I am very sanwali, my skin turns pretty dark in summers, my husband has fair complexion & neat like Mikaal Zulfiqar,

It was an arrange marriage. He didn’t have any issues with my color. I have never felt insure or have any kind inferiority complex after marriage.

That's a good hopeful example. Personally I think sanwali rang is better than fair rang but if I find a mikaali I hope she accepts my colour. My ex rishta left me and the guy was fair. It's hard to forget that.

I've never seen dark girls in Pakistan having any problem with attracting guys and getting bf's, because of their color.
Dont see what the ruckus is about.

there are men who are very fair but are not attractive and there are men who are dark as dark as Jaysuria of Srilanka but are extremely attractive and handsome.

same goes for the girls too.
but my question is why is it a must to have either one of these to get married. like why should a guy be fair and attractive and if not fair then at least attractive to be on a marriage scene?
and why girl has to be fair and if not fair then must be charming/attractive to get married??

First time i am hearing someone compliment Jaysuria for his looks. That make me feel happy. :)Everyone has some beauty. I don't know why fairness or attractiveness is something we need to get married. Why can't we choose people on how religous or spiritual they are, on their personality and on how much they value and respect us. What if a wife/husband has accident and their looks change or they become darker for some reason, will you leave them? no you won't. Marriage is forever and you marry becaue you know you want to spend the rest of your life with that person and then also build a family with them. Only their mind, behaviour and actions shoulld matter

OP, I don't think dark skin is considered such a negative when it comes to guys..

In my family we have quite a few examples of dark men married to pale women.. One of my grandads was almost black and he married a white woman and my own dad is quite dark whilst my mum is very fair..

I know someone who met a guy and admitted he was great but way too dark. She is now married to a guy as white as snow...guess it does matter to some girls too.

It wasn't something I was fussy about.

In my circle, I’ve seen a LOT of tanned/dark men married to women with milky white complexion. Opposites attract, right :wub:

On a different note,one of my uncles is quite fair but he is short (5’‘4/5’'5) for a guy. He has always been attracted to women with darker complexion + teekhay nain naqsh + tall. His mom was very much opposed to the idea of a pakki-sanwli bahu, but he remained adamant that if he married at all, it would have to be a girl of his choice. Luckily, he found someone who looks like aishwarya (same eyes + nain naqsh) + skin color resembles bipasha or maybe even 2 shades darker + she is a good 2 inches taller than him without heels.

He okay’ed her as soon as he saw her pic. They’re one of the happiest couples in my family. They have 2 sons: one dark and one fair. Her saas, although a tough/mean lady (for outsiders), has always treated her with respect and love. She makes sure no one utters a word of disrespect to any of her bahu’s/grandchildren.

With all those Fair-n-Lovely ads on tv, its quite clear what Pakistani society thinks of color. And yes, 99% of time women are targeted for not being fair enough. We could really benefit from "Black is Beautiful" advertisement in Pakistan.
True that looks are an important part of deciding your spouse, but color should not be the only factor in judging beauty. Dont dark colored people have better skin than white colored people ... read something along these lines in a magazine .....
My wife is a couple shades darker than I am, no objections from me.

One thing I've noticed is that...most men that are interested in me are lighter.

I haven't gotten any rishtay from dark skinned guys...hmmm...does that mean they also have prejudice against their own kind?

I am darker than your average Pakistani girl but I have always been told that I have beautiful features which makes me a lot more attractive than anyone with pale skin. .But I do feel that too many Pakistani's are unable to see past the colour to be able to even notice my naksh, nope they too busy tryna figure out and have even asked me to my face if I'm Bengali or sri Lankan. When I tell them I'm Pakistani they are surprised and try they level worst not to show it.

If I ever find a gora revert I will most def be marrying him cus I feel they appreciate my skin colour so much and I get compliments from them all the time.

How can i not think to worry. Lot of the girls who replied here would go fair if given the choice but they do say they like dark skin as well. That's something.

I loved a white girl once who absolutely adored my dark skin but we had some other unrelated issues. They actually prefer dark skinned guys. I totally support my pakistani sisters who find a dark skin affirming gora revert who appreciates them rather than marry into a toxic family who does not appreciate the beauty of darker skin tone. I've had crushes on dark skinned girls from bengali, indian to sri lankan as well as tanned pakistani.

I dated a guy for a year who is darker than your average black person...south indian, v. v. dark ...when I first laid eyes on him, didn't give him a chance but he had such an attractive personality, always surrounded by people, party animal...I was the one who ended up chasing him.

I get the ‘you’re so charming’ and ‘you have lovely features’ :cb: oh piss offf…been hearing that all my life. The fact remains that if I was gori my rishta process would have been resolved when I was 18.

Despite being dark you most likely get more attention from guys than most fair skinned Pakistani guys get from women.

I agree generally it is harder for guys, of any complexion, to grab the attention of a female than it is for females. Then when you do you have to worry about cominig across the wrong way when you just want to be friendly.

You know God knows how pissed off I get when certain cousins of mine from Pakistan think they are really complimenting me and making feel happy when they keep reminding me how I'm more gori than my sister (who btw isn't at all dusky, not even a bit) and somehow that's supposed to make me more 'beautiful' than her. It's so embarrassing, it truly is to to hear the same old thing every time I bloody put my camera on. I'm actually on the verge of lashing out on them if next time they reminded us once again how we are shade differentfrom each other. Big bloody deal eh?

I understand if older generation still holds this attitude but the fact 20 something people have the same mentality is quite sickening.
