^Why is it unrealistic? I've been to plenty of weddings where some kids ARE sitting quietly next to their parents for long periods of time, looking at picture books or playing with a toy brought from home...AND kids who are running like mad throughout the wedding hall no matter what amusement is or isn't provided.
Why is it the host's obligation to entertain someone else's kids when the host's child is getting married? It would be nice if everybody could provide some sort of entertainment for the children during weddings because it is long and tedious for a child to sit through quietly...but a lot of people don't have it in their budget, and even if they do, I've still been to plenty of places where it makes not one bit of difference and a lot of the kids are still causing a commotion.
