Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
If Dailymail.co.uk says it's not justified, then no it's not justified.
On serious note, it's never justified period. Don't need to be an Alim to know that.

Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Daily Mail, BBC.. some posters seem to think every media outlet has an agenda and will blame any and everything on the West, Israel or India..
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
^ever heard of fox news??
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
^Yeah Fox of course.. But BBC is nowhere near that level yet some ppl on here have a problem even with them..
The desi equivalent of the Tea Party.. everything is a conspiracy..
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Desis suck…period…lets move on to next thread now ![]()
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Suppose. But BBC is state owned, which means it should maintain a neutral view. Fox news is private. Therefore they can get away with having an opinion
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Your standard response to a thread that rubs you up the wrong way.. How many thousands of times have you repeated that in Life1 now..
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
to answer the OP's question. I think people who carry out these honor killings are scum. Plain and simple. Look im not uber religious but even i know that no where in the quran is honor killing justified. So therefore this is a cultural phenomenon more than anything and its the culture, not the religion that should be vilified. Ive got arab friends who were asked "why do you pakis believe in honor killing??"

Thanks.. Nice to have the odd poster who actually doesn't have a problem condemning it.. (and not making post after post muddying the waters to avoid answering the question or making excuses)..

Ignore away.. Shouldn't you be careful incase you get banned from this section again anyway..

^Likewise :)

AMEN! i’ll help you with your tools, unless it’s your bare hands. in which case i can give you a nice manicure ![]()
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Okay, wow.
First of all:
the person who started the Tahmeena Afzal thread was nothing but provocative, and on top of that, what do you expect people to answer if you ask them what if your kids were like that ? anyway the answer is no and i'd be more worried if they are people out there who promote her work
I am provocative for starting a thread on a Pakistani girl who happens to be doing something I found shocking? I am provocative because I wanted an opinion b/c her parents/family are okay about it? You are so ignorant and judgmental. I wasn't promoting her work but it was important in the context of my question.
but i've read the OP of that post almost defending T. Afzal, sick.
What I find odd is that you're so easy to jump at my throat for "defending" her (which I wouldn't, why the heck would I support a moron like her to begin with? Please don't read posts to your own opinion's convenience and then conclude silly things) yet you are easily defending and justifying the comments made by the poster about throwing acid and killing. I think that is was Deeba is referring to. And to answer your question, Deeba, honor killings are never justified.
hum doesn't creating this thread also shows you are guilty of judging people AND worse making generalizations ?
If I read correctly, Deeba made a thread about honor killings and the violent tendencies of some posters on here (be it literal or not or "said out of anger"). Unless you can justify them, this thread is discussing a real issue and not JUDGING people. Plus, anyone who has the mentality to kill needs to be judged. Common sense.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
When you open a thread about a hypothetical situation like "what if your son becomes a gay" or "what if your daughter becomes Tehmeena tafzeel?" etc etc...you're supposed to expect all sort of comments. I don't understand what's the point of opening such retard threads? We parents don't want to imagine our kids in sick situations like these. People who come up with such threads definitely have some mental issues.
Heh. Seriously? That's mature. Why cant a person want somebody's opinion? Like Deeba said it was an eye opener for me too. And just because a thread like that IS open and a question of that nature is being asked, doesn't mean the inner-jaahil has to come out. There are sensible ways of dealing with stuff. Something a person with logic and common sense might know of, I guess. Khair.
This century has seen some girls from noble families turning in to a** slut** (Paris Hilton).
Wow, nice choice of words coming from someone who can justify violent words as "what do you expect when you ask something like that" but doesn't have a problem referring to a girl as a "slut". Nice logic there, Hareem. Now close the thread as per usual.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Daily Mail, BBC.. some posters seem to think every media outlet has an agenda and will blame any and everything on the West, Israel or India..
Calm down there. I only made remark about Daily Mail because you (the OP) copy pastes almost every news from there. It is a bakwas tabloid. Please use other sources for your tidbits. And yes mainstream has an agenda, if you want to be ignorant about it, be my guest. Don't know where you bring Israel and India into this.
Also you clearly ignored my serious note about there can be no justification for this type of heinous act. I said it, please quote it and stick into the back of your mind. We're not all animals and all you liberal fundos are not all saints.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Why even come up with such horrible hypothetical situations. It's one's own kids we are talking about for crying out loud. Are we SO unsure about our own morals and principles of raising kids that we fear for them to go astray to this level?
Instead of brewing responses about acceptability, skinning them, killing for honour or throwing acid on them..let's pray that nobody ever comes to face any such thing in real...being in pakistan or being abroad..desi or nondesi! For that moment would just make our heads down in front of the world as well as the life after in front of God. Nobody would care enough how we deal with our kids then..except for saying...his/her parents didnt raise them well.
So in addition to the kids' actions burden on the parents shoulder, surely they wouldnt want a humongous pile of gunnah as a result of honor killing, murdering or disfiguring them physically? doesnt make sense!
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
This a public forum where people have the liberty of posting questions and just getting opinions. We aren't neighbors, friends or relatives where we have to be so inhibited about asking for opinions or views. People this stuff way too seriously.

Is it not a serious issue to you? Come on lady!

.. and yet there are half a dozen recent threads made by OTHER posters on this forum which have also quoted from The Daily Mail.. **The reason ppl tend to quote from it is that it's not as word-heavy as articles from say The Times or The Guardian which most posters wouldn't have the patience to read.. Yes, it's leaning towards the right but it's not like everything in there is BS.. If you want to believe the whole of the mainstream media has an agenda I suppose really I should feel sorry for you..
