They have been working in my family for a long time. I don't how people manage to give fatwas on a certain thing not working, just because it doesn't work in their minds.

It wont work ofcourse if both the partners are staunch believers of their respective sects. And if they are so, I believe they will already be aware of how their beliefs could collide. And if they are, and are aware of the collision of beliefs, and yet prepared to give it a chance, I think it should work for them. Balance and tolerance are the keys. People marry out of religion and race and all that anyway. It is just a sectarian difference.

This makes it easier you know, when a person is of the belief that the people belonging to other sects are kafirs, they would definitely think before they leap. Its usually the moderate and less adherent lot that considers to marry inter sect.

Sufism is not a sect or madhab, there are sufi shias and sufi sunnis, being just a sufi doesn't make sense unless you're talking about universal sufis.
You are right Sir, I am talking about those Sufis who consider all Muslims to be included in one Ummah, without the segregation of sects.

In simplest words, Sufis are just Sufis. A lot of people have tried to define or describe them according to their own school of thought. Some say that it is the purest form of Islam, while there are some who do not even consider them as Muslims. Both of these thoughts are clearly extremes of opinions. To put it in simplest ways, a Sufi is the one who considers all Muslims to be one Ummah. A true Sufi respects all Muslims because they are included in the Ummah of Holy Prophet, Hazrat Muhammad, (SAW). At the same time, he respects followers of all other faiths because they are included in the Creation of Allah Almighty.

If the couple or one of them is religious then it wont work, other wise jo karna hay kar lo.
I belong to a family where some people in our khandan are Shia , so i have some first hand experiances.
