I applied for MA at 3 weeks ago, one week conincided with an easter break. I am seriously apprehensive about the lack of reply.
How long is a standard wait time before unis get back to you with a yay/nay/maybe.

Re: How long?
These days they have e-mail addresses. Drop them a little note.
Re: How long?
I did. They said "wait man"...I feel if I email them again they may think "man this kid is harassing us..." and it may negatively impact my application.
I need this place bro.
Re: How long?
i suggest you wait for their response. and pray for the best.
Re: How long?
3 weeks?!? you're certainly impatient... 6 to 8 weeks is considered an early response for graduate programs - and 10 to 12 weeks is the average. At least that's how it is in North America.
Re: How long?
We have always been more efficient then the yanks. :D
Re: How long?
^ when I applied for my grad admissions, LSE got back to me after 3.5 months :halo:
A lot depends upon the popularity of the program that you’re applying for.
Re: How long?
You went to LSE?
I thought you went to McMaster mate?
Re: How long?
^ I never said I went to LSE - I "applied"...
I didn't go cuz the scholarship I was offered only covered tuition expenses.
Re: How long?
Seen.
How's the Phd going bro?
12 weeks eh? sheesh!
Re: How long?
its going alright... hoping to be done in another 6 to 8 months inshaAllah.
Re: How long?
How long's it taken you? 4 years? :o
Re: How long?
it'll be 4.5 by the time I'm done... which is just about average for North America. It's not bad considering I've been working f-t too.
Re: How long?
4,5 half years to do phd?
hmmm, gotta be a short cut out there.
Re: How long?
3 yrs here. standard.
Re: How long?
^ yep... European and Australian University models of Ph.D. programs don't involve coursework and in some cases comprehensive exams... so that shaves off 1.5 to 2 years off the bat.
Re: How long?
4,5 half years to do phd? hmmm, gotta be a short cut out there.
haha... I guess you haven't met ppl who're pursuing Ph.D.s ... 5 years is very common in the U.S. and Canada... like I said, the average is between 4 to 5 years tending more towards 5.
Re: How long?
Just do PhD's in Europe. As valid as anywheres, and much quicker.
Re: How long?
^ I agree… and I’ve been recommending this to everyone who talks to me about Ph.D. student prospects.
Unfortunately, for me… I needed a source of gainful employment while pursuing my studies, and this wouldn’t have been possible if I were to go pursue my studies in Europe. Visa and work permit restrictions etc. would have made it difficult to support myself and send money home as well. So all in all, it’s worked rather well in Canada… I had a lot of corporate contacts to land me consulting gigs, I taught at various colleges and universities etc. while studying, and all this helped buff up the CV as well.
Re: How long?
For some odd reasn, I always thought PhD was a 6 yr program or maybe it is with M. Phill...
