India is emerging as the world centre of hunger and malnutrition, a report by Indian campaign group, the Navdanya Trust, says.
The prominent environmentalist Vandana Shiva, who runs the trust, said there were now more
hungry people in India than in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ms Shiva said that 57 million children in India are underweight due to malnutrition.

The Navdanya Trust says that per capita food consumption in India has decreased from 186 kg per person annually in 1991 to 152 kg in 2001, despite government food subsidies costing billions of dollars.
The report is largely based on data collected from government surveys as well as the trust 's own material from areas where malnutrition is an issue.

It is true, it is also true that we are acknowledging it every day and working towards even development, it is also true that India is the 10th largest economy in the world and at this rate we will be fifth largest economy in 10 years time even by U.S dollar standards, it is also true that great leaders like Abdul Kalam have come from poor families and have helped in nourishing India so much so that today India's knowledge development is next only to the top six countries.
because of the huge population what ever development we make will never be enough, i only wish Pakistan could step in and we could compete in development, Pakistan even if its starts now it can develop quickly because of homogeneous nature of her at least in religion.
Recent report states that Pakistan is one of the tenth failed state in the world-Pakistanis dont need to worry abot India's poverty but should focus to elimenate terriorism from its soil which is effecting the entire world-it should focus more on improving is image-its a wake up call for them

My parents left Pakistan long time back and I only come here to visit relatives. Last time I was in Pakistan was in 2003.
But anyways, to get back to the point, people in Pakistan are suffering just as worst as India.

Difference is India doesn;t roam around the world with begging bowls like Pakistan.. and bigger difference is that india isgheading in right direction..

Indian economy is still the second fastest economy in the world and the part of exclusive "BRIC" nation compare it with pakistan which is a 10th failed in the world.See the image of pakistan in world media u all know it very well.
