Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

LI, how many times have you spoken against injustice, racism, abuse by the police officers, in real life, for example in your city, where you work, in school anywhere. What have you done? Gimme any single example. Saying "shame on you" "bloody murder" on a internet forum for brown people doesnt count. :D

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

It's interesting that you ask me for examples turning this into a game of internet one-upmanship. Now lets say that I do take your bait, next, you'll ask for further proofs, citations, links etc.

What I find interesting is your defensiveness in this matter. Are you a UC student? I didn't call you a pusilanimous student. :D

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

The point im making (which im sure you have understood by now) is that its easier to vent out your frustrations and "speak out" against such types of injustices in an anonymous fashion like on this board than to actually do something about it in reality.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

^ Are you a UC student?

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

maybe, but thats irrelevant

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

^ No, it's not chanda.

Bottom line is that you are part of a school that brutalized a student and you are sitting on your behind being a wise alec on the internet. What you choose NOT to do in life is your business but I am not calling you a pusilanimous student or a fan of Barbara Streisand, it's just not my style. :D

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

How would you know what i choose and not to choose to do in life. And that Babra Sharif is an awful singer, all she has going for her is that long nose of hers :D

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

5abi went back to school after 15 years? :hehe:

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

Don't know about that But I am a USC student currently and it goes without saying that all USC students stick together. That's why in all LA we call USC a city within a city all USC students and alumni, the gang. It is sad what happened to that student. I know him personally btw. He is a friend of another Iranian friend of mine. We will see what happens now.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

were multiple stuns really necessary, that is the question. he could have been putting an oscar worthy performance for all anyone cares, but did the cops cross limites. Looking at the piss poor history of the chief idiot cop at the location, it seems that any pathetic power abuser can be a cop for as long as he wants to be. Does UC system not have the balls to get rid of the guy after a history of offenses?

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

I am talking about after this happened… not getting into fisticuffs with the cops right then and there. It appears that student body at large is realy not doing a whole lot about it…instead of a collective cry for justice, UCLA student body seems to have taken a collective yawn. I could be mistaken, but that is how it seems. This is coming from first hand impressions shared by current UCLA students.

The friday protest and march was attended by hundreds of students, according to LA times
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-taser18nov18-pg,0,580648.photogallery?coll=la-home-headlines&index=2

how many students go to UCLA? 24,811 undergrads and 10,814 grads, plus 3,326 faculty members. yet hundreds showed up at the rally. I have been to UCLA campus. many times more ppl are hanging out on campus at any given time. does this look like a campus collectively in an uproar? not by any stretch.

actually I did take summer classes at Berkeley in my sophmore year, and I also took classes at UC santa cruz the same year. I have spent much time in LA, on campuses including USC, UCLA, Pepperdine and CSUN, and my impression was that UCLA student body just did not seem as involved as that of USC.

I dont have to be a student at any of those intitutions to have knowledge, impressions of perspective. btw Berkely has always been known as a student activist campus, not just locally but nationally.

I suppose in future anytime you share any view about anything, I would ask you to qualify it by saying whether you have firsthand experience of it.

Yes that much is true. We call it the Hippy Campus of the United States. :D.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

I dunno what they ought to be doing besides what the minority student groups have already done on Friday. The underground student council just passed a resolution asking the chancellor and UCPD to put the officers in question on administrative leave until the investigation is over with. Most students (minority and others) interviewed did agree that what was done to the student was inappropriate (to say the least)

The 200 or so that did protest had demanded an independent investigation during their protest. The chancellor did call for an independent investigation right after the Friday protest. We can speculate if the protest played any part in chancellors decision or if he was going to order an independent investigation regardless.

But you are right the school didnt erupt in mass protest or anything like that. Maybe most other students didnt give a fook, thinking it only happens to brownies? Maybe the guy deserved it and the police did what they had to do. As long as it doesnt affect us we dont care? An inherent racism towards middle eastern looking iranian/arab/paki etc? I dunno.

UCLA is the only campus in the UC system that allows their offers to wear and use the tasers. I hope the unverisity gets successfully sued or the UCPD gets sued by Mostafa’s and a change is brought in the school’s policy.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

This is sickening.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

I will toast to that. And this is why USC will defeat UCLA in the football game next friday and USC is better. What can I say, I am a Trojan.

No To Tansers on School Campuses.
Fight On.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

ribbed?

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

No need to get upset. I told you I didn't call you a pusilanimous person or a Streisand fan; others might but I didn't. :D

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

LI, now you are out of arguement and being just lame. No need to repeat. Get over it.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

^ Aur nazreen 5abi ro paray. :hehe:

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)
