Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

they're in character. we are watching a drama. not their after-shaadi videos.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

that scene is hundred percent authentic vulgar scene....

this scene is worse than romantic scenes in indian dramas

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

We can't just say they are couples.

They are Muslim first and foremost. And, I'm sure you know couples do a lot of "things" behind close doors, so are we gonna portray all of that, too, in the name of "they are couples"?

Being a couple in a drama, film doesn't mean haram becomes halal for you.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

What the heck? Does Islam have a rule against PDA? No. Plus, ours films, especially the Punjabi ones, are soft porn anyway. :halo:

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

Where does it say it’s OK?

Edit:

Just came across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDosXHd8qeg&feature=player_embedded#!

Anyone know if it’s true?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

Exactly - The reason I liked Humsafar so much was the neatness with which they showed the love between the couple without any on-screen mushiness! We all always wanted more to be shown about Asher-Khirad since it was all kept so decent.

I am even amazed at the topic More Piya is touching, there is no lesson shown via it just a very weird twisted story to show to the audience.I left the show after the third episode as well when I came to know what it was about.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

^ The lesson is to show whether a marriage based on so much love initially can withstand so much turmoil.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

DESPITE all the touching and all in mora piya its a really good story! i think u shud give it a chance! =)

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

I miss the old school PTV dramas which I never really quite grasped during my juvenile years, but going back to them now makes you wonder whatever happened to sanity of these Pakistani Media moguls. But to condemn them alone would be a little rich on our parts because we can't forget how hypocritical we are in our nature. It would have been niggly times still had we stuck to our ground and not given in to the pressure of keeping up with the abiding trend of being more profligate in our depiction of the social mores that seemed to have seized our imagintion of a typical, supposedly modern nation; we would have then been branded as a backward current to a sweeping tide of modernity that was being espoused by all people alike.
We are infact mere victims of inevitable societal changes which seems to favour individualistic attitudes and trends in lieu of holistic, collectivist cultures. And sadly media becomes a medium for propagation of these widely adopted themes.
But there's still hope for all of us craving family time: a round table discussion and analysis of a few lines of Quran and it's implications when applied to daily life routines, a quick round of a board game etc. You just got to think outside- or something other than - 'the box' :)

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

In one scene in Kaafir, they show Humayun Saeed making cocaine lines and then snorting it. In another drama, quite a few lately, they show both female and males drunk.

Does this offend anybody?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

I think they should have rating system on dramas and let them do whatever they want. Its free media - isn't it?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

I seriously don't get why people get offended at such stuff. There is a thing called a remote control, use it to flip the channel and be done with it! OR if you want to take the really safe approach, just watch PTV dramas!
Masla khatam paisa hazum!

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

so stop watching them...why are you telling others about it?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

it does. i dislike and totally disagree the way they show ppl drinking in so many dramas as if its a part of our culture.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

coz this is a social issue. may b u and some others r ok with it but majority is not and unless we voice it, it will continue. ppl like u don't call bad, bad anymore but encourage it and discourage the ones who are against it. i advice u same thing if u and doree enjoy steamy scenes so much y don't u stop watching pak dramas and turn to some other channel that can satisfy ur inner needs to watch bedroom scenes.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

social issue? how?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

But are they showing it is apart of our culture? Or are they trying to educate people on the effects of it and how it can destroy a persons life and family? Social media can be a powerful tool if it is used wisely. People in Pakistan do drink and they do drugs. It happens everywhere. The only difference is that people in Pakistan don't talk about it (or want to acknowledge it). They could do talk shows, but what are the chances of people watching a talk show versus a drama?

With my own eyes, I have seen parents act like they have no clue where their beta goes, when he is standing outside of the house smoking .... and he does this for several years. Nobody will acknowledge it, or wants to acknowledge it, cause that will bring it out into the open where they will be forced to talk about it.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

The only problem I see in this thread is that as a society we are not willing to admit that our country is not as pious as we would like to think it is. Most of the blame obviously goes to the fact that we only had one state run tv channel for decades with censored and controlled programming.

Our country is riddled with problems. It has people that do drugs, drink, go clubbing, date, have premarital and extramarital affairs. Pretty much just like any other society. It's just that the media is holding up a mirror to us now and we don't want to see it.
