Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
I don't think that poster was to be taken seriously-- just another case of hotheadedness. I do think it takes more time to write out violent aggravations (hence giving the person more time to think and reflect on what he/she is saying) than someone who is verbally offset by controversial subject matter and says the first thing that comes to mind. Eh, it's odd and radical; i'm glad I got out of that phase after the age of 15.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Ask that poor father whose little daughter has been raped brutally more than once) by a rich basterd and the police isnt willing to lodge a FIR. Would you call that helpless father a jaahil if he decides to take law in his own hands and kills the jerk who raped his little princess??
I would like the father to remember that Allah swt isn't oblivious to the situation. The family may have failed to get justice in this duniya but in the akhirah even an atom's weight of ill will have to be accounted for. The rapist might get away in Pakistan because of the corrupt system and he might get away in the US because he cannot be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in the court of law. The truth cannot always be proven and it happens more often than we may think. If all those who lose in the court started taking law into their own hands, it wouldn't a pretty picture now would it. My heart goes out to all those who have to go through such ordeal but I firmly believe it is not justified for them to go out on a killing spree if the judiciary system failed them.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
This is all heading towards a personal attack and picking up fights category. I wouldn't have mind if all this discussion was taking place in the original thread but this is a second how dare you type a thread for a same poster. Get over it, the poster is pretty well known and regular here, and as far as I'm aware he's less agenda driven and level headed than some of you touchy wouchy opportunistic Brown sahibs.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Disclaimer: I have no idea what thread/post/poster everyone keeps talking about, I hope my post isn’t seen as a personal attack against whoever
Life1 is amusing.

THIS! These bad things are only tests from ALLAH, it's up to us as humans to pass or fail. DO we take the justice system in our hand or not thats where it's up to us to decide if it's right or wrong.
Not to nitpick, but I think if you ask ANYBODY, regardless of religion/nationality/ethnicity etc whose child was raped/abused, they would all wish they could do that to the person....
Exactly, they WISH they could do that, but most will also agree that saying/ wishing it and actually doing it are very different.

I agree with you BBQ,
And with my post i did not ment to say that everyone should go on and take law in own hand. I just wanted to state that if a poor father does take that step, out of desperateness, because no one is taking him serious, then is he a jaahil?
Atleast i won't call him a jaahil uncivilized person.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
Did you all hatch out of eggs or something? Have you NEVER heard someone swear or say angry things that they didnt' mean???
None of you ever heard your parents say, "i'll kill you if you do this!" and you were actually afraid of being killed? Or were all of you perfect little angels who never had a mean word said to them?
I can't believe you're trying to make out that these different comments (not just one remark indicating it was just a heat of the moment post) are no big deal:
**'For all those who are saying they'd kick her out of the house, honestly people would that be enough?
I am so angry just thinking abt this, I'd actually do major physical harm to her. Chop off those fronties if need be, Even out of the house she is my daughter and NO WAY IN HELL is she going about like that. I dont care if I have to throw acid on her face or burn her alive.**'
'I swear Id hang her upside down and strip her skin from her body.'
'I am giving an honest to god opinion **that I dont believe I shall be able to restrain myself.'**
On most forums this would be classed as crossing the line and possibly incitement to violence..
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
@Dil_Pakistan…first the specific poster advocated killing, skinning, throwing acid…now you advocating taking law in your own hands??
i think its proof enough for the day that…desi people are messed up in the head…

I wouldn't either. It would be a crime of passion and in the US it is referred to as "temporary insanity" and as far as I know it is a valid defense.

Stop defending crazy desi thought process and providing lame legal defences for such lunacy...thank you

When you open a thread about a hypothetical situation like "what if your son becomes a gay" or "what if your daughter becomes Tehmeena tafzeel?" etc etc...you're supposed to expect all sort of comments.
I don't understand what's the point of opening such retard threads?
We parents don't want to imagine our kids in sick situations like these. People who come up with such threads definitely have some mental issues.
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
^Maybe they just want to gauge ppls opinions.. Might seem retarded to you but that other thread was a bit of an eye opener to me.. Tahmeena's parents are apparently ok with her doing what she does, perhaps the OP of that thread was honestly wondering what other ppls reactions would be if they were in the same position (tho obviously a real model wouldn't need to be asking her Twitter followers to pay for her next photoshoot lol).. Obviously it's a touchy subject and ppls emotions can run high but I was genuinely shocked at the language that was used in that thread..
She's not the first Pakistani girl to go into it and she won't be the last.. I'm also curious as to how many ppl would also have a problem with regular fashion modelling (in the West or Pakistan).. There was a Pak girl on ANTM last year but can't remember her name.. Would be interesting to see where ppl draw the line between decent and indecent..
Re: Honour killings, acid attacks etc, are they ever justified?
^I understand what you're saying but then that's how some people choose to show their strong feelings against such profession on a discussion forum. In a real life scenario, anyone's reaction would be quite unpredictable.
There's a whole process of your life that takes place in front of your parents' eyes so it's not like one day you wake up and surprise your parents by going totally against their wishes and values.
Having said that, this century has seen some girls from noble families turning in to a slut (Paris Hilton).
