Since I've gotten ppregnant, my mom has been telling me about this ALL the time lol. The flat head thing is so weird and my mom's always saying how mine is nice and flat whereas my sister has a totally round head. I see no difference, really. So idk, I kind of don't want to do something like that to my kid - mainly cos I'm just scared, it's a baby ffs! But yeh, mom's get so excited about grandkids it's hard to argue lol.

that the exactly same thing i m going thru, my 3 year old has a round head, its not flat from the back and i hear these things literally every other day that i din make effort and its so much on my mind like all the time...i keep on thinking m i not a good mum? he is my first child and i was against putting ne cardboard or plate thing under his head..i was overprotective and i din realize his head is not perfect until i visited pak and ppl told me my baby's head is not right, i mean who r others to judge me n say SIR KHRAB KER DIA thing :(.....well can ne one tell me what can be done at this stage when he is 3? has he have to live with hearing this thing too?:(

^the problem when you think it's not perfect!!!
let them say whatever they want to.. and if you can use the reply that I had (I love my son way too much so I hold him all the time instead of putting him down to make his head- people werent happy with me :D) but who cares! my baby is perfect mashaAllah, round or flat head isnt going to make him any different to me!
Best is to ignore.. and keep saying that he looks perfect to you and thats all what matters!

I personally think the round heads are more aesthetically pleasing. And anyway, I don't see any reason to change a natural shape.

I think its mainly done to avoid having long oval heads, which I don't really find attractive. When you are talking flat, I guess you are talking a slightly, very subtle pressed shaped as oppose to popped out oval shape? Thats what I think....
Btw, I've seen baby head shaping pillow at English shops as well...

okay i have never ever ever ever seen a kid wtih a flat round pointy whatever head. at least..i never noticed it.

on the contrary, I've always been told that touching the nose/pinching it frequently makes it mota !!!!!!! :S
I think the worst has to be about the chest, hands down. Apparently the chest pressing is so the girl 'develops' later. I would never forgive my parents if they'd EVER put me through any of these atrocities!
To be honest I didn't even notice flat/round heads until I saw this thread.

I had a colleague, whose head was deformed. I think the mom let him sleep on one side as a baby. It was aweful to look at it as it was very obvious.
I am very carefult about this, even my mom was, she was giving me advice on how to get a round head. I would roll a piece of soft long cotton cloth, like a 'pagri' and place the baby's head on the middle when she was sleeing. I think mA my kid's head are alright in my eyes, but I did hear from my MIL that I did not make their head, I ignored her. As for girls round heads are nice, make a pony out of a flat head and a round head, I bet the round head would look nicer.
Funny thread!! Anyways I don't like flat heads, round shaped heads are nicer. The easiest way is to place your kid on a carpet with some toys. Coz of the movements of the head, it will be round. There is only one lady who told me about matta pressing. She said look to my son, his matta is so nice now coz I pressed his forehead when he was a baby... My God it was scary....i agree making round head but no other things. My mom also thinks to have a round head but no other fazoel things.

What about nursing while lying down..could baby's head get pressed from one side leaving it to b deformed?
