As long as you don’t call a spade a spade, it’ll be all fine =)

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
I disagree Mehwish Hayat can act. Perhaps they the perks of acting is being able to do bold and vulgar scene with different actors and actresses
I agree. She is a good actress. We should be criticizing the director. However, if you watch the scene, the little sister is outside banging on the door. Frankly, both adults came across as selfish and evil and I felt bad for the little girl. Maybe that is what the director was trying to portray? Not only romance ...
That being said, there is a fine line between portraying a powerful drama with bold scenes (i.e. the rape scene in Kaafir, Roag) and showing scenes that add no value to the storyline and characters. This is where these directors need to tread carefully.
I think they should implement a rating system.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
that was cheap and very disappointing.

Sanam Baloch pulls off the innocent roles so well, I need to see the scene you're referring to.
Just watch Chemistry, It is available on internet.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
Definitely unnecessary. put a rating on it or just show it to the point where he holds her hand. We know what is supposed to happen next. No need to SHOW it to the audience phleese.
I do agree Shamoon really loves doing these scenes.

why not blame the actors? they can clearly so NO and they chose not to so the director is like okay fine, not like theyre saying NO!
and shamoon is so freaking h0rney all the time....how disgusting..
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
Shamoon's face and his expressions always make me wanna puke...!
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
actor in that cliping was looking like illegal immgrant to uk.....
i dotn see any need of such proximity in that scene....

Yes i absolutely blame the actors too. But honestly perhaps somenof them are enjoying this cuddling and affection and simply saying that it is acting. As far as i know neither shamoon or mehwish are married. Who can blame them for getting a little action on the side? That way they dont have to get married and they are getting paid to do this? Mehwish might even charge more for this type of work? Perhaps samaa tv and myra or maha khan need to look into this matter! No wonder pakistan has horny out of control unmarried guys and gals that resort to wearing burqas and carrying these activities in public parks! If the young generation is constantly watching this type of tv' and god only knows what they are exposed to on the internet.!
The topic of yesterday show was good! We often do find these type of clingy relatives whether theynbe a MIL, SIL, FIL, cousin, phupoo who are not happy with their relativr getting married. Sometimes the relative needs to knoe boundaries. However, the viewers dont need to be exposed to the gory details. Trust me pakistanis know what to do inside bedroom. The population shoukd be indictative of that. However there is that desire to compete with india and show that pakistani are BOLD TOO. That is not our culture and our religion forbids such openness.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
^ so what if there not married, why get action on public screen where million others are watching as well..they have no shame left in them at all? its because of these actors that these type of scenes take place..if they clearly say no then they'll nevre happen and our tv will still be a family tv to watch! and seriously if they want action so bad get the eff married. simple! =)
they might not be so educated in islam, but im pretty sure they know the basics, that this stuff is haram!.. doesn't take a rocket scientist to guess that one.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
^ one other point is Why Humsafar is enjoyed is that we been spared of such details. The viewer can tell that Asher and Khirad love or lovedneach other! But these scenes were done tastefully! As another gs member pointed i absolutely loved the scene were Asher says to Khirad aaj apko koi nahi sona deyga! Beautifully done wthout physical contact between actors!

That is what you call romance! Humsafar was sooooo amazing in showing such tasteful romance that everyone fell in love with, and not once did ashar or khirad feel up on each other excepting for barely holding hands in a scene or 2...i can watch these scenes over and over and not get tired of em! =)
i think it was because of that amazing clean romance that everyone fell in love with this drama. cant blame em ! =)

Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
I seriously hate Shamoon since he was half his size. I don't know he always had a very cheap and vulgar look to him and as years passed by he proved in his conduct that he is cheap.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
I understand where you are coming from but you cannot control what is on tv. What you can control is what your kids can and cannot view.
Even in America, on network television you will have people making out but not too much nudity. But you switch over to HBO or Showtime and people are prancing around butt-naked.
Also, when you are watching a series and start liking it, the main reason is because you like the storyline and the actors are doing a good enough job on screen to make you believe whatever is happening. The couple on screen are playing husband and wife. So, husband and wife do touch each other I believe, and that is whats happening in this scene. Now if you already know that almost all of Shamoon's shows include some sort of "vulgar" scene, then why watch it?
I agree that subtelty on screen, especially in Pakistani dramas works because we are a conservative society and we'd rather not discuss or see what happens in the bedroom. Our media is only been truly free for the last ten years and they have experimented a lot with this freedom. If we let this experimentation continue, I think soon the media and the audience will find the right balance.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
I don't like shamoon, but the way I see it these scenes are happening because the directors and producers want the story told a certain way. In that storyline, he put his own innocent little sister into a hostel cause his own 'needs'. This is a one hour series and each week they have a different story. I remember people on this site had a similar issue with Love Story which also showed a different story each week.
Even if these actors said NO I am sure some other actor would come along and do the part instead.

Yes that is absolutely true that he couple in the show is married . And
As per that marriage license they will probably do the stuff that is shown. However there are clever ways that directors show these seen. Before they get too steamy the lights are turned off. there are plenty of places where these scenes could have been inserted in Humsafar but they elwere not. Even without we loved the romance. Folks do we prance around naked in front of spouses? A little sharm and haya go a long way. Too much of anything and it loses it charm. I think men here have gotten sick of seeing half naked women everywhere. U use those women whose dressing leaves very little to the imagination. Are these women really attractive? I Absolutely detest PUblic display of affection ( PDA). these things should remain in the privacy of the bedroom. Couples don't really need I shove it down everyone's throat. another reason that Asher has come around is because Khirad doesn't fall over all over Asher. She maintains her distance and behaves with decency.
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
^ So that means that there is a wide variety of programming out there for everyone's taste. Therefore, there is no point in creating such a hoo-ha over some dramas with some scenes? Know what I am saying?
p.s. Asher and Khirad are fictional characters just like the ones in the drama in question. I am sure you love them but they are not real ;) Therefore, neither Humsafar nor this drama is a standard of decency for anybody :p
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
Ok can someone please give an example of how they could have gotten the point across in this one hour episode without the scene with the littLe sister outside the bedroom? Can we actually look at the story? It doesn't make sense to compare this to humsafar.
Wife comes into the house thankful she has no inlaws other than the little girl. She doesn't like how the girl treats her and her husband doesn't take her complaints seriously. So she plans on getting riD of her by putting the husband in a situation where he wants to send his own little sister away .
I am just trying to think of another way they could have shown the depth of manipulation in an hour storyline ...
Re: Increasing vulgarity in pak dramas
^Mehnaz - I actually did not watch the drama so cannot comment on what you asked but from what I judged from the scene that I watched, I am pretty sure the storyline required this "vulgarity".
But at the end of the day, people should just screen what they are watching. I don't think kids should be watching dramas anyway no matter vulgar or not. I think they mess with kids sense of society because a lot of what is shown in dramas as normal, is most of the time an exaggeration.
