Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
dont know why d pics arent getting uploaded!
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
Ah,its working finally..
So,as i was saying, the golden dupatta is d bride's sisterz..n d pink one is d bride's..the border on d dupatta, also called the Masala is called Saancha masala and made of pure gold and silver.
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
Zephyrus,u knw how red KDs with purple borders r sooooo 'in' rite nw..the combo does look great bt u need to choose d right shades..one such bride wore a red KD wd d purple nt really going with d red (atleast i thought so)..d kaam n all is really good bt d colour just spoils d whole look i think..
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
OMG MashaAllah!! the sanche ke masale wale Kd’s look so regal!!The golden would look so good on me
must be hierlooms. A part of me says that they also look a bit costumy, so they look partly royal and partly regal-yeah I’m silly:silly: lol
those pics have made me realise that maybe, maybe a kd in benaras silk is a good option!! KHADA DUPATTA literally means a standing veil, for it to stand it must be a bit stiff, for that benaras silk is the best option…I used to think chiffon dupatta looks best but my mum pointed out that they look ‘pichkewe’ lol and yes indeed they do!!
hmmmmm I’m so confused now as to the material now-silk or chiffon ![]()
AA you’re not the only one who feels that purple doesn’t go with red, I don’t get it too. red-golden & red-green is the only way to go if u r doing red. red-purple is looking different and ppl tend to think that wht looks unique looks good
its jst not jelling!
wht i like about that bride is that she has draped the dupatta well and her haath ka joda+batua match with the border. notice she wears a somewht smaller joda, not the entire family joda-i like that!
i lovvve the colour combo of the first bride, its a bit like this KD and i’ve been in love with this since forever http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/85059/des2-pic.jpg the above dupatta is made of silk :I
AA wht do say?? which fabric is better for KD?? silk or chiffon?? I’m ruling out net becoz its too sheer.
and also big borders :disgust: they make u look broader. me no like big borders. Are the absolutely neccesary for KD’s?? wht say u?
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
about bridesmaids:
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/c.jpg I’m sure she is very beautifull girl, May Allah bless her and protect her, Ameen. bfull colour of the Kd ,it makes her glow-well her hands are glowing ![]()
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/51.jpg another beige Kd!! marvelous combo-the masala is standing out so well!! Also see the importance of wearing guluband, her neck seems..empty ![]()
both these would look good on me ![]()
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/61.jpg
MashaAllah! all the girls are wearing such lovely combinations of colours!! Looking soo good, MashaAllah!! May Allah bless them all, ameen!
Thanks AA, wonderfull pictures.
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
Hey Zephyrus, when r u getting married? and do u need help deciding on d colours n stuff?
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/51.jpg
I love d beige one too and the contrast background really brings on d kaam on d border..
where the maroon one..with no contrast in d border,u can hardly make out d work on it..
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/c.jpg
do u like how they put a masale ki patti on the bottom of d pyjama as well? I somehow dont really like it..
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/e.jpg
and here, the importance of tightening ur jadawi laccha..its supposed to b a choker n tight n nice around ur neck..i knw its irritating but when its worn the way it is supposed to be worn, only then can u really admire its beauty and d whole look..hanging loose around d neck,it just looks bad..
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
and like u said, its supposed ro b a standing veil..so its supposed to look all stiff..u knw hw purane zamane mein tissue used to b d most popular material fr KDs..but only d very thin n slim brides can carry tht off cuz otherwise it makes u look bloated..i loved d silk one u posted..looks gorgeous
n if not net,u can u use georgette, chiffon,i hv seen ppl mk dupatta out of benaras silk as well!gives d stiff look..thn thrs tissue n tht other kapda thts sooo popular in all d dukaans rite nw wd d dots n flowers n stuff..
and i agree wid u..d broad borders make u look broader!u need to b able to get all d 4 borders on one shoulder..so d draping is very important too
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
Here r sm more pix of red n purple KDs which r really good..it all depends on d shades u choose,n u hv a really good bridal KD
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
AA I don’t know when will I get married
I’m just trying to get the minute details straight so that when I have to make a choice I choose something that would flatter and enhance wht Allah gave me, after all you are a bride for a few hours but those few hours live for-ever and I don’t want to look back at Me-The-Bride and go ‘wht the hell was I thinking!’
and I hope I find IL’s who would let me choose my outfit, AMEEN!
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/c.jpg
I dnt like the patti at the bottom of the pyjama, it must have loads of chudis yaar and must be well fitted like this
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/85059/des2-pic.jpg
I jst don’t seem to like red-purple combo at all
it seems strange to me somehow
but http://www.paklinks.com/gs/wedding/241742-hyderabadi-khara-dupatta-5.html This bride is so Beautifull, she would look good in allmost anything!!!MashaAllah, May Allah keep happy allways, Ameen. where did she get het make-up done?
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/52.jpg Velvett masala!! now this looks good, very regal and rich. Also the love the purple dress, its ahs such delicate gota butis! where did they get that done?
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/91.jpg
FANTASTIC!! its such a neat and elegant KD, yes the masala is perfect-size&work wise, just perfectly perfect!!
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/22.jpg
This Kd is soo BEAUTIFOOOOL!! and I’m sure so is the bride, MashaAllah.
this colour,falsa-berry-mauve is becoming a fast contender to red but i think it looks good only on very gori dulhans.
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/51.jpg
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/e.jpg
the importance of wearing jadawi lacha and wearing it right
I thinks its a good idea to wear a long haar with jadawi lacha rather then wear a satlada as the satlada gets lost in the layers of the dupatta.
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
Regarding the material, I’ve come a conclusion.
1-thin brides-- tissue, benaras silk with thin border/masala
2-healthy brides-- stick to net, chiffon with thin borders/masala
If the border is broad, u can drape the dupatta on both the shoulders,
![]()
![]()
^contrast kurtanis don’t always look good, they are a huuuge gamble.
My cousin draped her Kd on both shoulders, but it had a thin masala, even that looked good, here’s her pic. Her kd was of net and sadly it didn’t turn out the way she wanted ![]()
But I think two shoulder drape looks better on bridesmaids only..wht say?
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
u r right zeph.contrast borders r a huge gamble..u need to really get the colours right.
Also,i personally dnt really like draping the dupatta on both shoulders..although it probably does make d whole dupatta more manageable n divides d weight between d 2 shoulders n helps in mobility,it somehow doesnt look as good as draping it one side does..but i guess, bridesmaids n lil kids can carry it off
n u totaly got the material thing rite.i would say the same.
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
i love hw ppl r getting creative with the dupatta..they r using different materials r d kurtanni n different materials fr d dupattas..i found a pic of a really pretty kd like tht n d dulhanz really pretty too..the combo is red n blue..am nt much of a fan of dis combo fr a kd,bt i love it otherwise..
i also like how ppl r putting huge borders on d daaman of d kurtanni, like dis..different frm d conventional one..
http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/32.jpg
and i like d chuddis on d pyjama as well..but my mom says tht,a khada pyjama looks best wd it..khada pyjama is a straight pyjama, widout any chuddis..
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
heres a close up of d faalsa dupatta u loved
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
MashaAllah!! Its just drop dead gorgeous!! See the ghooghat is so simple with a thin border-no lataknia-very light work and THAT is wht is making the KD totally take the spotlight-MashaAllah!! and what a lovely colour!!!
That huge border on the kutani looks different, actually i’m anti-broad border so u put it anywhere and I won’t like it much ![]()
khada pyjama would suit a bride who is not very tall, in fact I think those on the shorter side must compulsurily wear a khada pyjama because it creates an illusion of height and does clutter up the total look. And the same applies to those on the heavier side as a chudidaar with lots of chudis can add to the girth and thereby reduse the height…in this case they can use a masala patti on the hem of the pyjama just to make it look more ‘party’ thing
like u pointed out here http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/107991/c.jpg
and yes 2 shoulder draping for lil girls and brides-maids becoz for a bride the 2-shoulder draping along with ghooghat would make her look like the incredible Hulk ![]()
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
lol..she wud sure look like d incredible help..haha
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
here r a few pics of d red n blue kd i ws tlking abt earlier
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
^ quite unique!! never seen aany KD in this combination!! The bride is so pretty, MashaAllah!! yeah the batwa's cute!! and look how they matched the haath ka joda with the blue of the border-- now that's chic touch!
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
yep,i liked it too..
chk dis kd out...it is one of my absolute favs!this ws made in khi,fr a khi bride n she wore it for her valima,so thts why d colour wrks..also,d combo n d work is awesome!
Re: Hyderabadi Khara Dupatta
WOW!WOW!WOW!WOW! FANTASTIC!! PERFECT!!! Its soooo beautifull!!! the colour, the kaam everything everything is sooo beautifull!! fantastic jst fantastic!!
Incidentally I own a KD which was made in pakistan and everytime my sister wears it strangers come up to us and ask us where did we get it from!! its made of pink net with kamdani all over it and the masala is wht stands out becoz of the craftmanship…the best KD’s are made in pakistan and pakistani’s crave hyderabadi masala-wht an irony!!
