How do you married couple arrange the household economy? does he pay all the bills and you enjoy all your salary for yourself?

The way we do it is that we have one joint account, both salaries are paid into this account and everything gets paid from this account. We both have account cards, and use as and how we wish.

ok. we have seperate accounts... I pay half of the house mortage and a few other bills and pay for the groceries...he takes care of most of the bills and expences

Recently though we have been trying to budget and work towards paying off the mortgage...so we've doubled what we pay for mortgage and hubby has been giving me cash at the start of each week to use for incidentals and things that week. I like this as I see it as a challenge to see how much I can save from that money!
You don't realise how much you're spending until you spend in cash!!!!

I am also thinking of withdrawing cash for grocery shopping etc...just to see how much u actually spend..

Try writing down everything you spend, its tedious but gives you an idea of where the money is going, and you can see where you are able to save.

well, we have one joint account and other seperate. He pays the morgage and major bills, i just pay car payment and pay for groceries, and remaining i spend on stupid things.I think i need mother or someone who can ask me where i am spending my check and why wasting?he never checks on me, thats good on one end but now i am thinking i am out of control.I buy so many stupid things every day ,which irritates me but i still dont know how to change it.. very bad.even yesterday i was on right aid and bought 4 new conditioners for hairs,which i really dont need(i already haev 2 at home) and there was no sale, i just bought them to check,wow, what a freak i am? and another bad thing i hate to go to shops to return so i am keeping everything..

what if only the husband earns the money from his job - how can the wife juggle with this income? Mortgage, bills, petrol, shopping and sending some ££ abroad regularly…

naaahh he pays for every single thing…and im saving mine yet as he saves wotevers left behind…he has a huge bank balance…so it wont hurt him..

We have a joint account and our own seperate accounts. My husband pays the mortgage and all the bills from his own account whereas whatever i earn from my job goes into my account.
My husband thinks that it is his responsibility to sort all the finances out and mine to sort the household stuff which i see is only fair...he also transfers money into the joint account for the household expenditure monthly which i use for shopping/groceries etc.
Because he pays for the mortgages, bills, holidays etc, i use my own money to to buy him gifts and presents for him and sometimes for family members and to treat ourselves to show my gratitude and how grateful i am AH.

Thanks! Its because i can see him treating me so much in terms of taking me out to restaurants, treating me to lots of junk food for our evenings in, with friends, gifts etc and i would only feel guilty not giving something back so it makes me feel better and especially happy!

thats how we did it the first year. but its expensive here so we cant go on like that. i have to pay bills to in order to not going bankrupt;)

Well sometimes even if husband works, its not always enough to get by. Sunset Eyes where do you live? I know living in NYC/JC its hard to get by on one person's salary. Me and my hubby are both working and have 1 baby son. Right now we're saving extras from both our incomes towards buying a house Inshallah.

I am paying all the bills, neither one of us is enjoying her salary as she's not working yet :p
