Like Southie ... I felt that with that combo you'll get lot's of little Shunnis running around everywhere ... with a strong desire to eat fish and rice ...
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
Its easy to find humans , but hard to find humanity , similary its easy to find Suni/Shia , but hard to find a Muslim . Its just sad .
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
I ask people what was the prophet? Was he a Shia or a Sunni? Did he call himself that?
Just be a Muslim, that's it, don't get too much into this whole sect divisional bs, it's nothing but nonsense and causes violence. Further, if you read the Quran, it clearly warns Muslims against this.
Muslims are all one Ummah and are brothers/sisters, anyone who says La Ila ha IllaL Lah, follows the Quran and believes in the 5 pillars of Islam is a Muslim.
It's actually a very simple religion, people make it complicated.
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
You are right Sir, I am talking about those Sufis who consider all Muslims to be included in one Ummah, without the segregation of sects.
Being sunni or shia doesn't mean that you don't include other muslims in one ummah, it just means that you follow a certain school of thought regarding the rituals and actions. Just out of curiosity, do you consider Ismailis and Ahmadis part of muslim ummah too?
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
A Shia and Sunni getting married?
It's like division by 0, or Mentos in diet Coke, or putting PCG and Diwana in the same room.

When I was a kid, I used to see my late Shia father write eulogies of Holy Prophet and his companions and my Sunni mother mourning the martyrs of Karbala, and I used to seriously think of making a new Islamic Sect SUNSHI after growing up.......
I think just being a Muslim is good enough.

Sir, in my humble opinion, any one who believes Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) to be the true and last messenger of Allah Almighty (without any strings attached) is included in Holy Prophet's Ummah. By the way, last means LAST in every sense of the word without the strings of **Zilli or Baruzi.
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
Marriages are like recipes, any combination of ingredients can turn out to be a good dish, and some cooks can spoil even common recipes.
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
naabigh ki baton ka bura na mano. umr ka takaza hay waise shia sunni marriages dont work.
Marriages work firstly because of Allah Almighty's blessings and secondly, due to mutual respect and magnanimity. If that was not the case, then there would never be any disputes or divorces among couples of same sect, family, ethnicity, background etc etc.

Agree with you on that one.

Ahmadis are not Muslim as Muslims we believe prophpet Mohammed is the last final messenger of GOD, this is also the view of all the learned scholars, Ahmadis are Ahamadis. I got no problem with them, but their not Muslim, their not allowed to do Hajj.
Ismailis are not Muslim either anymore than Mormans are Christian.
Muslims do not believe that there is anything special or great about the Agha Khan.
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
^My question was directed at Dr. Sufi specifically.
non-muslims are also part of the ummah, I was talking about muslim ummah btw.
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
i am sunni (or rather a muslim who follows the Quran) but have many shia friends and i feel that if a non-shia marries a shia, it will be very difficult for him or her to adapt.. because of the majlises and every thing that the shias have during muharram and safar. it is very different from the non-shias. what if the lady wants to have a majlis at her place but her husband does not regard it at all or believe in it? what do the kids follow? to mourn at such a level during muharram or not? it's really quite complicated.
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married…
My advice would be to not go in to this.
There are Shias who are still considered Muslim (those who do not curse the Sahabas (RA)) but those who do curse the Sahabas (RA) and the wife of the Prophet SAW, they aren’t Muslims.
**If the Shia does not believe in completeness of the Qur’an, chastity of Ā’isha (Radhiyallahu Anha), Imaan of the Sahaba (Radhiyallahu Anhum), etc., then he/she is out of the fold of Islam and is a disbeliever.
Nikāh between such Shias and a Muslim is not valid, regardless if the Shia is a male or a female.**
Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married…
maybe its just me, but i think its better to further check the info from the sources before passing on the fatwa as the site you posted is weird, henna tattoo haram for men? , Ayatollah Khomeini not a Muslim ?? , not permissible for a woman to cut her hair ???

Re: If a Shia and Sunni Get married...
Hair, it depends on which maddhab you follow. Hanafis are ver strict about ctting hair, though, some schoalrs (esp. the ones from Arabia) allow it.
Henna is supposed to be a form of beautification, so really, why would a man need to put henna? It's imitating women, which is not allowed. And, we're talking about henna designs.
As for Twelver Shias, they are not Muslims.
