Re: If this is true then Veena Malik should be banned in Pakistan.
As with Islam, lets not pick and choose. Islam clearly tells you to conceal others wrong doings, do not publicise them in public. An act of zina committed behind the four walls is none of your business, Islam gives you no right to publicly b**** about it, unless you happen to be a witness whose testimony is needed for a legitimate cause. The matter is strictly between the person and Allah, and the people directly affected by it. That goes for anyone who is sickeningly obsessed with Veena or Imran's private (read bedroom) life.
Re: If this is true then Veena Malik should be banned in Pakistan.
Let me be clear - I'm NOT defending Veena. My stance is that she can do with herself whatever she wants without being put into jail/hung/stoned/exiled etc.
No one has the right, Pakistani or not, to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't be doing in life just because they may share the same culture or religion. Sheesh.
Re: If this is true then Veena Malik should be banned in Pakistan.
There are hundreds of high profile people all around the world who are banned or in exile for abusing the political and cultural sensitivities of a country, Veena won't be the first nor the last to pay the price for her offensive behaviour. Let Pakistan do with her whatever they wish is the best thing to do.
There is no such thing as absolute freedom and no responsibility of any sort, we live in a real world and there are consequences of your every action. One must keep its bloody life to itself if it doesn't wish to see it become the matter of great public interest.

Most sane ppl would say doing racy photos for a magazine is nowhere near as bad as getting someone pregnant then abandoning your own child (as if there's even an Islamic punishment for taking your clothes off).. Something being done behind closed doors (yet Imran going clubbing, having multiple gfs in the West was hardly private, was it?) doesn't make it any less wrong unless the issue is that this time** it's a Pakistani woman so it involves PRIDE and it can't be swept under the carpet which I'm guessing is the case here..**
Anyway I'll shut up about Imran Khan because the thread is going off tangent, I only mentioned him to highlight the hypocrisy in defending a guy who slept around, went clubbing, got someone pregnant and then tried to deny/hide it but then attacking a girl who poses nude for a men's magazine..
Re: If this is true then Veena Malik should be banned in Pakistan.
Come on guys. Enough is enough. If Indians take all the Pakistani women like Veena Malik then I think they themselves are dumbest. Do we Pakistanis take all Indian women like Rakhi Sawant or Malika Sharawat. I think we don't. So there is no need to be worried that Indians will consider all Pakistani women like Veena Malik. I think Indians know our Benazir Bhutto, Parveen Shakir, Hina Rabbani Khar, Haseen Moin, Nazia Hassan and that will not allow them to generalise Pakistani women with Veena Malik.
Agree with you - have not evenwatched this video or photo. Even if I did watch it, it would not be representative of Pakistani women in general. Not only that, I think the lady is earning a living -so I respect her.

Can't knock her hustle ....She's got people talking. Doesn't she have some reality show or something starting soon?

This post would be relevant if Veenaji is a an official representative of religion. To use your own words, "The matter is strictly between the person and her God, and the people directly affected by it". So I take it it really is none of our business.

Seriously? You are going to companre Veenaji's actions with those who have been exiled in the past? "Let Pakistan do with her whatever they wish is the best thing to do. " Looks like you have a lot of respect for personal freedom and liberty.
Re: If this is true then Veena Malik should be banned in Pakistan.
Message to those who took the trouble to see the picture after knowing what to expect, and now are criticizng Veenaji - why did you torture yourself (I am sure it was sheer torture).

Sane? Says who?
Sane or pathetically biased and naive? Seems like some people live in a bubble where they think Imran was the only muslim person in this whole wide world who went clubbing and slept around, whereas Veena was some virgin satti savitri Queen before her nude pics became public? I guess it'll show us in very Holy and make us very sane if we also start talking about Veena's bedroom life and draw comparison with Imran's? Thats what sane people do right? Yes Imran's 'private' wasn't a 'secret', yet it was his private life, he didn't do it for public. And you are no one to judge him or pose any fatwa, or say he's a bigger sinner than Veena. Who are you to say that? As with hypocrisy, I see how you're having fun passing fatwas on a man's private life, yet you'd be the first person to get your jockies in a twist if a woman's bedroom deeds are being discussed and judged by random people. I'm sure you'd be quoting internet Islam from left, right and center to show how its a person 'private' life and none of an average man's business. So its you who need to fix your double standards and relax up your gender bias.
Veena went public with her naked body (its a part of her **professional* life*) and decided make a proper mockery out of a significant national institution (ISI), yes thats were Pakistani 'pride' is hurt. Don't bring the usual women are eternal victims, evil desi, saas bahu mentality, at lest try to understand the political sensitivity even if its too complicated for you. Sahir Lodhi posing nude and showing a middle finger to the ISI would've caused the same amount of uproar. Yes the public has something against third class entertainment clowns pushing the boundaries to get famous, its like that everywhere.

When the privilege of 'Personal freedom and liberty' is used to cause offense to millions, no then I have no respect for it. Its a hardly a personal matter when its secically designed to get the public involved.

No I don't see her as a representative of Islam, my post was only for some part time internet mullhas who were using Islam to bash Imran's well into the past and strictly private life, yet bickering the mantra of personal life/private life to defend Veena's actions. Why use Islam for thing but not for another?
Re: If this is true then Veena Malik should be banned in Pakistan.
Exactly.
Actually i am astonished at those regular life 1 posters comments in this thread. Just wondering what kind of advices they must be giving to ppl in life 1 on serious life issues when they cannot understand such a simple thing :halo:
To all those who are kind of supporting Veena act, tell me something, sorry for the example but since you ppl cannot understand things on MACRO level, lets take a MICRO level example. Consider for a min, that it is not Veena (actress) but it is your sister who has done this shot for a local mag. What will you do? Do you consider her as a part of family? Do you think she has your father’s and family name attached with her name, so what she does directly affects him and his reputation and as a whole your family reputation? Will you tell her to carry on, all is well, it is your life, do what you want to do? Or will you say, Veena and Imran did so and so, hence you have a valid reason to do too? Or will you say, if MALES in the society are allowed to do everything, then you are a LIBERAL woman of today , who has got equal rights. So great job!!!. " You think your parents may dis-own her?
I am only interested to see if you guys are only concerned about your own reputation, izzat and name. that starts from your home and ends in your home. But when it comes to your country izzat and reputation, then you are least concerned. If this is true then you are not patriotic ppl. And if you are not, then all of your comments you made in this thread are useless. Because we are talking about bigger things here.

Likewise NO one here has the right to do that to Veena. Also, in the west not claiming a child is a far worse thing than posing mostly naked on the cover of a magazine. Maybe I'm desensitized to the latter so it's not really a big deal to me - I see it every day with some celebrity or another. I come from a world where women are free to do what they want, when they want and I believe that so long as you're staying within the law knock yourself out. If she wants to degrade herself that's on her, not on me. Why should I care? It's HER choice and she doesn't represent me.
The Imran vs Veena is like comparing apples and oranges. Political figures are held to a much higher regard than actresses so anything he may have done will be magnified and seem a lot worse than Veena because he's supposed to be a respected man. It's like comparing Barack Obama to Kim Kardashian - two VERY different public figures for two VERY different reasons.
I don't think a lot of people are understanding this - you can judge her and say you're morally outraged blah blah blah BUT no one here has the right to say she SHOULD be jailed or exiled as she hasn't committed a crime. I think this is where the disconnect is in this debate. People can have opinions but no one's opinion is holier than the others.
