It is not so much of what is achieved as portrayed and the so called success which is pushed in to the minds of gullible people.
It is about short term and immediate gratification and eventually forcing the mankind in to extremely devastating and futile collision path of fighting in to the space.
Basically taking the viciousness, animalistic behavior of killing each other even outside earth.
Mankind needs to respect the ONLY possible homeland called Earth and STOP polluting it not only physically but by removing the territorial and ideological animosities and move forward to make EARTH a peaceful place before trying to show muscles and abilities to places like MARS or whatever.
Stupid and idiot but cunning, mischievous so called scientists love to make people of earth live in fantasy worlds and thereby make a fortune out of it.
Gullible people fall for it.
Human resources being wasted on these useless efforts and millions if not billions live in poverty, hunger, and unhealthy conditions.
Lastly, it does not matter who does these ludicurous acts, (I care less if Indian metal structure brought a picture from far away) any nation or country will be wrong in wastage of energy and resources when problems of motherland EARTH has not been solved.
Earth belongs to human and Human belong to Earth. Period.
Human cannot live outside earth and there is plenty to do to make earth happy so MANKIND can live happily.
space exploration has no benefit besides colonization? even a high school student can see the merit in this, but evolution-denying flatlanders probably are safest in their dogmatic cocoons.
ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani explorer expected to become her country’s first person in space congratulated India on Thursday on reaching Mars on its maiden attempt.
India won the Asian space race to the red planet on Wednesday when its unmanned Mangalyaan successfully entered the red planet’s orbit after a 10-month journey on a budget of just $74 million.
Despite having a space agency since 1961 Pakistan has not yet launched a satellite into orbit.
But Namira Salim, the first Pakistani explorer to reach both poles said India’s achievement had made the region proud.
**“The success of the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), Mangalyaan, is a giant leap for South Asia,” said Salim, who has booked a ticket on Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic space project planned for 2015.
**
**“I commend the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), and all its scientists and researchers for not only achieving this astronomical feat, but also for achieving it in the most cost-effective manner.”

**Pakistan has not yet officially congratulated India. The neighbours have fought three wars.
Relations between the two countries have taken a turn for the worse after Pakistan’s top envoy met Kashmiri separatist leaders in August, with India responding by calling off talks between the countries’ foreign secretaries.
True. I think we can also say congratulations are in order for going the extra mile. In this case, millions of extra mile, all the way to Mars. Amazing accomplishment!

Actually two real benefits for space ventures exist ... One is to get rid of harmful radioactive waste ... and two is to scout asteroids and moons for minerals and use them for mining material back to Earth.
I think sending an orbiter to the planets is not really a milestone ... It is not pushing the edge of the science we currently have - other nations have done that earlier. What the next milestone is on the space frontiers point of view is to:
a) Retrieve probes that are sent out on distant missions
b) Man the moon in a breathable environment - artificial biosphere project - where people are coming and going, magnetic deflectors for solar flares

Tell that to the millions of us who just wish to see the farthest reaches of the universe. Beneficial or not, the passion just endeavors ignite in mankind is worth way more than a few million dollars. That passion then leads to hundreds of other inventions that do prove beneficial to us.
I remember when I was a kid and some NASA folks visited our school. I watched them as they told us about what they did and what they had seen beyond our world. I looked at them and in that moment I wanted to see it all, know it all, experience it all. It made me dream of another kind of world. It made me ME. I will never forget.
