*In my opinion, SL did not deserve to win the worldcup. They did not defeat a worthy nation (yes they beat a jaded England and mediocre NZ twice). They lost to Pakistan, drew with Aussies. On the other hands, India beat Australia, Pakistan and Lankans in consecutive games. Their bowling SUCKED of late and India had a well rounded edge to their game against them... *
Thats true though they started the tournamen as one of the favorites but their 'convincing' performance came only against minnows, even today their fielding sucked, their bowling was nothing to shout about.

BATTING is the key i.e. ODIs are won mainly by batsmen. You can still get away with a modest bowling attack if your batters are exceptional but rarely the otherway around.

Batting is the key, only bowling can't win you all the matches. It needs strong support from Batting.
look at the total in Mohali, bowling restricted India to 260, but batting crashed like always...

BATTING is the key i.e. ODIs are won mainly by batsmen. You can still get away with a modest bowling attack if your batters are exceptional but rarely the otherway around.
I was talking about Lankans that their bowling sucked like anything and their batting stopped after a superb top 4. So they need more work than Pakistan for example to win matches consistently.

As the SL captain said, the only way to win against India in cricket is after you have dismissed 7 of their batsmen. I think all of them have been crucial in some match or other without which we wouldn't have won.
