i think quite a few of them are very similar because many migrated to pakistan after independance…pakistanis have a stretched, fair and delicate kinda skin..whereas indians(or those who’ve migrated to pak) are kinda dark or even if they are fair, their skin is kinda thick from the looks of it…but it’s not always the case, really difficult to tell:hinna:

You are one of very few who can't. During one trip abroad i decided to test everyone, and whoever asked me where i am from, i said India and 90% refused to beleive and of those 90% correctly picked up that i am Pakistani.

i miss moin.ul.atiq. he is your man on this topic. but since he is busy with his physics laboratory in multan, i'll try to summarize his findings.

there are three methods available to us.

1. first and less intrusive method - hold a light meter next to said person's face. pakistani chehras have noor, indian ones dont. (this method is often employed to identify indian spies in pakistan, especially if their shalwar's naara is too tight.)

2. this is a more friendly test. with your index finger, poke subject in left buttock. if your finger hits bone in the first inch or two, definitely indian. if your fist has vanished and still no sign of bone, definitely pakistani. the downside to this test is the large ambiguity in the test space. this test is usually administered in crowded desi gatherings.

3. genetic test. devised by colonel imam. kinda expensive, but 99.9% foolproof. look at subject's nose-hair under a microscope. pakistanis chromosomes line up to spell "Allah", especially around azan time. indian chromosomes look like dollar signs, monkeys, and sometimes rats.

When people/women get to know the Pakistani men, they do like them. From distance still there are differences.

Since you asked, let me try to write down: Must tell you these are not universal or globally applied.

1- Height. Pakistani are taller in general.

2- Skin tone and color- Pakistani are more fair skinned,Pinkish lips/cheeks with sharp features. Comes from northern hemisphere. Indian skin tone is relatively dull/sullen. (Now, people from Punjab, Pakhtoonkhwa are mush more fair skinned, you may even find blond, blue eyed, very fair skinned people from Northern Pakistan. Some sikhs who shave and are from Indian Punjab do look like Pakistani.

3- Dressing: Pakistani are more trendy and Indian are more plain clothed or very different color choices. Pakistani spend more money and time on dressing or trendy items. Anyone can spot Indian women dressing from distance.

4- Gait/hand gesture. Indian do walk differently. Indian stay more still, while Pakistani use hand gesture more.

5- Facial expressions: Indian do “head bobbing” when engaged in talking with someone.

6- Emotional reactions like more flamboyant, revealing and full of expression are Pakistani men and more deep and unrevealing are Indian men.

7- Accent: If from US, Indian still speak more in British accent (Indian FOB’s/FOP’s). If US born then there may not be appreciable difference. Indian try to speak more proper English with less slang words but Pakistani do.

8- Hair style: Indian have straight cut hair or at times more careless about facial/nasal hair. Pakistani men try to groom themselves better.

9- Content: Indian use words carefully in their conversation more than Pakistani who are carefree and less political/diplomatic.

I am surprised you cannot tell difference. That’s okay though.

Now you mentioned about celebs: The selection of celebs in Pakistan is not organized and based on other criteria than qualities. No real schools. Religious reasons also hold people of good looks to go in to show-biz. It’s not like beauty is not there in Pakistan. Pakistani women do not go out in to world for beauty competition commonly either.

achaa … but i am not goi ng up to them you know … i randomly see someone walk by … or standing somewhere .. and i then i wonder .. is he/she pakistani?
aaaaaaaahhh … i saw this girl in the mall a few days ago … she lookd pakistani .. but i wasnt sure … could be indian too … most pakistanis that iv seen here are not really fair skinned .. more on the brownie side … and oh my lack of friends here! i sooooooo wanted to just jump at her

If they start each and every word with `Inshah Allah' they are Pakistanis. Anyway that is on a lighter side.

I think the only way one can differentiate both is from their height.Pakistanis are generally taller.But still you can find `south Indian' kind of people in Lahore and Karachi.

Farrah- You really can't a lot of times because we are such a diverse group of people. You can find black and white people and everything in between. Most Punjabis (Pakistani or Indian) look the same since they both are typically North Indid (Indo-Aryan) in features. Other than that, Pashtuns and Baloch a lot of times have sort of Mongoloid or Iranid Features and are typically light in complexion compared to most North Indians AND Pakistanis. Karachites usually look like other north Indians (Delhi, Jaipur, Laknow, Gujurat, etc), it is a mere generalization though. There are millions of Afghan/Pashtuns residing in Karachi alone. South Indians tend to be darker and have more Veddoid (almost Australoid)features.

P.S. People never know what I am. Nobody has ever guessed me to be a Pakistani or Indian. It's always something crazy like Latina, Central Asian, Persian, Turk, or Mediterranean.

i tried differentiating them from their pronounciation and all…but pakis and indies have similar accents and i failed:bummer:
