Most people use foundation to try and achieve a 'flawless' (in terms of 'imperfections', spots etc) or even complexion, not to actually try and look lighter skinned..

My husband is quite tanned well compared to me I guess he's a few shades darker, but I think it's attractive :D.

Yes in some cases but most people buy cosmetics to cover up imperfections in their skin.

I think it purely depends on the individual. Personally I don't ever judge my likeness for a person on how they look or by they're skin colour but I look at compatibility.
Iv seen couples who are poles apart in their skin colours and still look like they are made for each other.
I always wanted a husband with a fair complexion but ever since Iv started my rishta search Iv changed my mind and look at compatibility more than the skin colour

I was attracted to a Pakistani guy who was dark skinned, a guy with normal wheatish skin and then the very fair Pakistani as well. So I've liked all :D Overall looks and personality matter more.
My mom is mA very fair, she looks like a European but my dad is normal dark skin guy :)
