India most racist country in world suggests world report.

When two Swedish economists set out to examine whether economic freedom made people any more or less racist, they knew how they would gauge economic freedom, but they needed to find a way to measure a country’s level of racial tolerance. So they turned to something called the World Values Survey, which has been measuring global attitudes and opinions for decades.
**
• Anglo and Latin countries most tolerant.

• India, Jordan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong by far the least tolerant.

• The Middle East not so tolerant.

…and wait for it

• Pakistan, remarkably tolerant**

A fascinating map of the world’s most and least racially tolerant countries

I suspected india of having discrimination problems no surprise, bangledesh was a surprise, hong kong have aggressive attitude as anyone who has been there will confirm  , but pakistan is more tolerant than Germany as the report suggests some good news for the pakistanis.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

Could it be because Pakistan for the most part has a homogenous community; whereas other nations have a lot more ethnicities (lingual-based, or religion-based) residing there? :chai:

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

I think the survey is racist and the people who did this was pissed because some Indian took their tech job :biggthumb:

That said, I do not discount the fact that we Indians are a tad bit racist. As teggy rightly pointed out we are a people with diverse cultures and it is a fact that we have survived as one nation and still looking strong inspite of all these. That surely means that we Indians are not as racist as made out to be.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

Who would Indians don't want to see as their neighbors? Is it like Northern Indians not wanting Southern Indians, and vice versa?

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

Pakistanis are pretty intolerable when it comes to religious biases. I think we performed well on racial ground for this very reason.
It probably happened because Pakistanis are more comfortable living around with people of their religious background. Race becomes secondary to this.

On the other hand, the survey may be totally flawed due to wrong sampling. Pakistanis might be more racist than what this single uncorroborated survey tells.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

not sure i have ever come across as a less credible survey.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

I wonder why? if it said India respects all minorities and is most tolerant nation you would be praising the report!

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

be honest with yourself.

any nation that has multiple ethnicities residing within is bound to have racism. The survey does not take that bit into account. So don't feel compelled to become a fireball because India got mentioned with nations that have racism. The truth of the survey is masked by the omission of the truth that racism would exist wherever there are multiple ethnicities/nationalities/backgrounds residing side by side. There is racism in most developed countries, most developing countries, and even in undeveloped countries.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

if this survey is meant to be about prevalence or depth of racism or intolerance, most of the map should be either red or dark red. that is being honest with oneself.

don't get offended so easily. the fact that this survey is a joke is not a personal insult to you or an insult to Pakistan.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

I'm not offended. Rather showing you the reflection of what you're putting out every time someone mentions anything about India. Relax.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

i don't know what this means. it's unclear to me why you are bothered by my comments on this survey.

i saw a fake headline based on an incorrect reading of a farcical survey and i commented on it. if you disagree with my comment you can rebut it. otherwise no need to reply.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

The onus is on you to prove the survey wrong, factually. I don't care for what your opinion on the matter is, and thus there's nothing for me to "rebut".

I've already spoken my piece and said the survey omits context. While replying, try and stay on-topic. :)

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

Is Bangladesh less homogenous then Pakistan?!?!

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

I'm not from there. So, I don't know.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

True. I guess it also depends on how the question was put to the respondents. If, for example, if Indian respondents understood ‘race’ as ‘caste’, the results would not reflect same phenomenon as, for example, in Australia.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

And what do Swedish think of their own government? Oh wait, they're not allowed to talk about their totalitarian system.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

So do we start a boycott on India the most racist country on the planet the UN should act now!!! :smooth:

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

one of those studies where reality and conclusion are poles apart. countries ranked highest like hongkong, india, bangladesh, jordan are by and large made up of a single race, and asking questions like “would you live next to a black neighbour” mean nothing - there are no black people here pal. yet that is the methodology used. :hehe:

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

^ So now all Indians are single race?
There are no black people in Pakistan either.

Re: India most racist country in world suggests world report.

what races are indians?

and as for pakistanis, "would you like to live next to a black.. wait, hindu family? no sir we need a separate country."

the outlier in racism, just happens to be born out of racism.
