Before independence muree and shimla were developed alike by the british. But i have never been to muree or shimla. but heard a lot of good things about muree ( especially the beverages :D )
but i was told by the same guy that rampant construction and crowd has actually degraded shimla. i hope the case is not same with muree.
yeah Murree was developed by British .....and yeah beverages are famous in Murree
and ur right about rampant construction in murree too ......sadly it has lost his charm
I have visited both the places. architecture is just breath taking.more then 1000 year old took some 100 years to complete.i dunno how they lifted those huge stones in those bc days.madurai has one speciality all the four shrines in (north, east, west, south corner) are exact in measurement not even 1cm deference.some of biggest statue inside are built on single stone mind bliwing
Lol. i knew that but i didnt want to confuse the people on this forum. thanks for correcting me.
i am compiling some good photos of the temples you mentioned. i am saving them and few others for later.
i remember seeing a show on discovery channel where they tried to investigate how those people managed to put a 90 ton stone on top of such a huge temple. Remarkable
I am pretty sure it is agatti islands as i got them from same travel site.
but then i wont be surprized if they used maldives pic since lakshdweep is pretty close to maldives.
i will double check

may be you are right, tour companies who work in maldives also work in lakshdweep. they may have swapped the pics.
please go ahead and remove the second pic.
my apologies for the confusion.
Pic of the Day: Ellora Rock Cut Temples, Maharashtra
From images it doesnt look much but you have to be there to appreciate the g*****ose and beauty of these structures. Especially during mansoon when many water falls flow from right above it.
It hand cut right in to the rock mountain. every thing is carved out, nothing brought in.
There are 34 such caves in Ellora itself and there are total 1200 cave temples spread across in 4 states. and still more caves are being found
