Those of you who are bringing Islam as their argument i might remind you, that wife cannot work without the permission of her husband. OP's husband islamically can prevent her to work and support her parents.
And what is wrong with telling the husband about financial situation of parents. Even men who are sole earners in the family shud share their financial situation with wives, why can't she do that.
And frankly if the parents are so ashamed of letting damaad know what they are getting from their daughter, they shud not accept anything from her.
Am not qualified to comment on 1st para. Agree with last two paras. No harm done in sharing details of expenses between spouses.

When it comes to not supporting ones parents and making your wife feel bad for providing financial assistance to them from her own halal ki kamai that he has no say over anyway, then no, I don't feel one ounce of shame.
I will follow whatever financial decision my husband makes for us or our children, but when it comes to my parents (Allah SWT unko Jannat naseeb karray) then he better not stop me. And vice versa...I would be a horrible wife for stopping him or giving him crap for providing financially for his mom.

umm I'm all about being to open with one's husband BUT the man has a problem with the money his wife made BEFORE the got married. How is that any of his business? He was hoping she would've saved the money for him to use after they got married. How do some people not see that as a problem? What is the poor girls fault in all this? I didn't know girls were suppose to sav every penny so their future husband could mooch off of them. If a girl isn't married and lives at home with her parents why wouldn't she help out at home financially? Sometimes GS worries me. :(
No one hear says the husband is not the problem. It is obvious. Some have suggested some solutions that include open communication in a calm manner. As RV eloquently stated a while back - that the hubby is a jerk is beyond doubt. I concur with her that the key is to find solutions - which do not include stating the obvious- IMO.

So one eloquently managed to out judge a person who has no meaningful existence or contribution in the said thread, and you had a reason to actually agree, acknowledge and share the same afterthoughts as they did. Based on a one sided affair where the person gets zilch participation to defend himself?

Financial assistance to parents is a duty on the male children, other duties are on both male and female children. However, should a female child provide financially for her parents she gets a double reward where a son would get only a single reward.
Where did you hear that from?
