Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Pir Saheb,

You really made a mess of my name. Who has a good experience of dealing with a call centre executive. I avoid talking to these people. It is a pain in the neck and pain everywhere else.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

o yaaar, thats a way us pakistanis refer to friends.
like pp dont use my nick as Fraudz or even fraudia, they either call me fraudz (usually the abcd/bcd types..usually but not always) and the desi yaars call me fraudiyay.

rafiq becomes feeqa, and he is called, oye feeqaaay

so butchering names in this way is to make someone feel welcome ..

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

My calls to British Airways are re-routed to their ticketing office in Frankfurt and I have never had a problem.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Well it basically depends upon how robust, reliable and user friendly system is supporting the call centres executives in discharging their duties. It is a job which can chew people. They have to maintain politeness eventhough they face racial slur regularly. No surprise..s many of them suffer from depleting emotional inventories..face depression and get out of the job within few years and look for other avenues.

Theek hai aap ki baat maan lete hain.
Pyar se pilaoge to log zahar bhi pee lete hain.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

aur hum toh lassi pila rahay hain waisay bhi..

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Vaah ustaad vaah...sardi ke mausam main lassi pilaoge..Itna zulm.

Now don't tell me that lassi can be frothy hot:)

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Yup, leave with their dignity intact; why sell yourself for a few dollars.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Janaab aap kahin door baith kar badi badi baaten kar rahe ho. Which asian country has a rosy picture about employment ?. For most of Asians getting one square meal a day itself is a hurculean task and you expect them to be choosers. Atleast people should thank private which has been creating jobs for all.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Yes it is. But does getting 'square meal' require racial slurs by international customers? Hey, you said it yourself that they quit because they can't handle the racial hostility and other issues. On one hand they put up with racial slurs, and on another they are emotionally drained to the point they quit few years down the road. I say it's a lose-lose proposition.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Yes majority of them leave never to come back. Regarding racial slur...nowadays calls from the clients are also monitored and a pre warning is given.

When all types of jobs are moving to Asian countries, it is but natural for people in the Western world to feel upset.

Why should a customer finance somebody's lifestyle if he has to buy a product from him. Western wolrd is learning it. Keep watching Europe and tell me how it will look ten years down the line.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

I guess that must've been totally unacceptable because Dell was forced to fold it's call centers in India. :D

I can't sit and watch tv let alone watch Europe for 10 years. How about watch China trounce India? I say that'll happen in 15 years.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

You don't have patience for 10 years but seems to have it for 15 years. Kya khaate ho janaab :).

China will not trounce India....these fellows are itching to sell their produce in India which no Indian wants to buy. I mean Made in China stuff not what Dell or IBM are making in China.

China now talks business and it must... afterall it is 1.25 Bio of them to feed like we have 1 Bio to feed.

Please refrain from wasteful posts a'la #31 & #32 and stay on topic. Moderators can't correct all your posts, they have lives too.

China will indeed trounce India. The myth surrounding India is that it's more open to foreign businesses than China. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

China is indeed ahead of India in size of economy exports. Way ahead. To the extent that a majority of retail stores have to close down if Chinese exports stop.

However all the signs are that India is catching up on many fronts. You are right that foreign business think India is more open but hundreds of foreign companies already do business in China, not only for importinf from there.

But India has been making some smart moves ... that should not be denied ....which are beginning to pay rich dividends.

Also on the subject of Dell, one thing I don't understand. Do they make and market PCs in India or only offshoring call center stuff?

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

^
they folded their call centers after a huge volume of complaints from customers.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

There is no myth surrounding India. Come and visit India and see how business is done. You are probably tom tomming China because of relation Pakistan enjoys with China. Who gives a damn for the Chinese technology..which is nothing but copy of other technologies because they believe that copyright is their right to copy.

Why India has attracted R&D investment in various sectors...it is because of very low incidence of IP rights violation and patent infringement.

Chinese economy is definitely growing at a pace much faster than India...there is no denying of this fact and it is because of much more conducive FDI environment Chinese govt has created unlike India where bureacratic hurdles are still rife.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

Dell manufactures its PC's in China but has quite a good market share in India.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

If Dell closed in India then why they have 20000 people there? that's why I thought may be they closed call center but are doing may be other things there.

Re: Outsourcing - Most Popular Destination

You are getting defensive about China because China is bound to outpace India in FDI. Read on.

Hu Jin Tao (he the Chinese president) has given the country a mandate to innovate. They will be kick the crap out of Indians soon. :D

India is a very corrupt country. You think an foreign investor stands a chance in suing an Indian outfit. Get real.

That's true. And, now Chinese have embarked on the glorious road to innovation, they'll soon be reducing India's share of FDI. You better brush up on your Mandarin. :D

PS: If you speak Urdu, you don't have to learn Mandarin.
