for 1 crore. A 21 pct annual compounded return.
Home ownership is one way folks gain wealth in India. And Muslims for most part have been shut out.
Honest folks would have no problem acknowledging this.
Re: India’s proud heritage
I have already quoted and explained what the NSSO survey actually says - that is the same survey this gentleman is using as well. Except he picks up a small subsection and uses it to his end. Why don’t you read the NSSO yourself instead of simply looking for easy way?

So actual studies and calculated poverty rates mean less to you than this sort of subjective commentary? What makes you think muslims in Bombay have not bought land and houses? How many areas in Bombay are actually not just majority but almost exclusively muslim? any strata within Bombay whether it be the multi-million dollar business/bollywood range or the Rs.150/day slum dweller, Muslims and non-muslims have pretty much the same. A muslim hut in dharavi costs the same as a non-muslim hut. And nobody shut muslims out of dharavi or cuffe parade.
How many outright villages and towns have become muslim whether it be north or south of India over past three decades?
Stop grasping at imaginary straws and try to understand real data instead of trying to find ways of proving the stand you took with no basis.
Re: India's proud heritage
^ sorry. I made my position clear. Can't discuss with you. Also I have conceded victory.
I may post further information as relevant. But I don't intend to read ur response. My goal is to share info I find relevant. Whether u disagree or not is not my concern. I don't intend to have a meaningless debate to score points.
Cheers
Re: India's proud heritage
Of course. No doubt about it.
In Mr. Modi's case, there is ample information for reasonable, honest and unbiased people to conclude that "just because Mr. Modi was found not guilty, it does not mean he is innocent"
When the list of reasonable, honest and unbiased people includes Ms. Teesta Setalvad lots, the the true meaning of that list becomes complete!!!
Political vendetta is the crux of the list.
Re: India's proud heritage
No idea who that is. And don't care to know.
Anyway have a good day.

Yes. Last time we went the queue was very long. And we had to leave soon. My bro and parents used influence to go past the queue. I had to decline. So couldn't get darshan. It is a serene atmosphere inside.
I believe outside the temple is stated "Hindus only"

It seems Mr.Das himself is not in a mood to agree to temple people's diktat.

What does diktat mean. If I understand this correctly you mean the temple has laid down some conditions that Mr. Das doesn't want to abide by?

That Mr.Das himself has clarified that he is krishna Bhakt. What is harm in allowing him in to temple? It seems he has sung numerous Lord Krishna songs and his own songs are enjoyed even by the temple people!!! I do not understand why such division is in place. If one is a true follower /believer,and is ready to follow the temple guidelines, what is harm in permitting that person in to temple?
Re: India's proud heritage
I agree. Whoever wants to enter the temple should be allowed to do so. Even if Mr. Das didn't say he was a Krishna Bhakt, he should be allowed to enter the temple.
In the North, things are better in this regard. (Are we flooding?)
