Not surprising. He has same stands on most issues as Taliban. If it was up to him Swat would be Taliban kingdom today.

organisers of this conclave are idiot , rushdie is going to cost very high on indian publick ,may be with loss of property and lives .

imran khan is certainly not a messiah , he is a wordly leader in search of power who wants to live to see the day when he becomes p.m. .it takes a lot of courage and bravery to say what is truth , speaking against taliban is equal to inviting criminals ,terrorists to come and kill . he is neither GHANDHI JI , NOR MARTIN LUTHRE KING or LIAQAT ALI KHAN who will speak truth even if their lives are at severest risk .
imran would have got more appreciation if he had attended the conclave and spoken against rushdie in the same conclave

Not sure what you are implying with this post, but if you feel that Salman Rushdie is the face of enlightenment, then more power to you.

Yes, Imran Khan shares a common stand on many issues with Taliban, but it would be fair to clarify that suicide bombing is not one of them.

Ignoring Salman Rushdie was the right thing to do, as this is something that is just not worth it.

Rushdie may not be face of enlightenment, but I totally support his right to free speech. As for IK, its a political stunt. He may have won few brownie points with jihadi crowd at home, but it also shows how far IK has gone from progressive to totally jihadi in his quest for power.

your Freedom of speech ends where my nose starts .....

On one hand - despite being a Muslim ( perceived from your name ) you are okay with some one's freedom of speech even if he disgraces the personality , every Muslim loves more then his/her parents .

but you aren't allowing the same freedom for Imran khan - accusing him for Taliban mentality for not participating in that event with Rushdie

Quite ironic , isn't it ?

Well if disliking some one for the sake of Muhammad PBUH 's pride and honor is a Taliban thingy ..

Freedom of speech does not mean to insult a personality that billions revere. Since Rushdie is entitled to his freedom isn't imran entitled to the same with regards to going to this meeting or his views regarding taleban?

Majority of common muslims believe in western values only if they are in harmony with islam…

if someone choose to attack respected personality of Hazrat Muhammad :saw2:…i am not going to accept it under premise of freedom of speech…
