Then you must've known about all the DIY, gardening, property, science, travel, nature, car shows too?
I don't see anyone on Pak tv coming up with shows like Deadly60 or any good documentaries.
Hainnn g?! Did anyone here say that we have those kind of shows on our channels? Where are you bringing this argument from?

that's not my concern...I was talking about the women (mostly who live in Pak) who follow shows like Nadia Khan and Shaista Wahidi or even star plus, I don't think I can live or befriend women with that mentality. And believe me, a lot of women in Pak I know are in that sort of stuff.

I know there aren't any such programmes on Pakistani channels because most people who're into nadia and Sahir wouldn't even watch that stuff.

what else u expect from them to wathc , most of them were busy in routine house chores so wont giv much preference to the channel or show , u want them tht they shd watch CNN or BBC or som documentries on discovery / realityTv ... ?
Re: I don’t want my kids growing up in Pakistan…
It used to be but not anymore and that’s one of the reason I wouldn’t move there. I don’t think I’d be interested in socializing with people who have a different sort of mentality nor I want my kids to interact with them.
Re: I don't want my kids growing up in Pakistan...
Agree .. ..
but how many of these, would step up to protest against leaders? Forget about Pakistan and others .. I ask you .. if you have to protest against Pakistani leaders in your local area (not Pakistan) .. EVERYDAY, leaving your job aside .. would you go ? no .. because WE have family resposibilities .. as you mentioned in your post that if it was asked from you to move to Paksitan .. u might have .. but since the question is about kids, then you wouldn't because you love your kids 10 times more than Pakistan. I agree .. and thats how it is .. and thats the EXACT reason why most of the people don't come out .. since they have responisbilities of earning, taking care of their famiilies and other things.
if we can learn anything from current developing of Egypt, we can see for sure that people have power, but if they chose not to use it then they are going to suffer and have dictators rule them and suck the blood out of them. Its a choice that our awaam are making and they have to pay the price of their choices.
Re: I don't want my kids growing up in Pakistan...
Isn't that true that girls who only like watching star plus and geo are bimbos?
Re: I don't want my kids growing up in Pakistan...
This thread is going no where. The truth is those of us living outside of Pakistan have a stable life here and don't plan on moving not even to Pakistan. There is no need to bash Pakistan and it's system. I think at the end of the day we don't move because we like it here and don't see any harm in raising our kids here.

everyone has personal reason for not going there or going there .. .. one should respect those reasons .. .. BUT .. the thing that pisses me off that people here are stereotyping things about pakistan .. specially those who have never been there for more than 2-3 months .. ..

If i may ask you, ARE you ok socializing with people who have different set of values? Would you be ok having your kids interact with people who think its ok to disobey their parents, do drugs and have sex even before they turn 12?
I have no intentions to drag this topic to a different direction but your post totally asked for it. Seriously! I am shocked right now.

Most Pakistanis living abroad live in nice neighborhoods where things like sex ,drugs and teen pregnancies are non existent.
Now I am behaving like one of those folks mentioned in post # 187.
Re: I don't want my kids growing up in Pakistan...
Those women who watch Sahir Lodhi Show morning shows and the star plus soaps live here too. I recently met SO many auntiez/girls on this shadi who were only talking about 'haye tum ne us ki saari dekhi thi ..or shaista wahidi ki us episode wala jora maine apni designer se order kerwa bhi liya hai' stuff like that.
Others were the ones who were so totally involved in asking their daughters to dance on "sheila ki jawani' and tell her how she copies all the steps wonderfully, Some other women infact auntiez got even more enthusiastic and themselves started dancing on 'Munni badnam hui' !
I saw a few 2-3 year old girls. They didn't know a word of Urdu but could completely and fluently sing Imran Khan's 'chakk glassi' and 'bounce billo' . Oh and I recently discovered people here celebrate 'Sangeet Night', 'Holi Night, 'hen night'. Something so far I haven't witnessed in Pakistan. :)
:)
So do I declare the entire british asians to be totally indianized or westernized ? No, because I know there are good and bad people everywhere and just because of a group of those I wouldn't label the entire community as bad

Yes, she is okay .. why .. because she lives in multi-culture environment where she is comfortable eough to ignore these things .. but .. when she is in pakistan, she is a strict muslim, people have to wear hijab to talk to her .. people have to see "high standard" shows to talk to her .. .. why because ITS PAKISTAN ..
we can ACCEPT people of different culture, different mentality and different values here because we have "freedom" .. but wen it comes to PAKISTAN .. everything has to perfect .. right? its PAKISTANI people reponsibility to make it perfetc, people living in west just want to see them being perfect and pick on em .. ..

At least here I have the option not to interact with them. :)
