I don’t know where you are from in India (south usually is more sane than the northerners due to their nature and/or high literacy rate) but in the north, especially around delhi, UP they still have a pakistan-obsession syndrome going on (haven’t accepted 1947) and even a pro-India like Thoman Friedman of NY Times pointed that out!

Remember, India can never challenge China on a one-by-one basis as all China has to do is keep beefing up Pakistan and maybe even other countries in the region like myanmar to have very good iritants for India always!
Hence the term objectivity - the numbers that come from a 3rd party are generally considered more objective than those from the principals. And if it is the same 3rd party, there is consistency in methods too.

I thought the PAF bought 200 or so sparrows but the F-16A/B were not capable were of operating them and they were never upgraded.
The mirages were supposed to be carrying the south african DenelDarter AAMs but I dont think they are operational.
Did the PAF ever consider the Mirage F1 esp. in 1988-90 period? much better than the mirages from australia.

Mirage F1 wouldn’t have been a very good choice. The mirages we have right now (without ROSE) are about 60% as good as Mirage F1. Also, F1 was more expensive.
