Her so called stone hearted attitude sends such a retarded message to women in South Asian societies. Considering how ridiculously popular this drama is, I have to say that sorry ladies, there is nothing romantic or cute about staying silent when you are constantly being accused of something as disgustingly serious as cheating/adultery. It makes no sense. It makes perfect sense for not to share the details of her tough life with Hareem as a single mother because Asher's sympathy will only make her look weak, but its a completely different scenario to have him run all over you and still allow him to proudly live under the delusion that you are the one with the filthy slate. At one hand she proudly holds her head high by not asking Asher for sympathy, at the same time, she gives him an epic opportunity to look down on her in the most resentful and despicable manner. because the so called iron lady come satti savitri herione doesn't have the guts to say 'enough is enough'. I am a human and you can only abuse me for so long.
See that's the thing. She really doesn't care what Asher thinks regarding what she did.It seems like she doesn't let the abuse get to her head or heart...I mean she said "Asher merai dil sai uttar gaya"..And she did try to tell him...the letter and the phone calls. But he didn't give her a chance...
A bit of clarification, just a hint of it, to put a coward man back in its place does not mean she's warming up to him or has a special place for him in her heart.
Its not a criticism of Khirad's character, its about lazy script. In the second half, I don't remember seeing a scene where both characters have equally good lines, its always the case one character's script dominating the other one.
I think pretty much everyone agress on the fact that the screenplay is not the strongest point of Humsafar. Of course the story had major flaws and you can't expect too much from a writer of Farhat Ishtiaq's calibre. For pure dialoques of substance one would have to go back and watch dramas of the likes of Ashfaq Ahmed. To avoid any frustrations, we should take Humsafar as light entertainment with good quality acting and very good quality direction and production. Nothing less nothing more.
^^Agreed.
Nothing against the writer, but when I read the novel I did not find anything oh la la appealing about it.It was a weak story basically, and if it was not a drama getting popular about 5 months ago,I would have not even bothered to read it.Despite that, the production team have done a good effort taking such an ordinary story and creating a drama out of it which has become more than popular. It is because of the direction, the characters and the chemistry between them and all that.
I really don’t blame Khirad . She doesn’t want to go back to someone she wasn’t good enough for. In cases of adultery or affairs it is not easy to prove otherwise. It is her word against so many scheming people. I think Khirad is fed up and doesn’t give it damn but she has a child. I don’t think she is being difficult. It is not worth the pain. However leaving her child with such evil people is not a great choice either but what can she do! When there are so many people against you being with someone it I easier to give up!
^ I agree with you. The way I see Khirad's attitude towards Asher now is that she feels it is beneath her to prove her innocence to him, especially when he should have trusted her back then, no questions asked, because he claimed to LOVE her.
You know how they say, once you lose that trust/respect factor, it rarely ever comes back - and that's what's happened with her, so she really does not see a point in bringing up the past and explaining to him what happened. She did that years back, constantly called him, refused to leave the house and was kicked out, I think she did every thing possible in her way to be there and tell Asher the truth, and him never getting back to her crushed her ego big time.
And we all know how much they emphasized on the point about how "khud-daar" Khirad is. So when people like these have to bend their egos/anaa, especially when they have been wronged, this is how they react.
I do understand where Khirad I coming from. So many people that she didn’t deserve Asher. She wasn’t good enough for him. the only reason why she was forced to do this because of Hareem. In cases of adultery it’s her word against so many scheming people. Whats the point of even bothering to tell Asher what happened. In case of Hareem it was easier to prove that she was Asher’s daughter. Even the the DNA test would have proved that. this is similar to mzzb. The truth only came out when Arfins mother admits she lied. It is very difficult to disprove adultery in Pakistani society. so in a sense Saba gave up just Khirad did. In this only Allahs wrath can teach these rope a lesson!

I agree. I had read the novel years ago and it was a forgettable one. The story itself is not that appealing or unique. That is why I give the director huge points for turning this ordinary novel into something good.
Also what are other quality drama options out there for the viewers? Frankly there are none!!! So it was a breath of fresh air for Pakistani viewers who are sick and tired of crappy dramas.
I also think if it wasn't for the good looking main cast, this drama would not be this popular. I know that I saw many episodes purely for Khrid's wardrobe..

If we're talking about Hareem, then there is indeed a point in telling Asher about what exactly happened.
Freeda had vowed to use every opportunity to get Hareem out of Asher's life and then there's Asher who once again is getting increasingly disturbed and angry over what he thinks Khirad did. If Asher has no idea about the truth, how long do you think he'll be able to resist Freeda's 'like mother like daughter' taunts? Freeda is a wicked woman and it wouldn't take her long to paint Hareem's existance as a constant reminder of Khirad's unfaithfulness. So how can her daughter's future be secure in a house full of painful misunderstandings?
People here are thinking in extreme, either its that complete silence or Khirad reading out an essay to 'prove' her innocence, when all neutral fans (like me) are asking here is just one line, a one good single line to make Asher think (just think, if not understand or agree) about the past. The writers really don't like giving him an opportunity to put 2 and 2 together by himself. Thank God for Khizar otherwise the main hero is disgustingly dumb.
Majority here agreed on this one.The Yale graduate does not think enough and never tried to put 2 and 2 together, especially around the episodes when the accusations and all happened.
These were the things which made it a weak story.I think the changes they made to the screenplay were better than the original story. (for example the way the letter made its appearance in the novel was actually quite silly..!!).I also tend to agree that a one liner from Khirad,in her stern tone she uses with Ashar would have been appropriate.

Mahira Khan's character is perceived as a farishta from Jannat by keeping her mouth shut .... that is the idiotic message that has been put forth.
I understand that she keeps saying that she is just there for her child. I get that she doesn't care and he can say whatever he wants, but in real life, most women would not just sit there with their mouth shut unless they did not believe in themselves (self-esteem) or had some sort of fear of a reaction ...
Her child is ok now and has received the medical help she required. This was her reason for putting up with Asher, living in his house and keeping her mouth shut. At this point, Khirad should have said something to Asher when he was going on at her by the beach.
I am going to be glad when this drama is over. I am getting fed up of having to read about this serial in other serial threads that have nothing to do with Humsafar.

I disagree. The truth did have to come from those involved other than Khirad. There were many instances were Khirad was nice to Khizr.......It was naive Khirad being Khirad. The seeds of doubt were planted in Asher's mind. The truth is what son thinks his mom would be SO EVIL? There are evil MIL such like there are evil DIL's but typically men especially mama's boys like Asher's don't think there are mothers are evil. Yes, they do think they are occasionally overbearing and annoying but not EVIL like the MIL in mzzb and like Fareeda. Unless a son has seen his mother be such a female dog with another Bahu/bhabi they cannot fathom the fact that this is possible. Khirad does not come out and tell him she is pregnant so she could surprise him.....those events were created to extend the drama and sequence of event.
The biggest problem I have now is that the director waited till the VERY LAST EPISODE to resolve this problem. I wish Khizr had told him earlier but it makes sense to show that he forgave her even if she guilty. I don't think they have enough time to have a conversation between Asher and Khirad......I think the biggest regret that Khirad has is that her husband thinks she is an immoral woman. The one year she spent with him didn't really convince him of her character and innocence. But honestly one year of marriage is not a long time to build the trust that Fareeda has with her mom. That bond is way stronger than a year long marriage. Once again an accusation of adultery espeically when another man is touching your wife (whatever the purpose was) is harder to dispprove.
