Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalaum Alaikum,

“ Muslim, Iranian-American, Mostafa Tabatabainejad, UCLA student was tasered several times by UCLA’S UCPD November 14th 2006, because he could not show his Student ID. He was shot 5 times with a taser gun. Police threatened to shoot students who got too close. The Student yelled out that he had a medical condition, but the cops kept shooting. UCPD officers shot a student several times with a Taser inside the Powell Library CLICC computer lab late Tuesday night before taking him into custody.”

“It was the most disgusting and vile act I had ever seen in my life,” said David Remesnitsky, a 2006 UCLA alumnus who witnessed the incident.

As a Muslim-American, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of proper news coverage regarding the blatant abuse and harassment of UCLA student, Mostafa Tabatabainejad. As a major news network, it is your duty to report such news-worthy coverage to the American public.

Re: The Patriot Act now being enforced against US citizens.

oh come on...i thought everybody knew about the Patriot Act being abused

Re: The Patriot Act now being enforced against US citizens.

that is the problem, we need to protect out selves as civlians and citizens.
so we need to find solutions to FAIL the patact.

Re: The Patriot Act now being enforced against US citizens.

That whiny little girl yelling out "Patriot Act, Patriot Act" deserved every bit of that taser. He had no ID; know the freakin' rules before you try to sneak into a building to hang out with your buddies.

Re: The Patriot Act now being enforced against US citizens.

lol protect ourselves?? are you serious? the government has the authority to do just about anything..especially now..so the way i see it..you cant really protect yourself..just go with the flow

As an American, I am extremely disapointed that some are saying this incident somehow demonstrates anti-Muslim behavior by the police. Did the dude have a "Kiss me, I'm Muslim" t-shirt on? How exactly did the police know he was Muslim?

I think the bigger complaint should be that a UCLA student somehow thinks the Patriot Act was involved in the reaction to his illegal behavior. Next time, bring your damn i.d., sit down, shut up, and read up on what is and what isn't involved in any lost rights due the Patriot Act.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

I am somewhat disturbed by the repeated taserings. On the other hand the cops must have shouted 50 times for him to stand up, so he could be handcuffed and removed. Resisting arrest is a no-no in every culture in the world. This kid wanted a confrontation, that was his plan if confronted about an ID. Tasers hurt, but have no lasting effects. The police use them on each other in training classes. This looks and sounds worse than it is. There is no reason at all to bring in religion. The kid did not have an ID, end of story.

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

2 wrongs do not make a right, he should have had his id and should have been cooperative ut those repeated taser did not make sense. Pick the dude up handcuff him, read him his rights and take him away.

the dude may have thought of it as an opportunity to get famous and this brought in patriot act and what nots.

Cops were complete idiots as well. tasers may not have 'lasting' effects but they do have immediate effects, so expecting that a dude will jump to his feet right after he has been tasered is incorrect as well.

cops are going to get sued, it will take forever to get resolved. I mean the cases where a cop was caugth slamming some dude on the car, and even the rodney king incidence took ages to resolve anyways

and all will be done on taxpayers’s dollars…

Re: Incident involving UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad (Merged)

A few points for the old fogeys who may have forgot their reading glasses behind:

A summary of the Police brutality from the news article:

1) The guy was moving towards the exit, when he was approached and grabbed by the retards on a power trip.

2) It was when he yelled at them to get off, did they taser him.

3) According to the medical journal, a three to five sec charge can lead to immobilisation of five to fifteen minutes. This means Mustafa was physically unable to stand up (i.e. limp) when the retard kept yelling at him to do so. They shot him not once but five times.

4) When other students asked for the cops name and and ID numbers, they were threatened with the taser gun...This is illegal and an assualt initself.

5) they tasered him again when he was handcuffed and subdued by the previous taser shots. According to the law, taser guns can only be used if the guy seems to be a danger to the cops or others. Not by far, according to the video and the students present.

6) he even yelled 'i am not fighting you', and 'I said i would leave' before they tasered him again and again. It is against the law to taser someone who is willing to oblige at any point.

7) The UCPD's account is dismissed as false by the witnesses and the video recordings by students. it smells more of a cover up story which had the videos not be stating otherwise, would most likely been accepted as the 'official' version.

This is definately a blatant case of abuse and misuse of a gun that has killed hundreds before, and unfortunately it's in the hands of some thick sh1ts who dont seem to know the first thing about it nor about the laws that surround it.
