i did too :D i used a thing similar to those small wheat heat packs (obviously not heating it) and it worked perfectly.
I still get compliments for her head... lol

how did u guys manage it? i failed miserably with my first one...his head is flat but not even on both sides its is not that obvious but yeah if u look at him carefully u will notice( i dont know how he will feel about it when he is older) now with my little one same thing happened.......one side looks flatter than the other. how can i make both sides even
My inlaws are so into it. every call or visit from them starts with how beautiful babies look with flat head and betha hooa matha and ends with tips.

mine just has a very round head lol. didn't have to do anything. yay!

SGC i seriously don't know if the objective is to make it flat or round. my understanding is flat from back round on sides if it makes sense.

i'd say leave well enough alone. babies heads settle down on their own, more or less, no? i have a totally round, basketball head and so does the kid. hubby has this weird ridge thing happening along the back of his head. it is what it is. they're perfect, round head or no :)

I did.. and I am glad I did. My son has more of round head but is it perfectly even... no. He is a forecep baby so the force applied to pull him messed up his head a little.. not even on both the side but I still tried my best to make it round and even.

I guess i am the only mom is the world whose child has an uneven head. every one told me it will even out when he grows up....he is four now and his head is still uneven. and after i messed up his head , i started looking at every ones head very closely even in subway i used to check out pplz heads......i havent seen any grown up with an uneven head. Hopefully he will forgive mommy for that.
May be that is why i am very careful with my 2nd born.

mine just had a very loonng head due to the suction thing the use... hence i had to fix the back of it... otherwise I prolly would have left it..

well it can be done by making a special pillow, filled with rice on both side & then sew it according to ur baby's head width, please fill cotton where baby's head will rest.

what i used was very similar to this… without the cardboard ofcourse

RG I didn't press my son's maatha although a lot of ppl in my inlaws mentioned it a lot. But then I saw one of the younger kids whose maatha had been pressed and I didn't care for.it.
My baby was also a forceps baby and was very distinctly cone headed.
I placed a baby pillow the ones that has a lil round in the middle and a cardboard underneath it. I also used a heavy cotton dupatta with knots.on both sides so he wouldn't move his head.
I also did what ppl in the village do press head on a plate. Did that for 5 mins every day. Reason for.that was that he.was 3 weeks old by the.time I got the baby pillow and his head was still conical I needed to add the plate.thing to get his head flat from the back to make up for lost time.
Btw I was adamant Abt making my babys head coz my hubby's head is not.round and it still has some soft spot in the back.

I just made sure tht she lied straight on the pillow n allhumdullah it worked everyone appreciated men asked me how I did tht. N I was like nothing just made sure she is keeping her head straight

No i didn't shape his head n put no effort in it being flat.

Dud I hear from everyone about him not being flat head in Pakistan? Yes I did n dime ven went to an extent to tell me that I was a bad mommy because I have a wry flat head ( I was born in sindh where they work on your yea to the extreme) and that it was un fair to my baby!
My reply to them...flat head means your baby is always lying done hence not being loved enough...we sport round head because mommy loved him so much that she never put him din in first 8 weeks..he slept on my chest at night time!
No offense to girls here..I was just sick n tired of listenng that from family in Pakistan..a close family member told me to leave my son with him for 15 days and tat he will fix his head...oh I ripped him apart.my babys head doesn't need any fixing!
Sorry about venting but my family is very silly in regards to flat head n I don't agree with them. :(

This is the first time I've heard of this and I am appalled :S When you say flattening the head u mean like literally pressing it????A newborn's head is too delicate to do anything with it, the most you would do is probably change sleeping positions :S
The last time I got sick to the stomach was when this daadi decided to 'dudh nikaalo' her newborn granddaughter and the poor baby ended up in the hospital because her chest had hard lumps. Apparently it is to make her a 'woman' and so she has a flatter chest when she is growing up?!!

I think u mean making the kids head round and refraining it from getting flat.
Its not just a desi thing. Well the whole plat and matha pressing is.... But we get hand outs to make parents aware of flat heads... And how to make sure ure baby doesnt get it... U are meant to keep moving the baby's head so that it lies on a diff side each time it rests...
We put genie to sleep on the left side...on the right...flat on her back ... Swtiched positions each time...so the back of her head wouldnt flatten... And they do this with babies in hospitals too...
But more than this....i didnt do anything else.... She had a pointy head at the back which playing on the floor took care off automatically :D

Khawa..desis prefer it toe flat..pointy is a big no no, round isn’t acceptable either. Our pediatrician also warned us about not letting it be flat head but my mom was like..is ko Miyaata 
I have nothing against flat head..I have it too but when it becomes zindagi mot ka masla ( like it does in my family) I don’t appreciate that… Let the baby be a baby!!!
