Who made riots the only criterion?
The issue is State treatment of minorities, please look up the first post and the thread title.
There are no minority riots in Saudi Arabia. but would you want to be a Christian in the Kingdom today?
Do you claim that Pakistan treats non-Muslims better than India treats non-Hindus? If so, list some criteria other than the nunber of riots and post some facts.
well riots because joe-prasad is the chief criminal here. and community bloodbaths are to my mind the most reprehensible, visible, repugnant display possible of decaying social cohesion.
anyway. since we're talking proportionate violence here, i believe u should be looking for 1/6th of the figure instead of 1/50th across the border to make a fair comparison. im not aware of us even being close to killing 1/50th of minorities compared to the cumulative thousands upon thousands of minorities roasted in india over the years.
Amazing how someone from a coutnry which murdered 3 million of its own citizens and gave awards to the killers can even get the audacity to post the above nonsense
When you compare the deaths in the riots, you must compare the differential, at the risk of sounding so callous.
Over the years, riots in India have killed thousands of Hindus as well.
Does your government even keep track of anti-minority violence? In India our lawmakers have appointed an independtently funded non-partisan agency to track and report on communal violence.
This commission was the one responsible for publicising the atrocities in Gujarat and elsewhere.
The mark of a tolerant society is not that there is no injustice anywhere. It is that when injustice occurs the victims have rights to redress grievances.
When Christian missionaries were killed, India punished the guilty and even sentenced leaders to death. Even in the Gujarat carnage, even thought the State Govt is hostile the Supreme Court has forced it to act.
WE do have some convictions already. It is a miniscule number, but I’d bet that once Modi is voted out, all these cases will be back and many more will be punished.
OTOH, you guys don’t have many anti-minority riots but do have legalized abuse in the form of Hudood laws. But not one person has been punished for abusing those laws isn’t it? Besides, by enacting these laws your government itself says that its okay to mistreat other faiths. Your govenrment also periodically sponsored extremist groups that have butchered other sects within Muslims as well. I don’t see any examples of the Gilgit type riot organizers or Blasphemy abusers being punished in Pakistan.
The difference is simple. In India, large numbers of minorities have been killed and there were riots where the reverse have also occurred. But the State institutions as a whole have always tilted in favor of protecting the minorities when empowered. That is why, despite the odds, we have had minorities who have been leaders and successful businessmen. If Sikhs were marginalized after the 1984 riots, how come our PM is a Sikh and our next Army chief too is going to be a Sardar?
The difference is in the institutions and democratic mechanisms.

The Auqaat-less usually resort to abuses. I pity your condition
Thats not really true. People with sense when they become frustrated while facing unbelieveable stupidity also resort to abuses.

Actually the thread title is "Indian Muslims - An Oppressed Minority". Dont u hate it when things back fire?

2. The government and the courts have stepped in to punish the culprits on most occasions
We are discussing religous minority abuses in India. Not the justice system. The fact that inspite of a pure and perfect justice system (i'm not gonna get into that) there are more abuses just makes it worse for u.
5. World community and Human Rights groups have always said that Indian treatment of minorities is better than that of Pakistan
Given India's minority population being 50 times more than Pakistan's, India's minority deaths are proportionately much less than in Pakistan.
Good the last two are atleast relevant and I cant expect much better. Can u prove the last two with regards to religous minorities and not bringing in ethnic or sectarian minorities?!!!!
Amazing how someone from a coutnry which murdered 3 million of its own citizens and gave awards to the killers can even get the audacity to post the above nonsense ;)

Childish side stepping. Expected nothing more from the likes of you.
By the way, I fail to see your example's relevance to minorities. Furthermore, it was a one time wartime incident. Not an ongoing problem which India seems to have. All you have to do is ask any Indian Muslim. And sikhs... I don't even need to go there.
^^ and also people's attitudes. you people go against the system to victimise minorities, in our case the system can sometimes work against minorities. where is the impulse in ordinary people to be animals stronger?
and considering its eventually the people who run the system (re: modi) eventually the system doesnt really help.. ie. police aiding mobs in hacking people down.

That's just your opinion Mister.
Most people would say that having access to equal facilities, protection, education, social services etc. counts equally important.
Riots happen in India because both sides have the power to attack. In Pakistan, non-Muslims are worse than turd through decades of institutionalized bigotry and threats.

Yes. let's ask the ones here ;)
You seem to have many many "one time" incidents BTW. If you ask the Jews in Europe whether they would rate the slow and occasional anti-Semitism of today to the "one time wartime incident" of the Holocaust, you'd get a clear answer ;)

Keeping track???? I wouldnt trust the 'track' of the indian gov and neither would u trust the any Pak gov organnizations. There are enough NGO's in both countrys for u not to have made that remark.

christians/hindus have equal access to protection, education and social services.
sure. which is why when mostly minorities die, its basically because hindus eat a lot of super strength giving daal and veggies?
BTW, why does you PM have to swear "I'm a Muslim or good character etc."
What aspirations can a non-Muslim have in Pakistan?
Thats because we are not and do not claim to be a secular country.

Sikhs and Christians in India are on average richer and more educated than Hindus.
There goes your theory
U havent provided any references. But if I take u for ur word, then that would imply that the hindu majority is slower in wit then I imagined, and might explain their tendencies to stick pick axes in the richer and smarted sikhs and christians.
Huh. Why do your govt text books make Islamic studies and virtues of jihad compulsory for kids?
Why hasn't anyone been punished for falsely accusing Christians of Blasphemy?
so much for what you know. they're not compulsory, you can take civics instead of islamiat during matric/fsc (which is when the government imposes a curriculum to begin with)
and i dont know why. but the legal recourse is there no? since you're such a big fan of systems being in place while people are busy hacking away at others, that should keep you happy..
Nope, minorities die because Hindu thugs outnumber them in many riots.
There were many many riots were more Hindus died as well. Moplah, Bhiwandi etc. etc.
great.. so violence can happen when one community outnumbers the others. your point was that it doesnt happen because we outnumber them... wasnt it?
interesting how you ignored my previous post.....and jumped to the next one. your pathetic attempts at 'clever' little insults won't get you anywhere, they just make you look like a moron.

oh great, so now my words make me look like an indian. Thank you for providing me information on azim premji, and it was good to know that he was not among the people killed by the mobs in India.
