How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

i agree. even a network of traffic surveillance cameras will help determine who, what, where within hours of an incident.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

that will bankrupt Pakistan and the only place organized enough where we can place it is in Islamabad

no other place has the infrastructure to support surveillance cameras

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Yep. And in places like 'Attok' a surveillance camera will stand out like a gori mem among ninjas. Our madrassah kids will be quick to sell it for a few thousand bucks minutes after it is installed :D

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

There needs to be a unity of purpose and these people need to be infiltrated inside. This is an unconventional war and intelligence is the key as it is in insurgencies, civil unrest etc.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

I understand what you're saying, but what other options do we have?

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

We haven't even used a single option right now.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts…

I have never heard of any muslim scholars in Pakistan condemning suicide terrorism. In fact, they always find the way to justify it.

Wafaq-ul-Madaris demands Musharraf’s resignation
ISLAMABAD: The joint convention of Ulema of Wafaq-ul-Madaris and the MMA leadership have called for action against all the Army men involved in the Lal Masjid-Jamia Hafsa operation.

They held President Musharraf solely responsible for the killing of innocent students of Jamia Hafsa, demanding his immediate resignation and the restoration of Jamia Hafsa and Jamia Faridia.

The also demanded the immediate release of Maulana Abdul Aziz and his family members as well as detained students of Jamia Hafsa, otherwise a nationwide agitation against the government would be launched, besides the filing of a case against the government with the Supreme Court.

President Wafaq-ul-Madaris Maulana Salim Ullah Khan said Wafaq-ul-Madaris intends to hold nationwide conventions to highlight and plan the protection of seminaries from any possible onslaught by the government.

MNA Maulana Abdul Malik said all the matters between the government and the Lal Masjid elements had been resolved amicably, but still the assault on Jamia Hafsa was carried out at the behest of the US.

He described eight days of siege of hapless elements of Lal Masjid without any water and food as quite an agonising one, while Maulana Ata-ur-Rehman stressed on forging unity to combat the evil elements.

The convention was also addressed by NWFP Chief Minister Akram Durrani, who lamented the recent Army operation in NWFP without his approval, demanding re-opening of Lal Masjid for prayers and restoration of Jamia Hafsa and Jamia Faridia.

Supreme head of Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al Arabia Maulana Zahoor Ahmad Alvi said the army for which 80 per cent of budget was allocated was involved in genocide of its own people instead of fighting for the cause of Kashmir and Afghanistan.

Prominent among those who addressed the convention, include Maulana Hamid-ul-Haq Haqqani, Mufti Abdul Hamid of Karachi, Maulana Dr Adil Khan, Maulana Abdul Ghaffar Tauheedi, Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq and Maulana Abdul Haleem Qasmi.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Anyone wants to take this idea now? Just wondering...

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

well i belive this is not just al qaida, taliban or some religous fanatics, they are being supported by agencys who are trying to derail pakistan and create political turmoil. both inside and outside pakistan.

as for security system, i heard pakistan and china are developing a new bomb sensor which could detect suicide bombers in its radius

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Dude, find out where they plan suicide attacks.
Then we send a suicide bomber to kill all the suicide bombers.
Simple.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Punishing the families is a terrible idea. In fact it's an evil idea.

The problem has a multidimensional solution.

1) Government control over the whole country to make it harder to establish militant training camps
2) Human intelligence through infiltration of militant groups

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

High time for national reconcilliation rather than blame-gaming!

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Suicide bombers don't act alone. There are other people involved, the people that provide fundings for the operation, the trainers, the bomb makers, the facilitators and the people that provide moral support and justification for the bomber's act. To stop suicide bombing, their support network need to be eliminiated. This will mean identifying which Madrassa did the suicide bomber belong to and then shutting it down and arresting the maulvis and people that brainwashed the bomber. It will require identifying the financiers of that Madrassa and confiscating their money away. It will require identifying the bomb makers and arresting and eliminating them as well as identifying the support group and eliminating and arresting them and confiscating their money. The bomber in many cases are so brain washed, they don't really care about their family. If they did, they wouldn't be bringing them sorrow by blowing themselves.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

That's an overwhelmingly simplistic viewpoint. In many cases suicide bombers have not come from madrassas.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Kick mush out of the country send him to his partner altoo and you'll see how fast Pakistan becomes peaceful.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

In my opinion, I do not think that this would work ... though, even if this method had worked than also it is completely wrong and unacceptable. Punishing the parents of family members for the deed of their other family members should be completely 'NO'.

Anyhow, even this step is taken, it would not work. Why?

Because, suicide bombers in Pakistan are different than Palestine. In Palestine it is desperation, revenge and anger, that makes a person become suicide bomber and thus you will find mostly grown ups doing that.

In other places, especially Pakistan, it is not desperation, revenge or anger, but young brainwahsed kids are made to do suicide bombing while playing in the hand of grown up Fisadis as Zombies.

These suicide bombers are ignorant but brainwashed tools (an entity) in the hands of those who control them. Real guilty are not these people but those who brainwash them and use them.

Second is that: Suicde bombers and those that control them are two different entities.

What I know and understand .. these criminals (fisadis) do not use their own kids for suicide bombings. They move around in different (affiliated) madrassas and select kids that they think are suitable for this job (have certain characters and mentally that can be controlled and brainwashed easily). Then these kids are taken away to get brainwashed and thus they become zombies in the hand of these Fisadis. Then these fisadis use them when they want, where they want, as moving missiles.

Unfortunate thing is that .. All kids (who are right type for the job) that goes to Madrasa could become suicide bomber without even the knowledge of their parents. Most of the time, these suicide bombers are kids of innocent tribals who send their kids to Madrassa but a child from settled areas could also become victim. Most of the time, their parents would not even know that their child had become suicide bomber.

It is easy to make tribal kid victim because few could notice their disapearence and their parents give up easily (and probably that is why most of the time they are chosen), but that is not necessary.

[Here is true story .. that would give you idea how things work. I know of family in Islamabad whose kid (father was/is an officer in Army) use to go to Madrassa/Mosque and these Fisadis started brainwashing him. One day the kid (who at the time was around 14/15) disapeared.

Parents got worried and mosque people told family that they do not know anything about kids whereabout. Searach with the help of Army and intelligence started and after lot of search the kid was found in Islamabad (saved from the hand of Fisadis).]

Hence, what I believe, families of suicide bombers in Pakistan are mostly innocent victims themselves and they should not be punished. Those that need to get punished are the people that make them Zombies and use them for their evil purposes.

My solution to get rid of not only Suicide bombings in Pakistan but also to control these Fasadis plus saving Pakistan from their future mischief:

Step One: Best solution is ... to close down all Madrassas in Pakistan that have any link with such organisations (government knows what I am talking about ... as only one so-called Islamic sect in Pakistan is involved in suicide bombings ... though I believe not all their Madrassas are involved, still I believe government knows who could be invovled, but closing them Madrasa down could mean lot of hue and cry by certain very strong group in the country, who are also vocal).

Further, all other Madrasas should be monitored and that means, every teacher in Madrasas should have government screening and aproval.

All school and Madrasa teachers in the country (all without exception who teach children under 18 in any capacity), plus Mosque Imams (and anyone running religious institutions) in the country should be given especial licence to teach, preach or lead .. and for that they should take certain government exams, plus mind and character assessment ... and only people that could not be dangerous should be allowed to teach, preach or lead.

Further, to continue teaching, preaching, or leading, they should get their licence renewed every 5 years after going through examinations and certain assessments.

Every school and Madrassas should have register of all kids studying with their address and name of next of kin so that government can anytime trace that kid. School and Madrassas should be responsible of all kids that are registered with them during study hours.

**Step two: **Government should declare that any hate literature related to religious hate would get confisicated and also the property of publisher, distributer, promoter, preacher, collaborator, facilitator and affiliator would get confiscated without compensation plus depending on the sevearity of their spreading hate ... these people would get minimum sentence of 5 years and maximum death sentence if their spreading hate includes arson, killing or inciting to arson or kill.

Step three: Government should declare areas in two categories, one troubled area and other non-trouble area.

Army and Paramilitary forces should be given right to shoot and kill any person who is found carrying arms in trouble areas of country (no court would be able to interfere, though superior officers could ask and investigate such shooting ... so that this 'right to shoot' is not violated)

Army (if ordered by Colonel or above rank officer ... who would become responsible of that shooting) ... should be given right to shoot anyone carrying arms in non-declared trouble areas of the country (in court, prove of the peson carrying gun should be enough).

Army and paramilitary forces should be given right to shoot on sight anyone invovled in looting, burning, destroying or any act of arson anytime (in court, proof of their arson should be enough).

[All shooting should be with intention to injure the person except if it necessary to kill (for instance, if the person shot was intending to use arm) ... though if the person get killed, that should be taken as accident]

**Step four: **To help terrorists (these fisadis) in anyway with person or money ... to hide, aid, assist, support, finance, provide medical treatment, give refuge ... etc .. should be made crime and anyone found guilty would be given at least 10 years prison sentence plus consfication of their all assets.

**Step five: **Government immediately should stop recruitment of any person in forces and other government jobs who has any sort of extremist mentality ... and for that government should take thorough character and mental assessment of any candidate applying to join government jobs (including defence and other forces)

Thats the very reason we call them terrorists, not freedom fighters or revolutionists.
But the main question is how to deal with them and has our government done enough to protect us and our families? I say no by seeing more and more such blasts occuring within short time phrase.. Proof me wrong :)

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Clean bold FATA and resettle them in Sindh and Punjab, massive education system.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

Well the surveilance is already under negotiations. I believe it was the foreign minister or someone similar who was meeting with the British authorities today, and are in discussion over 50+ high-tech suveilance camera system to be placed in sensitive areas. And they're thinking about putting up detection posts which will scan the traffic as it passes for any explosives so they can take care of it before it becomes a destruction device.

Re: How do we stop suicide bombers? Your thoughts...

By correcting violent interpretation of quran and hadees. All the verses of quran and hadees have certain background and context. Some poeple show these quranic verses and ahadees and their translation to these suicide bombers and interpret them according to their liking. They delete a lot of details behind these verses and ahadees.
One example is Sura Tauba (9) verse 73
O Prophet! Strive (Jihad) against the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge.

This verse is often quoted by Muslim radicals to justify their action and non-muslims to prove that Islam is a violent religion.

This verse has lot of background and it is not a license to go and kill each and every non-believer and mushrik. It was revealed in certain period and under certain circumtances.

As for suicide every muslim knows that suicide is haram in Islam in any situation. There can never be a situation where you have no choice but to commit suicide.
Islam even makes haram , halal to save your own life in a life and death situation so what logic can make suicide halal in a situation. Yes haram becomes halal in life and death situation to save life. Haram(suicide) can never become halal to take innocent lives.
