** 20 Reasons why India should have won.
IT’S A MOMENT TO THUMP THE CHEST…
**
1. Because no one expected India to even draw a Test Match in Australia, forget winning it.
Because our track record against Australia overseas has been abysmal.
Because we are happy to be called underdogs.
Because most critics wrote India off even before we departed for kangaroo land.
Because whatever happens in terms of match outcome in Adelaide, I believe India has already won.
Because Brian Lara smashed a record-breaking 28 runs in one over inspired by the awesome partnership of VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid.
Because at 400 for 5 at the end of day one not a soul would have imagined the match scenario on day four end.
Because Dravid once again demonstrated his remarkable capacity for enduring batsmanship.
Because we are like that only.
Because Laxman once again rose from the debris like an Amazon.
Because the Aussies are not going to lose; we will have to win.
Because at 85 for four all one could see ahead was another predictable hammering for India.
Because despite being assaulted in the early stages, Ajit Agarkar bowled his heart out like a lion.
Because Sachin Tendulkar broke the backbone of the middle order batting just when Damien Martyn and Steve Waugh looked like recouping the damage.
Because India can be the ultimate nemesis for Waugh.
Because the Indians fought hard in an alien land against all odds.
Because Sourav Ganguly once again proved that there is a leader in him who can face things chins up.
Because Anil Kumble makes you believe that old is gold.
Because the Indian cricketers have displayed awesome character which makes us all Indians feel proud.
**Because if India does not deserve to win the Test match, who does?**

I don't think we should discuss how good or bad a player's name or face is in first place, but if you still like to then wouldn't it be better to discuss it in "culture section"?

I have no problems with Agarkar/Kumble if they perform consistently... but they should not be retained in the side based on one-off performances.... this has been a feature of Agarkar's career so far... he has been playing for 6-7 years but has not been able to establish a guaranteed place in the side...in 17 tests before this one, he only managed 39 wickets....everytime we think we are seeing the last of him... he comes of with a good performance.... If Agarkar goes back to his old self in the remainder of the series... I would rather have Sanjay Bangar in the Indian side to Pak.
Plus, I subscribe to the following school of thought :
Choose the best players you got... without considering if a given player is 10 saal kaa bachchaa OR he is a 50 saal kaa buddhaa... if we always select players with an eye on the future... we will never win in the present. (e.g. Robin Singh/Azharuddin at 37 were the best fielders in the Indian side at one time).
Therefore I would select Nayan Mongia (he is the best we got) in place of Patel/Deep Das Gupta plus he is a decent bat.

Even as Sourav Ganguly’s men were scripting the greatest Test comeback at Adelaide, Indian supporters in Australia were ducking a barrage of verbal beamers from the locals.
They were called racist names and many said that they “felt in danger”.
Even Mahatma Gandhi was not spared. On Sunday, the officials organised a competition to find the “spectator of the day”, the finalists included six white men who had painted their skin brown and worn nappies and turbans to resemble Mahatma Gandhi.
An Indian executive, who has works in Melbourne, said for the first time in his 15 years in Australia, he feared for his safety as he left Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
Some Australians even dragged Saddam Hussein into cricket. The Herald quoted an Indian fan as saying: “People were calling us Muslims and singing out about Saddam Hussein.”
