Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

That might be the case, kachi plains , where mehrgarh existed, is still inhabited by brahui speaking people. Brahuis and Pashtuns are the oldest inhabitants of balochistan province of pakistan. Pashtuns have originated from sulieman mountains. There are also balochs like marris and bugtis in sulieman range but they have captured these territories from pashtuns. Brahuis, due to promixity with indo-iranians, are racially no longer dravidians of mehrgarh civilization. And balochs are quite inclusive people, they did incorporate any tribe of any race. Brahuis didnt get absorbed entirely into baloch nation, they maintained their distinct langauge and culture. State of pakistan recognize brahui as separate and distinct langauge and brahuis are listed as separate ethno-linguistic group.

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

That was helpful and informative. So memons are sindhis. I have read that original homelands of jats was sindh?

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

yes Jatt (t as in sitara) is still a caste in Sindhi. There is another word used in Sindhi 'Jhatt'.. Jh pronunication doesn't exist in other languages of Pakistan. Jhatt = unrefined person (probably like Bedouin in Arabs). This might be due to the fact that Jatt/jhatt kept camels and were not aware of formalities of culture followed in settled areas. So there is a saying in Sindhi 'agar aap Jhatt ko maan/ izzat do ge, to wo jutti ke sath palang pe beth jae ga'. Somehow, my dada refers Zardari as Jatt :D

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

Memons are originally Sindhi and those who migrated to Kutch/ Gujarat during Arghoon / Tarkhan period, came back to their land after partition in 1947. Even before partition, they have business in Karachi. There is a joke about Memon (who came back from Indian areas) that they keep on changing their identity as Sindhi / Muhajir, considering the political situation.

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

Pakistan would have been much better if the capital would have been shifted to here (DG Khan) - geographical centre of Pakistan and Pakistan’s timeline!

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

O.K .I would like to ask a couple of questions here. But please do not reckon it offensive.

Is Balochistan really an integral part of Pakistan?

If it is yes, then why Baloch people are fighting for independence?Their insurgency or struggle for independence dates back to six decades.

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

simple. When you deny people their rights they do talk about separation / independence. Be it Balochistan in Pakistan or dozen of separatist movements going on in India and other countries of the region.

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

A dozen is a very minimal as regards to independent movements in India. There are more than 50 of such movements. But you know,we are masters in crushing the backbone of all such idiotic fantasies.

Re: History of Baloch and Balochistan

Nothing is permanent when it comes to boundaries of a country and its union and alienation. What matters more that people should not be deprived of their basic rights. Force is not a permanent solution. sometimes it bounce back with additional intensity. But again, no one tries to learn a lesson from history.

Nimruz is one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan, located in the southwestern part of the country. It is east of Iran and north of Balochistan, Pakistan it was part of Balochistan before the British invasion of Afghanistan . The province contains five districts, encompassing about 649 villages, and roughly 156,600 settled people.[SUP][1][/SUP] The city of Zaranj serves as the provincial capital and Zaranj Airport, which is located by that city, serves as a domestic airport for the province.

The name Nimruz means “mid-day” or “half-day” in Balochi.Nimruz

Further information: History of Afghanistan

**The area now composing Nimruz Province of Afghanistan was once part of the historical region of Sistan, which over the many centuries was held by the Medes, Achaemenid Empire, Alexander the Great and others before being conquered and converted to Islam by the Muslim Arabs in the 7th century. The region became part of the Saffarid dynasty in 860 CE with its capital at Zaranj, which was one of the first local dynasties of the Islamic era. Its founder Yaqub Saffari was born and raised in this region. The territory became part of the Ghaznavids followed by the Ghurids, Timurids, and Safavids.
**
**
Nimruz region fell to Nader Shah of Khorasan in 1738 followed by Ahmad Shah Durrani in 1747. but in 1758 Khan of Kalat Mir Noori Naseer Khan Baloch defeated Ahmed Shah Durrani by revolting against and made it part of Balochistan. Under the modern Afghan governments, the province was known as Chakhansur Province until 1968, when it was separated to form the provinces of Nimruz and Farah. The city of Zaranj became the capital of Nimroz province at that time. During the Soviet war in Afghanistan, Nimruz province was heavily used by mujahideen crossing back and forth. It was also used by Afghani refugees escaping the war **
