Re: how do you differentiate between a pakistani and an indian?
Many self-denials. The vast majority of Pakistanis share not just physical features but DNA with their cross border cousins, whether it be with India, Afghanistan or Iran.
I know Indians are bad because they're mostly Hindus and some of us don't want to own up to the reality of their forefathers being Hindus, but come on look in the mirror. Beyond skin color, an Indian Punjabi and Pakistani Punjabi is pretty much from the same stock. Same applies for Sindhis and many Urdu speakers.
But it doesn't end there, Pakhtuns and Baluchis have that same linkage across the border with Afghanistan and Iran (Seistan va Baluchistan only). I absolutely refuse to buy this Pakistanis are lighter concept nor is it true that most of our ancestors are from the Middle East.
Also folks we need to separate ethnicity from nationality where you can be from a particular ethnic group but a national of different country. That's how you have Afghani Hindus/Sikhs. Ethnically they might be north Indian but nationality wise, they are considered Afghan.
How do you know that what we call Zeera is not called Jeera in their culture. Names of things have no universal standards. The name changes with the culture and language.
**Maybe they are making fun of us in their forums, **saying .. dude, its jeera, not zeeraa .. jeeraa with jaaaayyyyy .. how difficult is that.
Maybe they are. But I doubt their Director is defending us :)
oh comn now, it’s already been said in this thread and i’ll repeat it again, peopl speaking different language have their own way of pronounciation…in indie’s language they say hajaar, in urdu they say hazaar?..just like in english you say computer and in swahili we say kompyuta..ki fark painda he?..everyone has their own way of speaking in their own language…in memoni/kutchi/sindhi they use hajaar as well…and they are not indian
Maybe they are. But I doubt their Director is defending us :)
I am not defending them, I was pointing out the shallowness of some posts. If pointing out our weakness is defending others then so be it.
Should I also not stop my kids from making fun of the color of the skin of another child in their school cause when I do that, I am defending the other child?
Re: how do you differentiate between a pakistani and an indian?
^try to understand instead of taking things so defensively:smack:
maybe there are ways that you can use to differentiate a pakistani and an indian..people could have said what they are in a better way..instead they tried to mock eachother( Alhamdulillah not evryone did that)
^ I am sorry, my bad. I forgot the only non-shallow mocking is mocking-Pakistan.
Two wrongs dont make a right Masi.
My POV is not GS pov, I have right to express my opinion and you do not have to agree with me at all.
To me, comparing skin color and thinking that we are better cause we have fair skin is shallowness, be it a Pakistani person thinking like that or an Indian.
There are many obvious differences between two. Overlap does exist from distance but even then the person can tell the difference.
If the person is familiar of both people, one can be almost all the time correct in identifying who is Pakistani and who is not.
A friend of mine who is not at all biases claims that in general Punjabi Sikhs are fairer skinned than Punjabi Muslims. He has lived with both.
I am not sure if its a contradiction as CASTE also plays a role too. A Brahmin could be lighter than any other caste which speaks the same language for example?

Your frined is not correct.
By the way, in my post I never tried to make anyone look 'better' than other. I just tried to mention the qualities and properties by which a person can tell who might be Pakistani or Indian if those qualities are observed or seen. (If those qualities are not seen or observed then it will be difficult to differentiate.)
In my post I also said overlap exists.
Brahmin is related to 'religious caste' made by Hindus themselves, not a national based difference. Meaning, a Brahmin may be Pakistani or Indian.
Don't most Pakis have Indian genes. Over 80% are of purely of Hindu ancestry, the other 20% are mainly of Hindu descent.
Upper caste Hindu converts generally acknowledge there Hindu ancestry, while lower castes have adopted names like Qureshi or Gilani. But trust me we are all Hindu descent.
On that India Pakistani video, how come they had no clips of light skined India actors like Akshay Khana or Katrina Kaif.
One thing that is absolutely disturbing in this thread is that how our Pakistani brothers think that they are damn good looking while their Indian counterparts just walked out of the caves.
Please when you compare beauty, do not forget that when it comes to the global standards of beauty, Showbiz .. our Pakistani actors and actresses do not even touch what Indian are offering.
Even then, the behavior of people in this thread lacks amazing amount of character. We can keep thinking that we are God's gift to mankind while Indian are earth crawling creature but when it comes to IT, Medical, Physics, Engineering and any other fields, our butts have been kicked over and over again by our neighbors from the East.
And the video is not just outright disgusting, biased and shameful but also a lie. Mohd Ali Jinnah was not a Pakistani. He was an Indian who was technically a Pakistani for only 1 year out of his 72 years of life.
maybe if we get out of the shallowness of comparing skin color and get onto more positive competitions, we may rise as a better nation in the future.
Till then, its no wonder that we get ape-monkey leaders like Zardari to rule us under whose leadership, izzat of our sisters and mothers is not safe. O but wait, he is good looking and that should matters. Right.
Good post.
Though I can differentiate when it comes to fashion and music...but thats it.

i can easily tell by the way they talk in urdu or hindi, there is a world of difference between the two languages...accents, pronounciations vary completely.
frankly, TLK I personally found your post more offensive and racist than anything that has been said about an indian here, I don't see a single post where complexion or looks were mocked, pretty mixed and general views. is it the video alone you took offense to? a few other people made similar jokes following yours but nobody took offense because its a lighthearted thread. if you are so easily offended by off handed remarks, then please don't indulge in them either and if you can give it out, learn to take some too :)
You ask him where does he work and he says Chevron ..
if he meant 'Company' he is an Indian. If he meant 'gas station' he is a Pakistani.
