Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

hayn? how could japan win help us? :(

there are no quarter finals? =\

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

merey bhai ... there was a condition ...if spain lost against japan and australia against pak , then pak would have made semi final ... so now we are out for sure.. :(

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

and all this fairy tail was based on the pre-assumption that Pakistan would beat the aussies - which they planned to do blind folded and using only their left hands, because of our superior history in Field hockey ....

Not one team in the history of field hockey has been able to produce a forward line that could come close to the killer combo of Sami, Hasan, Hanif, Manzoor, Kaleem - It really brings tears to the eyes when I see the current status of our hockey team.

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

Okay...Pakistan are playing their last match of this tournament versus Australia...just academic... :)

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

So...finally...Pakistan's misery is over...just won 1 match out of 5...

Go home...lick your wounds...some soul searching...

Find a coach who has the ability to have more insight into the tournaments like this and not only the sport: Field hockey... :)

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

did nt know japan and spain got so close.lol anyway pakistan lost australia 3-0 and is now out of top 6 in rankings

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

Okay all sport pretty much sucks these days.

:smilestar:

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

NOT OUT OF TOP 6 RANKINGS YET:snooty: ..

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

Pakistan has an impressive record in hockey! But that is fastly deteriorating! Shamful defeat of 9-2 at the hands of the dutch at CT 2006. Once it hold all five tiltes - World champions to Asian Games! Now they only hold South Asian title!

In order to preserve its outstanding record, Pakistan should abondon international hockey! Becasue in current secnario, there is not chance that Pakistan will re-emerge as a victorious team in Hockey.

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

Yes that was one amazing forward line. In those days we never thought about defeat. The only question was what will be our victory margin? Those wins 're even more commendable given that we were traditionally not very good at converting penalty corners. The exact reverse has happened now. Our forward line sucks and it's only since the mid 90s that we have started converting penalty corners courtesy of Sohail Abbas....... even though he failed to live upto expectations in this tournament.

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

Pakistan looked demotivated and dispirited yesterday understandably so as they dont have to fight for a place in next Champions trophy (being hosts) and no semifinal place to play for.

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

Well it looks as though Pakistan will never be a powerhouse in world hockey....... atleast for sometime. We lack consistency and aboveall the stamina to compete with top teams and play 4-5 games in a week which is the norm in hockey thesedays.

The only saving grace is that Holland (who are Champions' Trophy Champions and who thrashed us 9-2 recently) too failed to qualify for the semis.

Re: Hockey Worldcup 2006 - [Mönchengladbach, Germany]

^ and we meet them for 5-8 play offs
