Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

well i don't know if u hav kids but no u can't control them if there is sexual content everywhere. if we turn to pak tv channels its because we r fed up with enuf sexuality, dating n male female relation in other channels may it b western, arab or indian. but even if pak tv is only showing dramas for adults where r kids gonna go? they can't watch cartoons their whole life. with age they do come towards the shows their parents r watching.
u can't watch secretly all the time as if u r doing gunnah. also its not only abt kids wat abt ur siblings and buzurg in the family. like no show is family show anymore. wats the point if u feel embarrased infront of ur father, brother, bil or fil watching any tv show or every one pretends as if nothing happened. this is how vulgarity spreads and sharam-o-haya slowly extinct in a society. we hav to take things seriously and only viewers can stop this non-sense or there will b no end. see how bollywood is going towards nudity coz there's no end to this stuff. and then we cry our young generation is getting wild, horny n out of control.
now that scene can be done in various ways. shamoon can tell his sister what he has decided or he could have told his wife without getting all over her.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

I think none of our pakistani dramas are actually made for young viewers and I don't understand why parents make their kids watch these shows to begin with. How about spending some quality time with the children by reading books, playing badminton or watching educational shows, instead of making them watch dramas on the pretense of "family time", when it's clearly to satisfy your own addiction of dramas. some ppl just want short cuts in everything!

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

^so doree u mean to say ur kids never watch any drama or show u r watching? u always watch tv in privacy and never in open. u just engage in different activities but ur kids never watch anything but news, documentary and discovery channels? u never turn on tv when family, friends or relatives with kids are around?
i think only ppl with growing kids can understand this issue but if they r just infants/toddlers or not even born u might not understand that real houses r not so ideal where parents only watch certain shows with kids or watch tv when they r asleep.
Again in realistic life most kids r familiar with shows their moms or dads watch. they might not watch whole show but still watch glimpses of it. havn't u seen the 5 yrs old comments on humsafer on u-tube or the 12 yrs old'd drawing of "main abdul qadir hoon" on fb.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

^ It's not exactly difficult you know. I am currently watching 5 dramas which I think is more than enough since that I don't want to spend every free moment glued to the tv.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

^ but the point is not that how many shows or how much tv an average parent watch or wat activities they do with their kids besides tv, the point is this unnecessary boldness should not be encouraged or taken lightly. it should be addressed. viewers should take some responsibility and let directors/actors know that not everyone approve this. i can clearly let my kids watch the simpsons or family guy why i need pak tv to teach them all abt adult stuff? we do want our kids to learn and connect with urdu and pak culture. just coz some actors love bold scenes doesn't mean we divert our kids to western family shows or adopt no tv policy.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

ok whats with all the hate towards the shamoon guy??

he is horny, pervert, twisted etc etc................ why is the woman 'not horny', perverted or twisted for doing the exactly same thing????????????????????????????

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

My whole point is that while it's the media's responsibility to keep their content family friendly, ultimately it's the parents responsibility to monitor and safeguard their children's well being. I shouldn't need to tell other parents how to cultivate pakistani culture/ langue in kids while keeping it PG. That's something for each parent to decide and also be prepared for the "side effects".

In fact Tv is probably the last thing I am worried about as it's a fairly controlled medium. What scares me is the uncontrolled medium provided by the internet which parents don't even bother monitoring even though there are hundreds of cheap and even free programs that provide parental controls (amongst other safety mechanisms). So anyways, my point is that ultimately parents are most responsible for their kids and shouldn't play blame games when their kids get exposed to inappropriate content and rather should try to minimize the probability of it happening

Listen there are others who feel the same u do. If there is a petition I will sign it. I can see bold scenes on us cable. There even more bold and frank scenes on there. I watch Pakistani for our culture which ppl who live abroad crave. Yes there are different strokes for different folks . Mabrook there are ppl on this forum who agree with you. If there is a petition I am in with you.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

So Doree basically u r ok with it and u allow pak tv to show as much vulgarity they wish. u will still be able to monitor and teach ur kids right things with all this going on. sounds fair.
@Twinklestar thanks. i don't hav a idea yet how to start a petition. If u know plz guide me on this.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

One petition is not going to do anything in my opinion. The pakistani media is not regulated at all, so you can't be sure what your kids will be exposed to at any time of the day. To be honest I would not be comfortable watching any pakistani dramas with my kids. Even dramas like Maat, Humsafar or Jal pari have content which I would find unsuitable for kids. At least in the west the suitability of a program is easier to judge. You know if it is PG certified or on air before say 7pm that it will generally be OK to watch with your kids. Anyway why would it be just the vulgarity that we need to avoid? The depiction of women in the dramas these days, i.e educated is shown as shrewd and selfish (Sara and Fareeda in Humsafar). Simple and honest women are shown as weak (Khirad), should also be a concern to us. what kind of culture would our children learn from that? I certainly would not want my young daughter to see that at a vulnerable age either. You don't really need to watch these dramas to introduce your kids to your culture in my opinion.

But I do agree that something needs to be done to overhaul the pakistani media standards.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

where is arjay uncle hiding?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

First Humaima and now Mehvish, someone please tell me what's up with this shamoon guy and how he does it?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

ewwwww!!!

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

but you cant say ashar and khirad are decent:confused:. they are just fictional characters from novel, mahira and fawad are merely acting according to script

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

i think if they want to show such scences then ,there should be the Ratings for the Drama too. PG13,R etc. i think this clip was the demand of the drama, isnt the story that the guy is too much attached to his sister and not giving all the wife hakook’s and the wife played the same game with her hubby:hmmm:if you compare now a days dramaz they are nothing like old drama’s like ankahi, dhoop kinarai.Romance was not shown that openly at that time, but now if u see humsafar too.aur Maat the couple s were very much into eachother.
end story is that i dont watch dramaz wid my kids ,nor with my family ,weird thing is that not a single person is interested in watch a drama:eek:

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

I'm not Twinklestar :p , but FB is very powerful and the producers/actors have their own FB Pages on there. I think you should come up with a well thought out page and highlight all of your concerns and issues. Ask people to join in support of what you are saying here. Keep updating your page regularly with your own thoughts/suggestions.

Consider contacting the page owners of A & B Productions, Pakistani Media pages and start communicating with them directly. I am sure there are several people who agree with you. Who knows, maybe they will acknowledge your concern but maintain your own site and spread the word until they notice ....

They are starting Urdu sesame street, which is a very good medium for teaching children the language and the culture.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

i swear this guy is such a pig!

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

I think people who direct such scenes or broadcast them, should be considered enemies of pakistan. There is absolutely no need for it. Children will be influenced from watching such scenes and think its ok. Then their children will watch worser things and think its ok. Society will gradually become more and more corrupt.

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

Uh, they were a couple during the filming of this scene. Who cares?

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas

^ lol true but still maybe a lot of people dont know that
