No Air conditioning in New York

I’ve lived in and around NYC all my life and have always had A/C. Mostly window units but one apartment building I lived in had central air. Every office building I’ve ever entered had central air. If you’re bargain-hunting for rentals, the units without A/C of course will cost much less and its usually not the better areas where the majority of rentals are without it.

Really. I’m not looking for a place, but I have a LOT of family and friends there and NO way has AC.

I guess I am just trying to understand how do they manage living like that in the summer without getting sick…
